Gadget news website Gizmodo has posted what are reportedly the first images of the upcoming cheap version of the TiVo Series 3 personal video recorder.

The whole thing might look like it's made out of cardboard, but apparently the unit shown in the images is just a prototype of the new TiVo. The images also show two CableCARD slots up front, with one labelled as "Multi- or Single-Stream Card". The prototype is also reportedly lighter in overall weight.

Why, hello there! We see that you've found yourself feeling rather "unpacked" a few days too early. So tell us... When exactly will you be released? Because we here at QJ heard a rumor that you'd be out on September 17 for the price of $799. We hope you'd come out with the official statements already.

So what does that say on the first row middle picture below (from Mark Lamb)? "The TiVolution will now be televised on HD"? Yep, we saw that coming... But, yeah, now we see you're hooked up with the whole HD hooplah and oh!, we can also see from the last picture where the dual CableCARDs slots are. Cool beans! At least you're compatible with both 1.0 and 2.0 cards. That's a comfort.
