c62 - Image 1After having a shacky start, the highly controversial Commodore 64 emulator for the iPhone is now back in the Apple App Store. As some of you may recall, the app was rejected by Apple when it first came out last June due to some licensing issue. Just weeks later, the emulator was resubmitted to the App Store only to be yanked again due to some BASIC interpreter issue. But now it's back!

c64 - Image 1After months of controversy, Apple yesterday approved the Commodore 64 Emulator for the iPhone much to the delight of retro gamers. But waking up this morning, the awesome emulator has vanished again from the Apple App Store. More after the jump.

Manomio's C64 emulator - Image 1The folks at iPhone developer Manomio are feeling pretty damn frustrated right now, and with seemingly good reason. They went through all the trouble to actually get their Commodore 64 emulator legally licensed but it still got rejected from Apple's App Store. It wasn't a question of legality, since Manomio had that covered. According to the rejection email, it's because the app violates an iPhone SDK agreement that a number of apps already on the App Store also supposedly violate.

PSP homebrew - Image 1Akop Karapetyan, better known as uberjack, has whipped up the latest update for the VICE PSP, the Commodore 64 emulator for the PSP. The latest release features an option to select between PAL, NTSC, or the old NTSC, as well as a few other additions and fixes. Hit the link for the changelog.

wii homebrew emulatorSimon Kagstrom has released an update for the Commodore 64 emulator for the Wii. Frodo v10 takes the emulator out of the v9 RC releases to something more stable. Clocking the bump up to the next version level sees improvements with the GUI and sound, as well as the addition of a new chat system.

Wii homebrew - Image 1Simon Kagstrom has just released another update for his Commodore 64 emulator for the Wii. After turning the Nunchuk and the Classic analog controllers into joysticks in the last version, he spent the cold weekend working on the Frodo/Wii networking support. He's made a few changes, and you can find the list after the link.

Homebrew - Frodo v8 - Image 1Wiibrew dev Simon Kagstorm has released a new version of Frodo, the Commodore 64 emulator for the Wii. The major addition to this update is that the Nunchuk and Classic analogue controllers now work as joysticks for the emu.

PR - Nintendo Adds Commodore 64 to Virtual Console - Image 1Although the Wii homebrew scene has been enjoying the Commodore 64 emulator for some time now, Nintendo only recently remembered about the classic console. Now that they have though, they're adding three new Commodore classics to the Virtual Console.
