In the video game industry, it's important not to rest on one's laurels. Activision probably knows this. In spite of the fact that its Q4 and fiscal year 2008 financial reports have shown encouraging results, the company is already planning its next ventures in the near future. This was evident in the company's recent conference call. More lucrative news follows after the jump. |

When Activision's CEO made the offhand comment that EA sucked the souls out of the studios it's acquired, we were expecting the fur to fly. The guys at EA didn't bat an eyelash though, saying that they just laughed. Full story after the "read more" link below. |

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently submitted himself to an interview where he said some not very nice things about Electronic Arts. While we can admit that the games giant has had trouble in the past as far as treating their employees are concerned, it's certainly no reason to liken EA to Soul Reaper's Raziel, right? All the details in the full article, as well as the quote itself that Bobby Kotick himself released. |

Less doesn't always mean more. As fun as jamming on Guitar Hero 3 is, some would prefer to rock with their friends as a whole band - enter Rock Band. In the next iteration of the Guitar Hero franchise, we'll probably see just as many instruments as Rock Band has, according to Activision's CEO. Details in the full article. |

If anyone who's been paying attention to the video game industry is to name the big publishers, we'll probably hear Activision and Electronic Arts for good reason. While both have enjoyed success and displayed how much they're willing to pay to acquire development studios, they seem to have different views. For one, unlike EA, Activision doesn't believe Take-Two is attractive enough for acquisition. More details at the full article. |
