During the past couple of days, whispers indicate a new controller peripheral (other than the drums and microphone) will be introduced for Guitar Hero: World Tour - for its PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, at least. It turns out that someone got misquoted somewhere, but now it's been clarified. The so-called "new instrument" is actually a feature that uses the PC to record songs into your PS3 or 360 library. It may be a bit anti-climactic for some of you, but it's cool nonetheless. |

The Internet is for pr0n, the Internet is for pr0n... Xbox Live is for Arcade, Xbox Live is for microtransactions... Xbox Live is for cheating - not anymore! And in an interview with Xbox Community Network, and picked up by Xboxic, Tony Hawk Project 8 project lead Brian Bright reveals one more thing the Internet Xbox Live is good for: XCN: Will the analogue trick based system allow for more of an individual style rather than the million points do the same trick in a circle thing? Do you think that the original games essentially became about high point exploits? Bright: ... The games have been about skill and navigating the lines in the world. If someone finds a bug in the game to get a high score, as in the demo, we can title update. That’s the beauty of Live. The ability to fix issues that could spoil the experience of the online players down the road... There are entire clans out there whose main mission is to find exploits in our games. Now with Live we can stop them and even the playing field! There are entire clans out there who're not going to like that revelation from Mr. Bright. Oh, well. THP8 will also have a more robust leaderboard than American Wasteland. There will be 8-player online, career mode leaderboards, best combo, longest grind, so on and so forth. "The addition of these boards extends the replay ability beyond even the sick ending of the game." We'd like to ask: any leaderboards for the most painful nutters? One thing Xbox Live is not for, as far as Neversoft's THPS8 is concerned, is downloadable content. Bright tells XCN that from the start, they've decided to provide "the best value for the consumer in the box. We are not currently planning to do downloadable content for Project 8". Now that's very much old-school thinking right there, and given some recent developments in Xbox Live, we're probably going to hear a few cheers in the comments. There're more details about Tony Hawk Project 8 for the Xbox 360 in the XCN interview (picked up by Xboxic) that you can catch by simply clicking "Read" below. But everything on this page's about the online part of the game, and besides, we're still busy singing with Trekkie Monster. The Xbox Live is for... |

Excitement is really building up in the soon-to-be-released Tony Hawk's Project 8. Brian Bright, THP8's Project Director, says the old codes of Tony Hawk Pro Skater are now kaput, with the next generation of game systems taking over. Players anticipate largely for this new release to be "not another remake" of Underground or THAW. In fact, everyone is looking forward to more realism and not just another cartoonish version of this game. Looks like the THPS makers have listened to the clamor. For this reason, Activision gives us a quick look-over on what's new in THP8. Bright says it's a gargantuan leap from the PS1-PS2 Tony Hawk games. The graphics are as detailed as any PS3 and Xbox 360 game deserves, especially the 3D scanned pro skaters. The old AM, PRO,and SICK levels are still there. And now it's driven by motion capture video, a "layered animation system that provides animations that dynamically react to the physics of the skater." Other new features include: Well, if you loved the screenshots we showed, you'd probably fall for this game! We hate to preempt judgment, but the autumn schedule of release will bear witness to what Activision has been telling us all along. Meanwhile, let's hold on to our seats and, as what Bright says, "Stay tuned!" |

Jump! Tony Hawk is a skateboarding franchise by himself. He can literally just retire and go fish somewhere, and he'd still have enough money to give University-tuition money to his grandchildren. But no, he wants to skate, he's even got this skateboarding game coming out: Tony Hawk's Project 8. Brian Bright, Proj. Director, and Chris Parise, Senior Producer, was interviewed and we got the info right here! Skaters galore and more! The usual skaters are back: Burnquist, Mike V., P-Rod, R. Mullen, and Bam Margera. New blood roster includes: Dolan, Lyn-Z Adams, and Nyjah Huston. There's still some in the works so we'll wait for their names. New Feature is "Nail The Trick." The game slows down, zoom into the skater's feet, and then what goes from there's up to you! Creating tricks on the fly is a piece of cake with this one. Unfortunately, there won't be any "classic levels" here. The "Classic Mode" like Skate and Combo Letters, Secret Tape and High Score challenges will still be here. As for the ones who want to be a legend of their own, besides having a male or female bod, you can have a kid bod as well. Imagine, a kid kicking ass on the grind! The goal system provides an AM, PRO, and Sick difficulty level, that'll give novices and experts the challenges they need. The graphics and physics on this one is just as next-gen as the console themselves. The render engine is a complete overhaul of THAW on the 360. They now have rendering support for the whole environment. This will make the game look more realistic than in the past. Metal, grass, water, and glass shaders let's the players see cracks on the concrete walls and windows. Havok physics allows ragdoll bails, blending with the animation. Controllable bail is a cool feature. It allows the player control how they fall. Instead of falling into a ditch, you could try falling infront of a speeding truck. Mo-capping Tony Hawk and the other skaters will definitely make this game move as realistic as possible. So how Tony moves in the game looks exactly like how he would in real life. The skater will now be able to react dynamically with the environment. Unfortunately, no Xbox Live Vision support for the meantime. Until then, we'll see you in the concrete jungles... |
