Hannah Banana v0.1: save the bananas - Image 1

Blackshark, who also made Ace of Space v1, has come out with Hannah Banana v0.1. This game was created as a birthday present for his friend's little sister so it has a rather kiddy vibe to it. The homebrew has Princess Peach running around saving falling bananas with a trampoline by bouncing it up in the sky.

The developer added various features such as different difficulty settings as well as the ability to load your own music while playing the game. Loading music may cause the game to freeze though but you can easily fix this by pressing select and trying the option again. Another thing you have to keep in mind when using this feature is that MP3 loader looks for the ms0://MUSIC/ directory. If you don't have one in your PSP, the program may crash.

If you want to try this game out, be sure to go over the documentation included in the compressed file.

BlackShark's Ace of Space v1 - Image 1

UPDATE: Reading your comments, we found out that the download link to Ace of Space v.1 is broken. It's all good now, so feel free to download the game. Thanks to Henkibojj and those who commented for the heads up.

Download: Ace of Space v1 (updated)

BlackShark has got a snappy homebrew game for us all. Entitled Ace of Space v.1, this 2D shooter was actually supposed to be entry to the $$$give away contest. Unfortunately for him, though, he didn't make it to the deadline. But nonetheless, why waste something as good as this when you can still share it to everyone, right?

And that's exactly what BlackShark did, bringing his creation over to our forums. So, this is his first real program in C, but we think it's looking suave for a first-time. What you have to do in this game is to shoot as many enemies as you can until they die. It's not that easy though, because they have this reincarnation thing going on, so they just keep respawning and so you just have to keep shooting at them.

As for the controls and other whatnots, we'd leave it to you to go check it out at the readme file. Also, you can join the discussion on our forums by clicking on the Visit link below. Enjoy!

Aside from BlackShark's recent projects like Space Shark Alpha and PvP Pong, ever wondered what else is cooking? This intrepid developer is working on a new Doom port, and as part of testing on the game engine, BlackShark has developed a set of maps titled Perfect Hatred. Here's a screenshot to demonstrate what to expect:

Perfect Hatred - Image 1

While the Doom port's still a TBA deal, the maps should work nicely with StereoMike's Doom-PSP v0.05 (and above) homebrew game. More details on these custom maps are available at the QJ.NET forums, which should be your next stop after downloading this WAD file. Enjoy!

Space Shark - Image 1 Space Shark - Image 2

BlackShark dropped by our forums today to share with us the alpha release for Space Shark, his homebrew game entry for the PxP competition.

The game's controls are as follows: analog stick or D-pad for moving, R to fire, Triangle to turn off the music, and Circle to turn it on. However, BlackShark says that "the charge shot does not fire any thing yet, to make the bar rise as if you were doing a charge shot though, hold both L and R."

He's also currently working on the game modes (campaign, escape the asteroids and classic) and on adding a multiplayer feature for future releases. Now, BlackShark is aware that the game isn't that polished yet (precisely because it's an alpha release) but he still wanted to inform the community about the developments of the game.

That said, why don't you guys check it out for yourself by downloading the game below, and if you have comments and/or suggestions, head on to our forums (click on the release thread below) and help out BlackShark in improving the game.

PvP Pong - Image 1 PvP Pong - Image 2

If you're an avid reader of our PSP blog, you probably have stumbled across BlackShark's homebrew game, PvP Pong. The game got really good responses which made another coder by the name of Ricz make a football version of the game. So anyway, if you liked the Background Changer in v3, you'll be glad to know that BlackShark has added yet another cool feature to the game...online multiplayer!

Oh yes, v4 now comes packed with NetPlay, along with a bunch of new themes. Just a few notes on the online play though, BlackShark says that he hasn't implemented an online settings "chooser" yet so the only way you'll be able to connect is via the first router that appears on your WiFi settings. Not to worry though, he says that this should be fixed in his v5 release.

Changelog:
  • Added ONLINE MULTIPLAYER
  • Added more backgrounds and Themes
  • fixed menu up a bit
  • Better Credits page
  • and as BlackShark says, "some other stuff im sure"
BlackShark also wants to give a shout out to the following people who helped him in PvP Pong v4: PinkTank and pspfreak9 for the graphics, Evil-Dog (for the eboot music), the Mod Archive (for the Background Music) and Doom 2 (for the menu music), AI for right paddle in single player mode, courtesy of GuitarGod1134, and pspgamer81 for getting him started in Lua. Also, Youresam for most of the Online code and NetLib 2.02 and to Zack Attack for the ideas and suggestions, without whom BlackShark says he might not have updated PvP Pong. And as usual, make sure you check out the readme, alrighty?

Game Pack!

It takes a lot of work to have a team of programmers working together to combine their talents. That's why it gives us great pleasure to see another version of the PSPLua Game Pack, now known as G-Pack v0.2

Let's go over the list of this crack tactical squad and their operations today. Squad Leader SuperbatXS and squad vets Tactical Penguin, Ninjax, Xploren, and Yoyomacy have recruited new roughnecks to their cause: Freshmilk, BlackShark, EminentJonFrost, SG57, YongoBongo, and Savagefreak.

Their mission: to expand their coding abilities and entertain the PSP-loving masses.

Contrary to their readme, they've got eight games in this new pack, including betas for Be Thou for the People and Drag-Star. They've also got the HazedMirror dev team's Hedgehog Apocalypse game in this pack, as well as a new version of PvP Pong that comes with online play. The G-Pack's shell also comes with an mp3 player, image viewer, and game loader, among other things. Needless to say, there's a reason why it's 12 MB, and that's because they've packed this little gem with a lot of content.

Before installing this app, be sure you check their readme. It's got installation instructions, notes and issues you'll need to remember while using the game, as well as a list of a lot of people to thank. Don't hesitate to go into our forums to ask them some questions about their games or give them props for a job well done. Enjoy!

UPDATE:
After some talking on the forums, SuperbatXS informed me that they've made an update to G-Pack v0.2. This new version updates the eboot and the readme. You'll be pleased to know that this new version has some added pictures and, more importantly, allows G-Pack v0.2 to run on OE firmwares.

It's still 13 MB though, so for those with slow connections, you may want to make some popcorn and watch a movie in the meantime. You'll probably get the download when you finish watching "Titanic" or something. We hope.
