It's difficult not to get excited after Square Enix break word of a Final Fantasy IV remake on the DS, and it just got better. NeoGAF forum posters are now drooling over two V-jump scans that came from giant Japanese forum 2ch, as Rydia, Yang Fang, and Cecil appear in full CG glory along with the game's December 20, 2007 Japan release date. Aside from the text we couldn't decipher, the pages are loaded with screens taken from the much anticipated title. Battle designer Hiroyuki Ito's groundbreaking Active Time Battle (ATB) system, which first appeared in the original Final Fantasy IV, is back to bring DS owners a fresh turn-based experience. As we heard before, the bottom screen will be in full use during battle by displaying the help window. In-game character models look very similar to Final Fantasy III's reincarnation to the DS, but magic effects seem more spectacular this time around. With other new features like automapping intact, Japanese gamers definitely have something to be excited about this Christmas season. Our eyes are peeled for any North American release, so watch this space for any updates. |

T-minus two days to next year, guys. And while you're wondering what's '07 got in store for us, let's take a look at some of the better things we've seen.IGN's hosting an awarding ceremony over at their site, and it'll be covering the best of what's happened in 2006. And while it's a long list, taking a look at what's been good per console, we'll be focusing on their "Best Gear of 2006" collection. Under this category, IGN reports that the best new console of 2006 was *drumrolls* the PS3, the Wii taking second place. IGN chalks up points for the PS3's sheer processing power, its packaging as a computer rather than as a gaming platform, and the availability of Linux supported distributions. Sure the console's still got a long way to go given its slow start, but given the package's initial strengths, it'll be interesting to see what will develop in the near future. As for the other "Best gear of 2006":

Mermaids are one of the creatures that have been immortalized in people's minds and have fascinated the young and adults alike. The word mermaid came from the Middle English mere in the obsolete sense 'sea' + maid(en). It is a legendary aquatic creature with the head and torso of human female and the tail of a fish. Tales about their existence appeared as early as 1000 BCE in Assyria. One of the popular legend is that Alexander the Great's sister, Thessalonike turned into a mermaid after her death and lived in the Aegean, asking sailors one question " Is Alexander the king alive". The correct answer would be "He lives and still rules", any other answer would spur her into a rage where she transforms into a Gorgon and harbor doom upon the ship and every sailor onboard. Even in popular culture, mermaids are depicted regularly in literature and film, likely due to the influence of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale, The Little Mermaid. But are these creatures just a figment of humans' imagination or are they real? Read the full article after the jump! |

If you're serious in taking on PC gaming as a craft then this fierce gamepad is for you. How fierce you ask? It was once a U.S Military training combat pad that is now declassified for non-military personnel for PC gaming use. This serious piece of gaming equipment comes in at $34.99. Although compact in design it is jam packed with all the features that a trooper needs, like 41 tactically placed keys that include four thumb-specific keys and 11 weapon keys surrounding a lethal central butterfly layout. If that doesn't scream coming in for the kill I don't know what does. It is also ambidextrous in design, so whether you're right-handed or a southpaw, you can control this device with ease. The gamepad allows up to seven simultaneous keystrokes while employing phantom keystroke elimination capabilities. Powered by ZEngine technology, gamers can pre-define key layouts for over 100 PC titles. |
