Some 10,000 Japanese PlayStation 3 owners are going to join the fun in the PlayStation Home beta this month, and Sony is welcoming them with the help of publisher Namco Bandai. The long time game maker will offer up its classics from the Namco Museum collection for play in the virtual world. Details after the jump.

It looks like Microsoft is pulling out all the stops in making the rest of summer feel like an Xbox Live joyride. Microsoft has announced a slew of upcoming releases, even coming out with a 100,000 MS Point promotion. Yes folks, that's 100,000 MS points. Learn more after the jump!

Microsoft's has unveiled a ton of new stuff making its way for the Xbox Live Arcade for this year over at the E3. Among other things, there's the upcoming arrival of Portal on XBLA and sequels for XBLA's Geometry Wars and Uno. Details are available in the full article.

XNA Chief Chris Satchell has just dropped a couple of bombs at the GDC 2008. He announced that Xbox Live will be getting a new service called Community Games. Super Mario Toy is back, this time with three classic mini games with a Mario twist to them. You can now play Mario as Pacman, Mario in a Galaga-type air fight (spitting out fireballs in place of bullets), and Mario shooting down koopas in a Duck Hunt game. PSP Homebrew Developer Netaro has released an update to his Galaga-esque shooter, Invaders. Invaders v1.1 has some new features including powerups, random backgrounds and triple bullets.

Another homebrew developer, Netaro, joins the ranks of QJ.NET PSP Homebrew Development Forums to release his shoot 'em up Invaders for the Sony PlayStation Portable. Much like the arcade hit Galaga, it's a straightforward game that pits you and your spaceship against enemy alien ships. A week ago, PlayStation Portable homebrew developer theb1rdm4n released the Galaga-ish homebrew game, Birdman's Shooter. Well, we can say that the dev works fast. An updated version of Birdman's Shooter has just been released, bumping it up the numbers to version 1.2.

In case you missed the first release of the said game, here's a bit of a primer. Birdman's Shooter is based on the classic fixed space shooter, Galaga. Basically, you pilot one ship going against hordes of enemy ships.

It's always nice to see first time homebrew developers try out their hand in making simple, yet addicting homebrew games for the Sony PlayStation Portable. First time homebrew programmer, theb1rdm4n, created a classic top-down shooter entitled Birdman's Shooter.

The game is basically a shooter which resembles the old-school arcade game, Galaga. Birdman's Shooter pits you against endless waves of aliens which try to destroy your ship with a steady rain of laser fire. You're given the opportunity to gain a power up to attack with two laser beams, but aside from that the game is simple and good, in terms of gameplay and design.

Seeing as this is the first version of the game, minor bugs are bound to pop up. One known issue noted by the developer is that enemies tend to get stuck against one another on higher levels of the game. However, theb1rdm4n assures gamers that this bug will most likely be corrected inthe next version.

You cant beat the classic Atari games when it comes to replay value, and with the release of Atari Classics Evolved on the PlayStation Portable it's guaranteed to keep you glued to your handhelds just to beat your high score ("just a bit more, a bit more... oh noooooes!"). Here are two new gameplay videos for the game, featuring Super Breakout and Tempest, to join the likes of Missile Command, Asteroids, Battlezone and Centipede.

As some of you might remember, Super Breakout plays like Pong, only you destroy bricks instead of having to volley the ball around with another player. Meanwhile, Tempest is a shoot-em-up game that emulates a 3D thmosphere. It's like Galaga, only simpler in graphics, but semi-3D in nature. Check out the vids for yourself! Atari Classics Evolved will be released on November 15.
