2009 E3 Expo - Image 1E3 is officially on for next year.

Good news is, the event has been expanded. The bad news is that it's still closed to the public. Meaning the invite list is still a restricted number, but at least it's expanded.

Yay?

Puss says... - Image 1Recent documents being passed around Congress and the PotUS office [insert West Wing red tape montage here] gave birth to a new anti-piracy bill which was signed into law as the "Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2008" or, in short, PRO-IP. Is Codemasters the Latest Publisher to Bail on the ESA? - Image 1We interrupt your regularly scheduled TGS updates for news on another gaming convention, E3. No, it's not dead yet. But this new development won't help it recover any.

It seems that Codemasters, the company behind Clive Barker's Jericho, Colin McRae, and Lord of the Rings Online, has left the ESA. This makes the sixth publisher to leave the organization since May.

ESA - Image 1What to do when your event is drawing flak and your circle of supporters are leaving one by one? Try a different strategy, for one. And this is what ESA seems to be doing for next year's E3. Talks of them "going public" are circulating the Internet's grapevines. But how probable is this move?

Austin Game Developers Conference 08 - Image 1Leipzig's over and the Tokyo Game Show won't be till October. But that doesn't mean there won't be any other conferences around to satisfy ever-curious gamers' appetites. And this time, we won't even have to fly overseas. The Austin Game Developers Conferences is coming up next, and they've added in a nice touch to this year's event.

Mars Express - Image 1The viewcam's gone on to reach the stars, folks. And the best part is it's taking you along for the ride. ESA's Mars Express Visual Monitoring Camera is now up for public viewing and now you can quite literally see the red planet within your reach.

The fifth Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Last week's 360 Weekend Warrior was basically an E3 extravaganza, filled with big-name news and announcements. This week is a lot more subdued, as we deal with the aftermath of E3, as well as talk about some notable new things in store for our favorite games.

Oh, and we talk about perceived racism and videogame legislation as well. Find all of it after the jump!

E3 will be back next year - Image 1Despite getting a lot of bad rep and portents of doom this year, ESA has announced that they will still be holding an E3 event next year. They'd better make some changes if they really intend to push through with it though. More in the full article.
