Looks like not all is well in the kingdom of PSP homebrew. And it involves no less than two of the loudest voices currently in the scene: mathieulh and Freeplay. Over at our forums, mathieulh calls out Freeplay for supposedly leaking the Mercury exploit, when the code of said exploit wasn't his to begin with. More of the unfolding drama after the jump.

While those who've downloaded the new 6.20 have a new Digital Comics Reader to try out, the rest of the pack are still a bit hesitant in making the jump forward. You've read the official changelog, but it appears that what Sony didn't say out loud was that a previous exploit has now been patched. That said, FreePlay releases the PSP Go exploit that he's been working on, ensuing a new episode in the homebrew scene drama.

Ok guys, it's finally here. The highly debated PSP Go exploit by FreePlay has been released. Unfortunately, Sony discovered the loopholes of the save game exploit and quickly patched the game (now known as Archer Maclean's Mercury) with the release of PSP firmware 6.20. More after the break.

Here's a piece of good news to the PSP homebrew community. Early last month, as some of you may recall, FreePlay has released a video showing us that he has successfully hacked Sony's latest handheld iteration that got everyone buzzing with excitement. Well, now he's back to give us a status update on his project. According to his YouTube channel post, he is now making progress on the exploit with his NID resolver working flawlessly, and if he can get the eLoader source to work, we may have a PSP Go eLoader soon that will allow us to run our favorite homebrews on the PSP Go.

It's been a rather busy seven days for the PSP homebrew community. The great homebrew hope is still burning bright thanks to Freeplay's hack for the PSP Go (that was fast, wasn't it?), and custom firmware users who don't want to upgrade to non-M33 firmware have steadily been given better and better chances of playing new games on their old firmware thanks to Yoshihiro's frequent Game Decrypter updates and the arrival of a new app called Eboot Patcher. All that and more homebrew goodness in the PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior!

To all the naysayers still doubting the authenticity of Freeplay's work on the PSP Go, here's something that will definitely change your mind. No less thanMaGiXieN of PSP GEN has tested the hack and has given his word - the PSP Go hack by Freeplay is not a fake. Check out the video right here.
