Sony pulled a fast one, we tell you. But not fast enough that people couldn't catch the news before it became reality. The games division of the consumer electronics corporation has announced in the official PlayStation Blogs that PSP owners will be prompted to update to firmware 4.01 in a few hours time. Somehow, the new quick update is only focused on the new features that PSP firmware 4.00 added to the handheld. More at the full story, but this won't rock your world.

Developer ZodTTD has decided to rename ZodPlay back to vlc4iphone, further adding some extensive new upgrades to this homebrew media player for the iPhone and iPod Touch. More details regarding the name change and improvements are available in the full article.

Apart from letting PS3 owners play DivX movies on their consoles, DivX is extending their support of the PS3 to the game developers themselves. The company has announced that PS3 game developers can now take advantage of its video encoding technology.

Bad luck has struck owners of Sony's PlayStation 3 console. Instead of fixing the known issues with it, people have noticed that the Firmware 2.20 update is causing problems when streaming mpeg-4 video files which sometimes render files unplayable. Find out the details after the jump!
