Check out the full article for the supposed actual photos of the new in-game XMB feature.

PSPdemon has released ThrottleX Mod v.2. With this latest update, fans of the homebrew game will be delighted with several changes, which include: a new Editor interface look, a new Replay interface look, 3 new maps which are called TheClimb, LuckyJet, and MazeofTrouble.

Those who'll find the MazeofTrouble quite difficult, the key is to know how to properly spin in mid air. With lots of practice, you'd find yourself thinking that the map is really easy. He also added that TheClimb and LuckyJet are two basic maps where proper way of jetting into corners and climbing can be mastered. These are the techniques needed to survive the MazeofTrouble.

PSPDemon also added more choices between car skins, wheel textures and tile textures. More changes will come later on in the mod. We can look forward to music, different sounds, more maps, and more choices between tile textures and wheel textures. They will come in packs later on, unless ThrottleX creator Anonymous Tipster comes out with a new version.

My car falls off the highway

From Anonymous Tipster comes one of the more sophisticated homebrew PSP games: ThrottleX 0.3. It supports online play and it comes with a level editor.

Improvements over the previous version are:

  • Round wheels

  • Level Editor (the download below contains the PDF tutorial)

  • Save/View Replays

  • 15 new levels

  • Downloadable levels

  • Online Infrastructure play

  • De-activated auto-reset (use Tri if you've failed)

  • Analog steering

  • Sound effects

  • Better camera

Basic Game Controls:

  • DPad/Analog to steer
  • Cross to accelerate
  • Circle to brake
  • Square to reverse
  • Triangle to reset

Anonymous Tipster included information about the online play feature of the game:

  • If you wish to host, or are having connection problems, you need to forward port 55555 TCP and 55556 UDP on your router.

  • Online play is currently only for 2 players due to lag, but once the engine is improved, I hope to add up to 16 players.

  • The server gets to set "upload" speed. The lower the value, the more times information is sent. Lower the value if the game seems to jump along. Raise the value for greater stability.

  • This online play is experimental so may not be 100% stable (not sure anything is 100% stable) but I hope you'll enjoy the addition.

You can read more about the level editor in the full version of this article (link below).

By the way, there are other ThrottleX versions over at our download site (links below).

f.e.a.r.

That F.E.A.R. is all set to shock Xbox 360 is old news. The new news, or rather rumor, is that it will be on PS3, too, according to CVG. CVG's anonymous tipster didn't give much detail and the ones that he did leak out are unconfirmed. CVG contacted Vivendi regarding F.E.A.R's appearance on Sony's next-gen console but the company gave the standard "no comment".  But as you must all know by now, "no comment" could mean anything, nothing, or everything. Will somebody hand us the Rumors Folder please...

umpc

Mobility Today received picture above from an anonymous tipster from Korea. The mysterious pic came with an equally cryptic info that this mythical UMPC is powered by an AMD GeodeTM LX800, has 256MB RAM and will probably run on Windows XP. And it is said to be priced under $700, a bargain if you're in the market for a UMPC.

This much we do know. The Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) formerly known as Project Origami, is a specification for a small form factor tablet PC. This was joint project between Microsoft, Intel, and Samsung, among others. Current UMPCs feature the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 operating system and low-voltage Intel Pentium or VIA C7-M processors in the 1 GHz range.

So what is this mysterious and alleged cheap UMPC? We just have to wait until August 10 to find out!
