A few days ago, Kotaku reported that Circuit City will be receiving a new PlayStation 3 SKU with a different model number from their 40GB unit bundled with Spider-Man 3. Now, Kaizer_911, a GameStop manager who gave us the heads-up on a number of developments before, informs us that his store will also be storing units with a different model number, making more room for the possibility that the white PS3 model is indeed coming. Some of you already know why bagging the limited edition of BioWare's Microsoft Xbox 360 exclusive Mass Effect is worth it, but what most have no idea about is that standing in line for hours in front of the local EB Games/GameStop won't earn anyone the much desired bundle of goodies. According to EB Games' website, the item is only available online.

It seems BioWare fans would love that Galactic Codex: Essentials book, Mass Effect art book, and bonus DVD with exclusive videos, but they'll have to order the package online. There's a note posted on the Mass Effect limited edition page that reads: "This is an ONLINE ONLY Limited Edition. This item WILL NOT be available in stores."

Both standard and limited editions of BioWare's Mass Effect are slated for release this November 20. Might as well pre-order your copy online before that date hits the calendar if you want the extra stuff, because that'll probably be your only chance. It wouldn't be surprising if the limited offer gets sold out soon, and it won't be on shelves later.

Those who are waiting for their fix of courtroom drama (mixed with a dose of Adult Swim acid) on their Wii, PS2, and PSP are bound for a disappointment: it looks like Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law by Capcom for the Wii and PSP is going to be delayed, according to the game's release dates in two different online retail stores.

Online store Amazon lists Harvey Birdman's release date as January 8 next year, while EBgames has January 1, 2008 as Harvey Birdman's shipping date. Of course, both may simply be placeholders for the actual dates, but what happened to its previous November 13 release?

Square Enix has announced that the upcoming Nintendo DS title Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker has gone gold. This title is the latest installment in the Dragon Quest Monsters series and is the first to feature online play.

The company has also dropped a reminder about their special pre-order promo. Those who pre-order a copy of Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker from participating outlets will get a free Green Bays Screen Wipe.

The freebie item acts as both a screen wiper and navigational map, so you guys might want to check it out. Participating outlets are Amazon.com, EBGames/GameStop, EBGames Canada and GameCrazy.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker was released in Japan late last year and is currently on schedule to meet its November 6 North American release date.

If this post from retail chain EBGames is correct, fans of aerial combat simulator games will have another title to look out for on January 1, 2008 in the form of Heroes of the Pacific. Yep, it seems that the critically-acclaimed PS2 game from IR will be making an outing on the PlayStation Portable.

We checked the title's official site if the developer or even publishers Codemasters and Ubisoft have updated it but unfortunately, the companies have yet to do so. Allow us to speculate a little though in saying that this is not at all an impossibility. It is common practice for video gaming companies to bring PlayStation 2 games to the shiny handheld and vice versa.

Heroes of the Pacific, like we said, is an aerial combat simulator game and delves around WWII. It begins during the attack on Pearl Harbor, with players taking the role of pilot William Crowe. Battles will include famous, or even infamous, Pacific campaigns in Iwo Jima, Philippines, and Wake Island among others.

As much as we would like this one to be a reality, we're putting this one under the Rumor tag for now. As always, updates as we get them!

In this news article, we point out a rather glaring mistake two popular videogame store chains have made - specifically, using a misleading mockup of an upcoming game's pack shot. The name of the game - Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. The two culprits - EBgames and GameStop.

Of course, it's not really a bad thing. With the daily updates coming from the Smash Brothers Dojo website increasing hype and need for the game each time they reveal new stuff about the title, you'd really want to make sure that you have an eye-catching image for people to know that yes, you can reserve this awesome piece of Nintendo happy before its release date on December 3.

What's bad is that they went ahead and included characters that haven't even been confirmed for the game yet - Ness, Captain Falcon, and Sonic the Hedgehog to name a few. This could very well lead to false advertising - as well as some irate customers after finding out that they've been misled.

One thing EBgames and GameStop could have done, though, was to print images from the updates of Smash Brothers Dojo. They pack more of a graphical punch anyway, seeing as they show the actual game in action. That, or have a pretty employee dress up in a bright blue swimsuit and a blonde wig (if pretty female employee isn't blonde) and cosplay as Samus in her Zero Suit, just to promote the game. That always helps.
