Loki - Image 1

Just another one of those RPGs set in ancient times, Loki is not. Some would disagree, but this massive game made by Cyanide Studios is shaping up to be a blast. A brilliant mix of Aztec, Egyptian, Greek and Norse mythologies, thousands of items (500 of which are unique), 15 character classes, 41 levels, hundreds of monsters to whack - what else can you ask for?

If you can't answer the question above, we'll break it out to you: we can never get enough screenshots. Sure, we've seen videos of different races, types of warriors and all that, but we know you'd still feast your eyes on these. Here are some fresh ones we found.

Enjoy!

Cycling enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of Cyanide Studios' Pro Cycling Manager: Tour De France 2007 now has something to whet their appetites on: the very first trailer of the game, and from the looks of things, fans have a lot to look forward to. We get you the latest on what's to expect with this highly-anticipated racing game on two wheels.

Watching the video, one would immediately notice the ridiculous amount of things going on in the screen - all at the same time. There's the actual environment that's gloriously detailed, the spectators who move and react accordingly and convincingly throughout the race, and of course - the cyclists themselves, furiously pedaling in a massive group that's just stunningly realistic, you'd actually wait for someone to crash and see what would happen.

We also see some very in-depth customization options, with you being able to choose the kit your team will be using - down from the frame of their bikes to what helmet they're wearing. Very important for those of us who know just what they want to see in their teams.

Pro Cycling Manager: Tour De France will be released for the PC and the PSP this June 20. Enough talk from us, though, enjoy the video!

Loki for the PC - Image 1

Through the character trailers, we've seen a lot of action from Cyanide Studios' upcoming video game Loki. You're probably curious as to the other aspects of the game, like the weapons and items that you can use.  Don't worry! You're in luck as we have a couple of interesting details for you today.

Loki for the PC boasts of customizable weapons and unique items galore. How would you like to wield Thor's Hammer or wear Achilles' armor, for example? There are a good number of collectible items (thousands) and unique items (500). As players progress, they can acquire higher levels of armor and weapons, which have 15 classes each and are scattered through 41 levels. The character will look different as players progress since the armor and weapons have unique looks.

Visit the local blacksmith in game to have your looted weapons and armor improved (by adding materials), or melted for raw materials. There are 17 different raw materials that can be obtained from the process so players can improve their existing weapons with them. Also, players can have the blacksmith dismantle weapons into two parts, the handle and the blade, so mixing and matching is possible. And you can attach magic runes to weapons to get additional attributes.

That's all we have for now, but we'll bring you more info on Loki once it becomes available. Stay tuned.

Loki's looking good, huh? No, we're not talking about that Marvel Comics villain that appeared in The Avengers. We're talking about Cyanide Studios and Focus Home Entertainment's latest entry into the action-adventure-RPG history books. Well, ok, not so much as history books, but more so of mythology.

As we've heard from before, you can choose from a variety of character roles, each of which will represent a different mythology: Greek, Egyptian, Aztec, or Norse. While we've previously seen the trailer focusing on the Norse Warrior, today we've got a new trailer that focuses on two character roles - that of the Egyptian sorcerer and the Aztec shaman. Check it out below:

Loki - Image 1

Just when you thought you've seen enough screenshots of Loki, here comes another batch to tease us even more. This expansive PC game from Cyanide Studios and Focus Home Interactive promises to take players in a voyage through four great mythologies - Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and Aztec - as they play through the game.

In Loki, the player can choose to become any of the four heroes in the game, and whichever hero he becomes, his ultimate goal is the same: he must defeat the Egyptian god of darkness and evil that is Seth. This goal, of course, entails the player to battle most of the 100 monsters and some gods in the game. As a true hero, he must overcome all these obstacles to prevent the reign of Seth in his world.

Here now are screenshots of the two hero classes in the game - the Nordmann and the Egypter. You might want to take a look, too, at the video we have straight from the Loki site so you'll know what your hero's world will look like once you start playing the game come its European release on June 30. The U.S. release date though has yet to be announced.

Loki - from Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide... - Image 1 Loki - from Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide... - Image 2

Loki
is a hack 'n slash video game for Microsoft Windows/PC, and to those of us who are into the genre, this action-RPG looks like an "instant classic." A previous QJ.NET article covered some of the features of Loki, but it won't hurt to have another list here that focuses on other game features. None of this is made-up; it's all taken from recent press releases (the WorthPlaying article, our image source for this update, has the same details):
  • Never play the same game twice: levels are randomly generated each time.
  • Weapons, being made of two parts ("handle" + "cutting edge") and from different materials, can be customised at the village forge to change characteristics. In other words, you can disassemble and rebuild different weapons.
  • Power-up weapons with magic runes.
  • There's multiplayer support if you want to play with friends. There's a PvP arena if you're into that kind of thing. There are also online challenges.
  • An epic adventure through four great mythologies - Aztec, Egyptian, Greek, and Norse - allowing the player to live through many of the key episodes that mark these cultures (the siege of Troy, Ragnarok, etc.) and setting him in the path of the most prominent figures within each episodes (Achilles, Thor, Akhenaton,…). You choose from four different heroes with their own attributes and powers. Each hero has a vast array of spells and skills to help him in his quest.
  • More than 100 "beautifully detailed monsters" of all shapes and sizes.
Loki is currently being developed by Cyanide, with Focus Home Interactive handling the publishing. It looks like the game will be released in Europe on June 30, 2007. The North American release date has not yet been announced, but we're pretty sure there will be a US version, judging by the fact that there's a US section on the game's official site.

Publishing company hell-tech is very pleased with the way Loki is being handled by Cyanide Studios. Well, it should be as the very core of this RPG title is compelling enough even for us.

In case a you're a clueless creature stuck in a windowless room, this hack-and-slash title takes players in an exciting and incredible journey that encompasses four different mythologies. Each player could choose to become either a mighty Norse warrior, a fierce Greek fighter, a powerful Egyptian sorcerer, or a skilled Aztec shaman.

Since the title of the game is "Loki," a god from the Norse pantheon, maybe it would be wise to stick with the mighty Norse one. As for enemies, the bosses are nothing short of great as well. Players will face creatures like Medusa, Fenrir the wolf, and Fafnir the Dragon.

Loki will be released in North America during the second quarter of 2007.

Loki - Image 1

In a recent IGN interview with the people behind the upcoming Cyanide-developed RPG for PC, Loki, they were able to squeeze info regarding the abilities, combat, enemies, items, quests, and multiplayer (among many others) options in the game. The interviewees are Game Designer Yannick Fleurit, Lead Artist Thomas Veauclin and Sound Designer Vincent Percevault. Read on for the gist of the inside info they offer. And in the interest of saving time (and bandwidth), here's how we're gonna do this:
  • Players will be able to choose among four avatars: Norse warrior, Greek fighter, Egyptian sorcerer and Aztec shaman. Each has a different fighting style and method, depending on their specific strengths and abilities.
  • Character development: The ability system in Loki is based on the Faith of the hero, and the culture-specific gods that the hero worships.
  • Combat and weapons: Fleurit says that combat is THE core of Loki, and the combat system was designed such that attacks can be executed just by clicking on the targeted monster. There are 15 types of weapons, four of which are specific to each hero. There are three types of combat abilities: special attacks, spells, and talents.
  • Multiplayer modes: The Co-op mode lets you play with up to five of your friends while the second mode can be aptly called the Arena, wherein you'll be able to fight duels in a ladder-type competition.
  • Visual technologies employed:
    • normal mapping
    • full dynamic shadows (hardware shadowmap)
    • Irradience Environment Light
    • Pixel BRDF (Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function)
    • tone mapping (HDR)
    • shader model 3.0

Loki - Image 1

The publishing rights to Cyanide Studios' brand new PC-based RPG Loki has just been secured by Greek publishing and distribution company hell-tech. The hack 'n' slash action-RPG title puts players in the shoes of one of the four heroes of the game, each drawn from a different mythology: a fierce Greek warrior a mighty Norse fighter, a powerful Egyptian magician, or an Aztec shaman who masters the secrets of the spirit world.

In each of the four worlds that the player will traverse, he will become part of a great historical or mythological event such as the fall of Troy and the Spanish invasion of Central America. The player will also encounter great historical or mythological characters like Achilles and Thor.

With over 50 quests, more than a hundred different monsters, and a random level generator, players will never play the same game twice in Loki. Another nifty feature of the game is the ability to customize weapons and armour at a blacksmith's workshop, improving technical or magical properties and, in doing so, creating original items of great value.

hell-tech plans to release Loki in Q2 2007 throughout Greece, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, FYROM, South Africa, and Turkey. The game is set to be released in the U.S. in Q2 2007 and in Europe on December 31.
