Yes, I’m against Collector’s Edition junk. But the 25th anniversary of a game is different, and Capcom is really bringing it with this ridiculous boxed set.

One thing that is great about the gaming community is when members of one of the scenes come together and create something truly amazing. If you are a fan of Pokemon games or just want to see what dedication and hard work can create then Pokemon Liquid Crystal is something you won't want to miss...

The developer of Flower and Journey is ready to expand beyond PSN.
If you have a PS3 and you enjoy indie games, chances are good you’ve spent a little time with flow and Flower. Both titles, developed by thatgamecompany, were instant successes with both critics and players alike. Their next title, Journey, has just been given an official release date (March 13).
So what’s next for thatgamecompany? Well, for starters, they’d like to expand beyond PSN. According to co-founder Jenova Chen, the studio’s primary goal for their next titles is finding a wider audience. Chen noted that the studio had a three game, Sony-exclusive contract, but with Journey set for release, thatgamecompany is now free to pursue other methods of distribution.
Chen said that the studio is currently in negotiations to bring its games to other platforms, but that discussions were still in the early stages and no public announcements could be made quite yet.
Have you played any of thatgamecompany’s titles? Would you like to see them on Steam, or XBLA?

In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, Blizzard Entertainment has just announced that they’ll be releasing World of Warcraft Monopoly and StarCraft RISK. This puts the two video game franchises in the elite company of other ridiculous sellouts, such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and the Chicago Bears.

The indie game managed to best big-name opponents like Portal 2 and Pokémon to take the top prize at one of the Europe’s biggest games festivals.
GameCity is a massive video game convention/party that took place in Nottingham, U.K. last week. The festival, which is more than a trade show, is focused on connecting gamers with developers and exploring the nooks and crannies of gaming culture. Each year they award one game a grand prize, and this year a bright-eyed newcomer managed to snatch the title away from some of the biggest brands in the business.
Face with competition from games like Portal 2, LIMBO and Pokémon Black/White, Minecraft took the show’s top award. One interesting element of how the game is chosen – GameCity puts a jury together of people that don’t usually play games, comprised of celebrities and academics that play each game over a certain period of time preceding the festival. This gives the grand prize award a special twist, since it’s mostly free of the influence of brand loyalties or media hype.
While it’s fun to see an independently developed game earning some recognition, it’s also not much of a surprise – Minecraft is already a critical darling and has been downloaded millions of times by gamers that developed an immediate passion for its free-roaming content. The game is technically still in development, but look for plenty of other awards to come its way as soon as the retail version goes live.
Would you say that Minecraft is better than Portal 2? Better than Pokémon? Sound off in the comments.

The recent registration of the Pokémon Gray domain and persistent rumors indicate that your favorite collectable creatures may be preparing for their 3D debut.
This year saw the launch of Pokémon White and Pokémon Black for the Nintendo DS. Both games were about as successful as Pokémon games usually are, and received about the same response from critics and fans as usual. Nintendo is the one company in gaming that seems to understand the maxim of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and Pokémon is the crown jewel of their empire. Before the latest round of Pokémon games were announced and long before they hit our handhelds, Nintendo purchased the Pokemonblackwhite.com domain through Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services.
Now it looks like fans of the Pokémon brand have something new to look forward to, as the very same company has recently put a lock on Pokemongray.com. It could be some savvy web user looking to extort a few thousand dollars out of Nintendo, but it’s more likely that Nintendo is once again using Melbourne IT DBS to set up a domain for its next big property.
The site is pretty bland and states only:
“This Internet address is being managed by Melbourne IT DBS for one of the world's top brands. At the present time there is no active Web Site for the address. It may be under construction, or the owner may have reserved the address for future needs. “
So before we get all excited and start arguing about our favorite Pokémon, it’s probably best to wait for an official announcement. One can’t help but think this might be the first Pokémon title to grace the Nintendo DS; it’s pretty much the only major Nintendo franchise that hasn’t made an appearance on the device. Of course, if history is any indicator, the game is more likely headed to the regular Nintendo DS, with remastered or brand new games hitting the 3DS a little while later. That’s what we saw with Pokémon Silver and Soul Silver, for example.
What do you think is going to happen? 3D Pokémon or DS Black/White mash-up? Do you think Pokémon’s simplistic gameplay will transfer well into 3D?

The holiday new-game avalanche begins next week. Which new top-tier title are you planning on picking up?
We’re a full week into October now, and the holiday games rush is just starting to pick up. While next week’s launch is relatively small compared to the weeks to come, it still marks an important transition from the regular game launch schedule into the full-tilt holiday barrage. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the big titles headed our way in the month of October.
October 11 - Forza Motorsport 4
An Xbox 360 exclusive, “Forza Motorsport 4” boasts new cars, graphical improvements and improvements in both car handling and tuning. Reviews have been trickling in all week and the general consensus seems to be that the game holds up to its predecessors, especially when it comes to online racing. There’s a demo available now on Xbox Live.
October 18 - Batman: Arkham City
Following the events of “Arkham Asylum,” “Arkham City” revolves around the Riddler and yet another set of nefarious deeds conducted by familiar Batman villains. Preliminary reviews have been extremely positive, so it looks like this is going to be a critical darling come release. As a side note, if you pre-order this game at Wal-Mart, you’ll get a $10 gift card and the original “Arkham Asylum: GOTY Edition” as bonuses.
October 25 - Battlefield 3
While there are certainly huge titles coming out this year, much of the gaming press has been focused on the upcoming showdown between EA’s “Battlefield 3” and Activision’s “Modern Warfare 3.” This newest iteration of the “Battlefield” franchise is sure to be a juggernaut and features a new graphics engine that’s very, very pretty. The multiplayer beta is still live if you want to get an early taste.
October 24 - Kirby’s Return to Dreamland
Okay, so admittedly this game isn’t on the same scale as the other three, nor does it have any chance of becoming a massive hit in the way that “Battlefield 3” probably will. That being said, Kirby’s newest adventure is probably the biggest Nintendo title of the month, followed by a new “Professor Layton” title and “Pokémon Rumble Blast.” Since none of the three big titles are headed to Nintendo consoles, it looks like Nintendo fans will just have to make due.
What game are you planning on buying this month? “Battlefield 3” is a sure thing for me, but I’m really digging the “Forza” demo.
