Now that E3's getting all gussied up for next year's event with bigger booths and a larger guest list for the party, what's going to happen to the E for All Expo? Let's just say it's not looking good. Details after the link.

E3 is officially on for next year.

Good news is, the event has been expanded. The bad news is that it's still closed to the public. Meaning the invite list is still a restricted number, but at least it's expanded.

Yay?

The ESA is planning to bring more hype to the E3 in 2009, starting with a "huge" event in LA. Plans have been tightly guarded, but we'll know more on X-Play, tonight at 8PM ET on G4. Read more in the full article.

Recent documents being passed around Congress and the PotUS office [insert West Wing red tape montage here] gave birth to a new anti-piracy bill which was signed into law as the "Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008" or, in short, PRO-IP. Back in the ESA offices, Michael Gallagher couldn't be any happier.

It seems that Codemasters, the company behind Clive Barker's Jericho, Colin McRae, and Lord of the Rings Online, has left the ESA. This makes the sixth publisher to leave the organization since May.

What to do when your event is drawing flak and your circle of supporters are leaving one by one? Try a different strategy, for one. And this is what ESA seems to be doing for next year's E3. Talks of them "going public" are circulating the Internet's grapevines. But how probable is this move?

Leipzig's over and the Tokyo Game Show won't be till October. But that doesn't mean there won't be any other conferences around to satisfy ever-curious gamers' appetites. And this time, we won't even have to fly overseas. The Austin Game Developers Conferences is coming up next, and they've added in a nice touch to this year's event.
