Wii accessories have been sprouting like mushrooms lately - the most recent items to join the fray were Gametech's filter and port protection caps and three accessories from Dragon Electronics. Now, it's Japanese-based company Elecom's turn to join the bandwagon as they just introduced their silicon covers for the Wiimote - the HGW-001 series, HGW-002 series, HGW-003 series, and the HGW-004WH.
The HGW-001, priced at JPN¥ 1, 260 (about US$ 10.50), has a "band strap" so that the chances of the Wiimote slipping from your grasp would be diminished. It comes in three colors - transparent, black, and blue. On the other hand, the HGW-002, which sports the same price tag as the HGW-001 and comes in the same colors, is blessed with a grip design. The HGW-003 is basically the same, but it allows you to change your Wiimote's batteries without removing the silicon cover. The more expensive HGW-004WH has a price tag of JPN¥ 1, 680 (roughly US$ 14) and would be best used if you're going to use the Wiimote as the game pad. |

Call it "Monster Hunter goes MMO." I'd personally call it Monster Hunter on 'roids! Well, the installments on the PS2 and PSP are quite a catch as they are, but bring it over to the virtual network world and you're talking about monster overload in Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier.
To help you with all that hunting though, third-party manufacturer Elecom is offering a 12-button controller for the game, and it looks much like a PS2 controller, with a few tweaks and changes. The controller attaches to your PC via USB. It's actually going to be the recommended input device for playing Monster Hunter Frontier, as the buttons were mapped strategically to best way possible. The controller can operate on both Analog and Digital modes, and comes with a USB cable strap and CD driver. |

PGP-GC001 - is a carrying case that could also hold two UMDs. It's made of a hard urethane material, is lightweight, and has safety bands to protect the PSP from accidentally falling off. The case fastener does not directly touch the portable. This retails at 1,575 Japanese yen (approximately US$ 14). PGP-GC002 - is a soft carrying case that mainly prevents scratches. The PSP fits snugly into the case. This retails at 1,890 Japanese yen (US$ 16). PGP-GC003CR - is a hard polycarbonate protector that can be installed easily. The clear case is transparent, so the games can be enjoyed even with the case on. This retails at 1,575 Japanese yen, (US$ 14). PGP-GC004 - is a silicon protector that comes with a film LCD protector and can be easily installed. This retails at 1,890 Japanese yen (US$ 16). Elecom hasn't announced whether these would be available in the U.S. soon, but you can check their Japanese site for more info on these cases. |

Wanna hear some scary stuff? Whether or not you do, we're still gonna go ahead and tell you: Your keyboard and mouse can harbor more bacteria than your bathroom's toilet seat. Now that we're done with the massive groan and the heartfelt "Ewww", we have here Elecom's new product line, the M-ABUR antibacterial mouse. When we say antibacterial, we don't necessarily mean that this mouse will disinfect your hand thoroughly for you. You'll still have to go to the bathroom and wash your hands to keep 'em clean. What the mouse does is keep itself bacteria-free, so when you're all done washing up and getting ready to use your PC, the danger of getting your hands covered in icky bacteria will be minimized. Plus, ain't these babies looking pretty cool? Elecom really has a penchant for beautiful designs. We really like the designs, especially the colors. Quite a change from the usually boring antibacterial product designs we've seen. Here's hoping that Elecom releases a matching antibacterial keyboard in the future. The M-ABUR antibacterial mouse retails in Japan for ¥3,780. |

If you're in the market for a new mouse and you like little cute Japanese things, we got a hit for you. O Sakana Mouse POI is a mouse from Elecom that will meet your needs. Its got a retractable cable and it's optical. Pretty good stuff. If you're anything like me, then you don't get a new mouse till yours is totally destroyed. If they had these at Wal Mart I might break that tradtition and grab me one. As it were, they aren't at Wal Mart. You'll have to order one from Elecoms unintelligibly Japanese, flash heavy website. Good luck.

Elecom indeed has a thing for the flashy. Just a while ago, we feasted our eyes on their one of a kind, mother of pearl like speakers for the PSP, and now to complete our listening experience, they are dishing out some blinging earphones. The Ear Drop series could very well be the perfect gift for your audiophile special lady friend. Encrusted in diamond like crystals (could it be Swarovski?) the three earphone designs - heart, orb and line. Take it from me, the heart shaped one, the most expensive of the lot (go figure), will be a hit with ladies. According to Elecom's website, the inspiration behind their elegant earphones line is to compliment the similarly blinging iPod that came from the Bling Ring wave. But could it beat Mac@Work's luxury line of diamond covered iPod earphones? The base colors comes in black and white, while the crystals are available in a variety of colors. The heart shaped earphone is priced at ¥3,780 ($33.03), the orb shaped earphone comes in at ¥3,150 ($27.52) and the line shaped being the cheapest at ¥2,520 ($22.02). No exact date of availability was mentioned, except that it will be sometime this August.

Yes, that adorable, pearl finished ball is a powerful speaker in disguise. Elecom's PSP-S700 is perfect for those that would want to share their music or videos with a room full of people ready to bring the house down. Its shape, not only makes it a curious little device, but also makes it easy to carry around. You don't have to worry about the cord getting all tangled up because it has its own special compartment inside the ball. No need to plug it into a power source. Since it's a passive type, it uses the device's power, your PSP in this instance, as its energy source. It could eat up some of your precious battery life, but hey, you used it all in style. It comes in a variety of colors like blue, pink, silver and white. Every color orb to match your outfit or PSP case. Unfortunately, no mention of it being available outside of Japan though. Including tax, it is priced at ¥2,520 or roughly $22 USD. (Thanks, Flai, for the tip.) |

We thought we'd give you a break from the "Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD Battle for Media Storage Supremacy for the Next Ten Or So Years" and focus on the Elecom CD Pouch Dispenser instead. This simple little device is worth minutes, if not hours, of foraging for an available CD pouch just when you need one.Naturally, the Laws of Physics specifically state you won't find one when you need it the most - the more urgent the need, the longer the rummaging. We have been reduced to wrapping our CD-to-go in everything from multiple layers of toilet paper to old Christmas gift wrappers, and even Reynolds Wrap. The Elecom CD Pouch Dispenser uses the same hi-tech mechanism used in dispensing tissues from boxes. A new pouch pops up after the last one is pulled out. The wonderful thing about the Elecom CD Pouch Dispenser is that it works with DVDs and HD-DVD, too. |
