Silent Hill Origins - Image 1

Silent Hill Origins, set to launch in North America in the last quarter of 2007, is a prequel to the first installment of the popular survival horror series by Konami Digital. Climax Studios is doing the handiwork for this chapter and it's looking as disturbing as ever.

The events in Silent Hill Origins show that even before Harry arrived with his daughter in the haunted town, spooky things have been running wild. This game stars troubled man Travis O'Grady, a truck driver who passes through Silent Hill and encounters an apparition of Alessa. He then investigates the scene and gets caught in a very sticky situation.

Appearances by characters from the original Silent Hill have been confirmed. Yes, that means we'll be seeing the very memorable Dr. Kaufman again. It'll be a while before this bone-chiller hits, but while you wait, you might as well enjoy the screenshots we have below.

Climax on Silent Hill Origins' leaked demo: It didn't come from us - Image 1Climax on Silent Hill Origins' leaked demo: It didn't come from us - Image 2

Climax Studios CEO Karl Jeffery has something to say about the leaked demo of Silent Hill Origins that has been made playable on homebrew-capable PlayStation Portables. The game demo, initial reports mentioned, was smuggled during the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.

Jeffery told online site Games Industry that the stolen demo didn't come from their studio because what was shown at the event belongs to Konami. The CEO explained, "All I can say is that code did not leak from Climax - 100 per cent guaranteed. The code that is out there is fingerprinted and was supplied solely to Konami for marketing purposes".

Karl Jeffery mentioned that the leak first appeared on torrent sites last August 19 and was literally devoured by PSP users. One unnamed site, according to reports, enjoyed more than 1,200 downloads during the outbreak. Why did this happen? Climax Studios doesn't know for sure but the CEO said that this has never happened to them before.

"At Climax we have strong and proven security procedures that protect all of our code, assets, and builds. We have developed over 100 titles in 20 years in business and have never had a leak or theft from inside the company", said Jeffery. Silent Hill Origins is expected to officially hit retail stores later this year.

Silent Hill: Origins for the PSP rumored to have

A lot of people have been anxiously waiting for Climax Studios' Silent Hill: Origins. This prequel to the first game is said to delve into the mysterious, and undoubtedly dark past of the different locals that have become ingrained in the nightmares of all but the staunchest of gamers.

Anyway, we're not here to talk about how freaky the game is. The latest rumor about this game is that it will have "achievements" like those found on the Xbox 360. In the options screen of the Silent Hill: Origins Demo, you'll find a grayed-out option to access accolades. While it does sound like this rumor may be true, you have to consider that these accolades may be the cutscenes and artwork you could potentially unlock as you play.

Silent Hill: Origins is slated to be released this November 6 the U.S., and on October 26 in the UK. When it comes out, we'll be able to either confirm or disprove this rumor so be sure to keep on checking back for updates.

Oblivion for the PSP - Image 1 We've seen a number of delays and rumors (believe us, there are lots of them) related to Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion and unfortunately, we've got another one.

A couple of days back, Kotaku reported a rumor that Oblivion for the PlayStation Portable has gathered dust (read: delayed might be an understatement). Kotaku ventured to report that the video game might even put on the vaporware bin. The GameStop placeholder for the title still snugly shows an approximate ETA of December though.

Of course, you'd want to know why there's another rumored delay. Actually, the explanation has an eerie resemblance to a rumor mosaic: Rumored Oblivion PSP developer Climax Studios' Portsmouth team are rumored to be having loads of problems with production, hence the rumored delay.

There's enough rumor in there to fuel a giant rumor mill of delay (like here, here, here, and here). Anyway, we'll leave it at that and be on the look out for more news regarding the The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion. Stay tuned.

After only 5 weeks since the last reported figure of 200,000, the legions of Warhammer Online Beta have grown, amassing a total of more than 300,000 players from Europe and North America.

Warhammer Online - Image 1

Gathering such a huge following only at its beta stage is already an accomplishment in itself, but considering WAR's unlucky history this is a tremendous success. The game's development faced a problem in financing in mid-2004 but the developers down at Climax Online carried on under its own financing. It finally halted by the end of the same year because they didn't find a publisher.

EA Mythic finally took WAR up once more on 2005 and is now set to be released as one of the most highly anticipated releases for the PC next year. Not bad for a game that almost shut down entirely. Visit the official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning website to register for the closed beta testing.

We've seen a number of (very creepy) gameplay videos of the much awaited Silent Hill Origins for the PlayStation Portable. We've got a couple more today so hold on to your hats.

Today's dose of Konami and Climax Studios' Silent Hill Origins include the intro video and a gameplay video featuring one readily available weapon, the hammer.

In the opening video, we see truck driver Travis Grady again. Earlier reports indicated his last name as O'Grady but it just says Grady on the trailer. Anyway, our hero was innocently driving and was reminiscing about some childhood memories. He nearly gets into an accident and boom! The events start when he sees a vision of Alessa and wanders into Silent Hill.

The second video features just how you can get rid of the twitching nurses with the adept use of a hammer and when in a pinch, your fists. Anyhow, we'll be getting more and more videos and info on Silent Hill Origins. For now, enjoy the videos!

When you're driving alone at night, we doubt the thought of burning houses, cults and charred little girls ever cross your mind. Imagine just how unlucky Travis O'Grady must be. He's certainly heroic, but who'd have thought he'd be sucked into the crazy horrific world of Silent Hill.

Konami and Climax Studios' Silent Hill: Origins for the PlayStation Portable is a prequel to the original Silent Hill with Dr. Kaufmann, Alessa, and Dahlia Gillespie in attendance. The fifth installment to the survival horror series will definitely bring some mysteries into light. In the first trailer, we see Travis coming upon the burning house - and it looks like Alessa lead him there. We see the poor trucker battling away the twitchy nurses and also running around the already familiar foggy streets of Silent Hill.

Hmm... All these mysteries. You'd have to watch the videos to see what we mean. Keep checking back for more updates on Silent Hill: Origins; meanwhile, enjoy the videos.

The other video comes after the jump!
