PS3 bundle - Image 1 There's no word if this will ever land on other regions, but as for Norway (*caveat in full article), there seems to be a new kind of PS3 bundle available. Online retailer Komplett has a 160GB PS3 bundle which includes naught a single Blu-ray disc. Instead, it's packing it in with four PSN coupons for the likes of GT5: Prologue, Super Stardust HD, and such.

game video rentals - Image 1Would you believe that authorities in Belgium are against game rentals? Well, not entirely. They're just against the practice of rental stores not getting licenses from the publishers. Makes them lose money, they say. See what the fuss is all about on game rentals in Belgium after the jump.

Apple faces charges in EU - Image 1 A bizarre thing happens to European patrons of iTunes online music stores. When a European consumer buys music from the iTunes Belgian store, for example, they may only use a credit card issued by the bank with an address in Belgium. Because of this territorial restrictions, consumers are then limited in their freedom to purchase the songs they want, and where they want it bought. As such, the European commission has opened an antitrust probe into Apple's iTunes and the way it sells music online in coordination with major music companies.

The EU Commission does this probe amidst complaints from consumer groups coming from Germany, France, the Netherlands and Nordic countries. Such groups have demanded Apple to change the rules it imposes on its online music stores.

Apple, meanwhile, responds that the company actually wants to operate a single store for all of Europe. But publishers and music labels alike won't have any of this, as they believe Apple's rights are not all-encompassing. Spokesman Steve Dowling says Apple does not believe it did anything to violate the EU law.

Apple has been given a "statement of objections" by the EU Commission. The electronics giant has two months to answer the questions issued in the letter. If found guilty, Apple may be forced to part with as much as 10 percent of its total world income to pay for the EU fines.

ps3 - Image 1If you live in the UK, we're sure it's hard to look for a PlayStation 3 bargain. The high-priced console is made even more expensive by taxes and tariffs in the country, driving the rates even higher and making London the most impractical spot to buy a PS3 in the planet.

If you want a real deal, however, Hong Kong is the place to be. The PS3 sells for the equivalent of only £247 (US$ 486)- a stark contrast when compared with the £425 (US$ 896) that British shops are charging.

Rates are slightly lower in Italy, Belgium and Germany where the PS3 tips £407 (US$ 801) on average. New York has it at £331, while Japanese stores will gladly hand the machine to you at £250 (US$ 492).

The PS3 was reportedly able to sell 165,000 units in its weekend launch in Europe amidst negative press regarding its market performance. It outsold rivals Nintendo Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 in similar events.

On a side note, prisons around Britain are reportedly banning the machine in the big house because of its capability to send and receive radio signals. With a hefty price tag, we're pretty sure there are more economical ways to stage an ill-advised prison break though.

Benelux - Image 1The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is fast picking up momentum in Europe, and a Sony product manager states that roughly 44,000 PS3 units have already been pre-ordered in the Benelux region.

In case you're wondering where Benelux is, it's an economic union of three Western Europe Countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg - that's the unofficial Benelux flag to the right.

Sony has promised 50,000 units for the region, which means that almost 90% of Benelux's allocated units are now reserved as pre-orders. A total of one million PS3 units are being prepared for Europe, with Sony recently announcing plans to ship a total of 6 million units by the end of this March.

The PS3 is expected to launch on March 23 for an estimated price of £ 425 (€ 620), with the event being spearheaded by an official midnight launch at Virgin Megastores' Oxford Street branch in the UK, with similar activities being prepared by retail stores elsewhere in Europe. There is also the PS3's upcoming PlayStation Home feature to look forward to, which offers the console an avatar-based online community that has been compared to the Nintendo Mii community and Second Life - public beta tests for Home are currently being readied.

Eragon the Movie - Image 1Those of you who missed the Eragon movie sure missed a lot. But not to worry, cos now you have the chance to grab the Eragon movie over at Microsoft's Xbox Live. Uh... actually, it's not the full-length movie, per se. It's just the theme. (boo!!!) Oh well.

But it is free, after all. Actually, this theme is in celebration of the release of Eragon for the DVD. So, it's close enough. Anyhow, the theme, obviously, is inspired by the film and will be available in the following territories: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
