HMV exec reports Wii demand still high - Image 1According to HMV, the Wii is still practically flying off store shelves as consumer demand for the console stays at an all-time high. If this trend continues, supply for the holiday season will surely run out.

But on the upside, game sales have been rising as well, and not just Nintendo's first-party titles. Tim Ellis says that third-party games are now racking up sales numbers.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core launches February 2008 - Image 1Publisher 505 Games sent out word that Nintendo Wii owners can finally get their hands on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core as the title launches in North America this coming February 2008. It is being developed by Arc System Works and is actually the third installment of the successful franchise.

Accent Core features a major graphical overhaul to make it more enticing to video gamers. Aside from that, the title also sports gameplay changes with the inclusion of never-before-seen moves such as Force Break, Slashback, and Slip Throws.

The number of characters has been upped to 20 not to mention the alternate EX version for each. Of course, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core has also been made compatible with the Wii's motion-sensing controllers.

Arc System Works mentioned that the normal and rather weak character moves are mapped in the Wiimote button while the stronger ones can be pulled off using the combination of the two. While waiting for the actual launch and other updates, just enjoy the screenshots below!

Cooking Mama Cook Off - Image 1The cult hit that took the gaming community by a silent storm will be serving seconds. 505 Games, in a collaboration with Cooking Mama Ltd., has announced a sequel to Cooking Mama for both the Nintendo DS and the Wii, slated for a release early next year.

The game will be published for Europe and will (and must!) contain new recipes and challenges. The game will have twice as many mini games and will now feature a multiplayer mode for the DS. The multiplayer mode will pit players' cooking skills against each other in a cook off. It sounds like an Iron Chef version for Cooking Mama (Iron Mama?).

Ian Howe, Managing Director of 505 games says: "Following on from the phenomenal success of Cooking Mama, we're thrilled to be bringing Cooking Mama 2 to Europe. Cooking Mama delivered a truly original IP and Cooking Mama 2 promises to build on its success."

Chart Track UK: all-platform top 10 games, July 21 - Image 1

And how goes the gamers from the UK for the week past July 17? Chart Track's been busy as a bee, and it appears all you Harry Potter fans were, too. Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix (PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, mobiles) from Electronic Arts is still "leviosa-ing" at the top of the charts with Activision's Transformers: The Game rolling out at second.

And those who haven't got their minds locked on either movie-based games are still bench-pressing those neurons with More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima from Nintendo, with fellow Nintendo brain-twister Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree close in tow. Fifth spot is Wii Play's playground, with the Nintendo title still frolicking in the top ten, Wiimote in hand. Activision's Shrek The Third lumbers over to number six, while Take-Two's The Darkness lurks on number seven.

Nintendo's Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training brainstorms to eight spot, while simmering in at number nine is 505 Games' Cooking Mama. And re-entering the charts is Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 with a straight cut into the all-platforms' upper ten, giving the golfing title a shot for the birdie.
  1. Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix (Electronic Arts)
  2. Transformers: The Game (Activision)
  3. More Brain Training from Dr. Kawashima (Nintendo)
  4. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Nintendo)
  5. Wii Play (Nintendo)

Cookie and Cream - Image 1

Another strange platform adventure comes out for the DS in the form of the deliciously-named Cookie & Cream, published by 505 Games. These two characters, who originally appeared in PlayStation 2's Kuri Kuri Mix, are now raring to go for another adventure on the DS.

This DS exclusive will have players control both of them at the same time. On the top screen, Cookie can breeze through the game using the D-pad and buttons, while Cream can be nudged around on the touch screen with the stylus, and follows commands made through the microphone. Thiscontrol scheme is very similar to another upcoming DS exclusive title, Square-Enix' It's a Wonderful World

In order to solve the mystery of who stole the moon, Cookie will need Cream's help in disabling traps and getting rid of enemies as well as other obstacles. Knowing when to use each of the characters, and mastering their abilities is a must if players want to finish the game.

To be released in September, Cookie & Cream will also feature multiplayer battle modes up to four players as well as cooperative two-player gameplay.
