Thailand copies list of violent games to avoid from Detroit list? - Image 1It seems the murder of a taxi cab driver in Thailand has taken an even stranger turn, besides the whole "It's linked to Grand Theft Auto" business. It seems the Thai government has released a list of games that have been deemed as violent games to avoid.

The only thing about it? It seems to have been taken from a list made in Detroit. More after the jump.

Video Games - Image 1Worried about the possibility of video game violence tainting the minds of children, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy came up with a "do not buy" list of violent video games.

Contrary to what most might expect, Rockstar Games' controversial Manhunt 2 (Wii, Sony PlayStation Portable) isn't the number one violent video game, but Grand Theft Auto is. Check out the Top Ten list in the full article.

In an interview with one of the founding members of the Bitmap Brothers, Mike Montgomery has unveiled new features that not even Speedball 2100 was able to take advantage of: online multiplayer. Speedball 2 may be a graphically ramped up, realistic port of the original title, but now it has an extended online and multiplayer repertoire.

Speedball 2 for the PC from Kylotonn Entertainment - Image 1

Montgomery has revealed to German publisher Frogster that the game will allow players to compete online for a virtual world cup. He boasts about an "advanced online community" and ranking system, all that will be accessible over the game's official online portal Speedball2.com. There are hopes the Kylotonn will be able to negotiate a possibility for the game to enter the pro-gaming scene, also.

Speedball.com will also provide instant messaging for gamers connected to it, including the ability to participate in the online community message boards and even access an online marketplace within the portal. Players may purchase additional special items, armor and weaponry, including additional merchandising and fan content.

The game isn't completely isolated for online play, as cromix of fansite SpeedballHQ points out. It will also offer LAN play for localized tournament action. And if that's not enough, Kylotonn also claims that online friends will be able to take the roles of your teammates, and play against the A.I. or another team of players.

Nilzxx sent us a message recently about a YouTube video he created for fans of the homebrew scene. In it, you'll actually get to see a real-time installation of Dark_Alex's 3.03 OE-A' custom firmware.

As he sent in his email, Nilzxx tells us,

I filmed how easy it is to upgrade to OE-A'. I think that some people think it's too much work to upgrade again and won't do it because of that. Well, this shows that you can easily upgrade in 1 minute. I also show how easy it is to overclock the CPU for UMD and ISO games.

The one minute thing is an exaggeration on his part, but we don't mind. He's got some nice reggae music in the background while the PSP updates itself. It's followed by 50 Cent's "Candy Shop", which is quite a leap from reggae, but still nice to listen to.

The only thing we can't really see right now is his starting firmware, as well as a handy-dandy voiceover from the cameraman, but it's a small thing. Right now, we're just happily entertained by it. Enjoy the video, and if you're itching to know more about upgrading, here's a link to one of the tutorials for it on our forums.

50 Cent: Bulletproof - Image 1 High Voltage Software and Vivendi Games have released 50 Cent: Bulletproof G Unit Edition in Europe on October 27, 2006. The game was released in the US on September 12, and the Australian release followed soon after on September 30. The recommended selling price is US$ 39.99.

In the game, you follow 50 Cent through his adventures in a New York drug underworld story where he has to hunt down the hitmen who tried to get him. The game got an M (Mature 17+) rating from the ESRB, adding to controversy about claims that the game has educational values: 50 Cent said the game teaches kids about the violence of gang life in order to avoid it.

This game is a "reworking" of 50 Cent: Bulletproof for the Xbox and PS2. What's the main difference? The PSP version has a top-down perspective.

For fans of the music, 50 Cent: Bulletproof G Unit Edition features music videos and new original music from 50 Cent and Sha Money XL.
