Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1QJ.NET PSP Development forums member Cpasjuste has released a new version of Custom Firmware Extender. Pretty fast, considering version 1.8 was released only a couple of days ago. For the uninitiated, Custom Firmware Extender is a set of plugins for custom firmware 3.71M33.

It adds some extra options for your PlayStation Portable such as letting you make in-game videos with the help of TyRaNiD's remotejoy app and enabling USB Mass Storage at startup. For this version, 1.8.1, Cpasjuste has added the following changes:
  • Fixed a bug in usbhost iso redirection, now normal mode (umd inserted) is working great. No need to change anything in recovery, if you want more compatibility, just put an umd in the drive before using usbhost iso redirection, else do not put any umd. (thanks psp.padawan for our sharing)
  • Fixed a few bugs regarding usb mass storage. (thanks madridi4ever for all the reports)
For a complete list of all of Custom Firmware Extender's functions, please read the readme file bundled in the download below. Installation and usage instructions are also in the readme, so read it carefully before installing.

Sony PSP - Image 1Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer Cpasjuste visited the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums earlier and announced the release of Custom Firmware Extender version 1.8 software to the public. As the name suggests, this application adds some very interesting features to your  CFW 3.71 M33 Sony PSP with a set of plugins that will give it an entirely new attitude.

We must say that the array of features in Custom Firmware Extender version 1.8 is pretty hefty, and a lot of changes have happened since the previous versions. Here's the changelog:
  • New usbhost iso redirection method, if a UMD is in the drive, "normal" mode will be selected automatically. If there is none, "oe isofs" will be selected automatically. Note that the "normal" mode seems to have some bugs. It may not work at times.
  • No more save game problems while using usbhost iso redirection.
  • Remotejoy is working again under game. This allows users, in addition to the use of the included remotejoy_gui, to make some in-game videos.
  • Vsh menu hook: you can set some "vsh menu icons" to load a specified homebrew, take a look at the cfe.config file for examples on how to use it.
The source was also included by Cpasjuste so you can make changes if you feel you need to. The complete list of features, installation instructions, and user guide are all in the readme file, so don't forget to go through it. The readme has a very important purpose. Enjoy!

PSP Slim and Lite - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Cpasjuste has just released another version for the homebrew application Custom Firmware Extender, upgrading it to version 1.7. In case you missed the previous versions, it's a set of additional plugins that will add other functions to your Sony PSP, specifically those running on CFWs. It's also compatible with Team M33's CFW 3.71 for the PSP Phat and the Slim & Lite.

The dev added and fixed a slew of things on this release, adding a couple of features back and fine tuning the app in general. Here's changelog from the readme:
  • Configuration file is back.
  • Configuration file is simplified.
  • Ftpd server is back.
  • Option to load UsbMass storage at startup is back.
  • Only one usbhost iso streaming method for now (no umd required).
  • On Screen Display seems to be fixed.
  • Video capture via the use of remotejoy should work on fat psp.
According to Cpasjuste, there are some kinks left since the dev doesn't have a lot of time these days, though bug reports and suggestions will be very much appreciated. As always, check out readme file for more info like installation instructions, usage, and the changelogs.
