As avid retrogamers, we here at QJ.NET are rather wary of "re-imagined" classics. However, when Atari revealed that they were coming out with Warlords on the XBLA, we put these fears aside and decided to check it out. Is it worth the 400 Microsoft points it's being sold for? Casual games are all the rage on Nintendo's latest downloadable game service. Gameloft's Block Breaker Deluxe introduces itself as the premiere WiiWare release for the month of May. It features the same gameplay as the classic Breakout and Arkanoid series placed in a much more colorful and dynamic background. For more details, you can check out the full article after the jump.

One can never get tired of the classics. PSP homebrew developer Durka Durka Mahn has released another incarnation of a classic game, Breakout. Called Ausbruch (which is German for Breakout), the game also sports a level editor. More in the full article.

Are you excited about Rare's upcoming Banjo Kazooie 3 game for the Microsoft Xbox 360? A lot of people are, and we're licking detail morsels like tasty chops. In a recent Scribes post over at the official Rare site, it was hinted that the latest installment to the famed franchise won't be a typical platformer. Full details after the jump.

Developer sephiroth_ff7 has decided to go old-school with the latest release of Cube Breakout version 3.7, a throwback of the classic Breakout game along with its 3D variants. While the game's best features include the 3D and 4D game modes, the newest version includes the classic mode similar to Atari's original release. This version is also a bugfix release according to the homebrew dev.

What we have for you today are three new gameplay videos for the soon-to-be released PlayStation Portable compilation game Atari Classics Evolved. This PSP game contains a good number of gems originally released on platform Atari 2600 and were given several aesthetic improvements for this iteration.

All games included in this particular compilation have been ported to other platforms numerous times. Watch the videos to see what have changed and why these are timeless classics via the "read more" link below.

You cant beat the classic Atari games when it comes to replay value, and with the release of Atari Classics Evolved on the PlayStation Portable it's guaranteed to keep you glued to your handhelds just to beat your high score ("just a bit more, a bit more... oh noooooes!"). Here are two new gameplay videos for the game, featuring Super Breakout and Tempest, to join the likes of Missile Command, Asteroids, Battlezone and Centipede.

As some of you might remember, Super Breakout plays like Pong, only you destroy bricks instead of having to volley the ball around with another player. Meanwhile, Tempest is a shoot-em-up game that emulates a 3D thmosphere. It's like Galaga, only simpler in graphics, but semi-3D in nature. Check out the vids for yourself! Atari Classics Evolved will be released on November 15.

Atari has rolled out an official announcement for Atari Classics Evolved, a PlayStation Portable title that will feature some of the company's most famous titles.

According to the announcement, Atari Classics Evolved will feature titles such as Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout, Tempest, Warlords and Pong. All of the games included in the collection will be available both in original and evolved versions. Evolved versions will feature the same gameplay but will have enhanced graphics.

This particular PSP collection was spotted on Gamefly early in July with a November 15 release date. Atari's announcement only had Atari Classics Evolved set for a Fall release, though. More updates as we get them.

As his entry to this year's XtreamLua contest, The Underminer has released Galactic Breakout, a brick-breaking homebrew game for the PSP. The game features a variety of bricks with different properties, 11 collectible bonuses and 70 levels.

Players can also make their own levels using the level editor and submit their highest scores to an online rankings board. Check out the images below for the controls. The one on the left is for the level editor, while in-game controls are on the right.

There's no readme file included in the downloads so here are the instructions. Just download the appropriate archive below and extract the contents of the 1.0 or 1.5 folder (depending on your PSP's firmware version) to your PSP's GAME folder.
