Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Image 1Now this sure is different from the ones we usually see. Square Enix came up with this TV ad for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers an thought it would be cool if it had Bon Jovi's "We Weren't Born to Follow" in the background. Oddly enough, even with lyrics intersecting with the Japanese voices, it's actually pretty cool.

Talking to BBC, the rocker revealed that Activision had also approached him to appear for the game, which he rejected.

If jamming on a virtual guitar isn't your thing nor is beating a tune on the drums, don't despair because there still might be hope for you. In a video from IGN, we give musically inclined gamers an insider look at the mechanics of how you can properly belt out a tune on that microphone peripheral in Harmonix Music Systems' Rock Band.

While other games that rely on singing out lyrics in time with the music aren't always all that accurate in terms of the actual words, the same holds true for Rock Band. However, some approximation is still required in terms of pitch and catching up to the words while they flash across the screen.

This can especially become a challenge when you have to follow the lyrics to fast-paced songs from bands like OK Go or from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The game however gives you the option to choose other slower, yet more technical, songs like Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and Sound Garden's "Black Hole Sun."

One of the biggest perks when taking the role of the singer, though, is playing to the crowd. You can actually motivate the audience during the lyrical breaks in the song to raise your Overdrive meter. Once you gain the audience's support, there's a chance you'll even get to hear them sing along with you. It's times like these that makes you feel like you're a (virtual) rock star.

Rock Band is set to be released this November 23 by MTV Games on the Xbox 360, PS2, and PS3. In the meantime, check out this video of what it's like to jam on a mike and sing your heart out.

boxartLet's go back to the neon-leggings and puffed-up-coif-donning era we've desperately tried to bury at the back of our brains because of our embarrassingly disgusting fashion sense.

Remember the oldies-but-goodies songs from Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, Phil Collins, Foreigner (!!!), and Pat Benatar? If you don't, well, let Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories refresh your memory 'coz their partial game tracklist boasts of these artists and other 80's wonders!

No kidding folks, they have released the partial tracklist over at the game's site and the list dons the artists mentioned above, along with other bands and artists who made (new) waves back in the 80's. Even if you're not into the era's famous genres, you can't complain about the selection 'coz the artists featured are the ones we can consider as those who really knew their 80's. But we won't talk up the list even further, you be the judge:
  • Philip Bailey - Easy Lover
  • Alan Parsons Project - Games People Play
  • Pat Benatar - Love is a Battlefield
  • Jonzun Crew - Pack Jam
  • Run DMC - It's Like That
  • Whodini - Freaks Come Out At Night
  • Dio - Holy Diver
  • Dokken - Breaking the Chains
  • Ratt - Round and Round
  • Exodus - Together Forever
  • Class Action - Weekend
  • Sister Sledge - Lost in Music
  • Bobby Valentin - Mi Ritmo Es Bueno
  • Hector Lavoe - Mi Gente
  • Willie Colon - El Malo
  • Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing
  • Earth Wind & Fire - Fantasy
  • Keni Burke - Keep Rising to the Top
  • Foreigner - I Want to Know What Love Is
  • The Assembly - Never Never
  • Pat Benatar - We Belong
  • Human League - Love Action
  • Japan - Quiet Life
  • Yaz - Don't Go
Now we gotta agree with 1up on this: where's Journey, Heart, and a bit of Bon Jovi???

Pre-order: [Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories]
