SSX Blur - Image 1 SSX Blur - Image 2

You've met the characters, you've seen the vids. Heck, you might even already own the game! But for the rest of you who haven't hit the slopes with this title yet, we might as well avalanche you guys with even more SSX Blur content straight from EA Sports BIG (they always snow us in with lots of love anyways).

To usher in SSX Blur's official European release, this batch of screens show more of the stunts you can pull off in this snowboarding title. Flips, cannonballs, 360s (no, not the console), and all that snowy jazz. Check 'em out and start practicing those Wii-motions. The game won't give you frost bite, but there's still the risk of carpal tunnel.

SSX Blur in Ice Hotel - Image 1 SSX Blur in Ice Hotel - Image 2

EA Sports BIG would like to inform everyone that SSX Blur has finally shipped to North American retailers today with a price tag of of US$ 49.99. Enough said? Not really because the cool part is this: Electronic Art's celebration at the Ice Hotel.

It is located in Quebec and like its name implies, the Ice Hotel was completely made out of snow and ice. Its interior is surrounded by four-foot thick snow walls and a variety of ice-carved objects can be found there as well: ice couches, ice slides, ice shot glasses, and ice mattresses.

The event was attended by various journalists, all wearing multiple layers of clothing of course, trying to keep themselves warm. EA, on the other hand, put up a number of Wii kiosks so that guest can get their hands on the snowboarding game.

We would have loved to have been there. Oh well. Maybe in Marioland when Super Mario Galaxy finally comes out. Lastly, SSX Blur will be available in Europe on March 9.

Currently in the works at EA Sports Big's labs is SSX Blur, the kickass snowboarding title hailed as one of the most-anticipated sports titles to come out for the Wii. We've already given you tons of screens and gameplay vids but because we still have a long way to go 'til February 27, we're gonna bring you even more info and screens to prep you for when you finally get your hands on the game.

1up was recently able to catch up with Eric Chartrand, EA's lead designer, to talk about the Groove Gameplay and how music will be integrated in the gameplay (much like Def Jam: Icon, I presume). So whaddya say we stop dilly-dallying right about now and bring you the gist of the interview, eh?
  • The music is linked directly to gameplay wherein every track has five layers that can be arranged on top of each other. The better your performance, the more layers are combined. The Groove Meter is sync'd with this and will serve as a visual reminder of your performance. Once the Groove Meter is full, you'll be able to pull off an uber trick.
  • Chartrand says, "...filling your groove meter, and thus increasing the complexity and depth of the music -- is at the core of the gameplay, but it is not the driving factor."
  • Unlike in Def Jam where the music defines your gameplay, it works the other way around in SSX Blur. As Chartrand also explains, "The difficulty of tricks you land, and completing the course with speed etc. are all ways to fill your groove meter and thus pump up the music."

Like, uber cool, man! - Image 1

And we thought screens couldn't get more über than the previous set. Now it apparently has... Quite literally, in fact. Today, a fresh layer of ice has snowed us in with yet more pics for SSX Blur. It's got the word "UBER" written all over it, and we're not one to state the obvious (...d'oh!).

EA Sports BIG's snowboarding title (fifth in the long-running SSX series) is set to snowball its way to shelves come March 29. That's more than enough time to get some practice with your coordination skills. The monster tricks are back, and you gotta make sure you're prepared for it.

Check out the über tricks behind the "Full Article" link below.

Ever since SSX Blur was first announced at GC 2006, its developers have always been big on how its gameplay works, as well how the title's control schemes are going to be. It's not that they love to repeat themselves or something, but we actually see their point. SSX is a great and successful franchise, and we're quite certain that EA Sports BIGs wouldn't want to see its next-gen appearance ruined, just because players didn't quite get the hang of it.

Having said that, we'd like to share with you these two new gameplay videos for the game. Quite appropriately called "Happiness Trail" and "Slopestyle Funk," what's really remarkable about these two is that there's an inset clip within the main video. The inset, furthermore, shows in real time how your character in the game responds to every movement of the Wiimote and Nunchuk.

SSX Blur will start careening down the retail slopes on March 15, 2007. In the mean time, consider these videos as your training. Have fun!

Okay, that has got to be the sicket - or weirdest - dribbling trick I've seen on the hardcourt.

Either this is a new lighting effect we haven't seen in screens of NBA Street Homecourt (PS3, Xbox 360) from EA Sports before, or WorthPlaying took these from a screencap - but then why the EA Sports BIG tag? We just can't explain why some lights look greenish in these screens - they just are when we found them at WorthPlaying.

Must be some new trick the game pulls off besides those crossover trick mixes. Here are the other eight screenshots from EA via WorthPlaying. A couple of these shots show off stills of that ball-handling trick feature (you can tell by the fact that it don't just look like vanilla dribbling). Either that or the camera angle's as weird as the lighting.

Okay, who let the light in during film development? - Image 1Okay, who let the light in during film development? - Image 2Okay, who let the light in during film development? - Image 3Okay, who let the light in during film development? - Image 4

SSX

When a game's this cool, a gameplay video nor just a couple of screenshots definitely is not enough. That's why we're giving you the royal treatment with these fizzlin' ice-cold screenshots of EA Sports BIG's SSX Blur.

Yup, it sure is crystal clear. This is one source of adrenaline rush you wouldn't want to miss. And with the game being a Wii-exclusive, we just can't help but wonder how the Wiimote will function in this one. Do we hop aboard the Wiimote in true snowboarding fashion? Hmm..just adding a little more spice right there.

But hey, with these 43 screenshots, we guess there's enough spice to cover the whole grounds. So, yeah, we guess we'll be sticking to the traditional way of using the Wiimote.

Yup! There's more after the jump!
