Bikinis are coming to Soul Calibur. At least Namco is being honest.
Enjoying Soul Calibur V? Of course not – it doesn’t hit shelves until January 31. But just because the game hasn’t been released yet doesn’t mean there can’t be DLC, right? Right. Namco Bandai has announced the first round of Soul Calibur V DLC, set to land at the same time as the game’s European release on February 3.
So what’s in this first batch of DLC, you ask? According to Namco Bandai, the DLC contains “exotic costumes.” Loosely translated, this means face paint, wigs and yes, bikinis. While it seems a little ridiculous to introduce bikinis into a fighting game, this is, after all, Soul Calibur. It’s good to see Namco embracing its target demographic.
This pack is the first of three set for February release, with the second landing February 14 and the third landing February 28. The next two updates contain accessories like clothing, masks and “breast plates,” and all three updates are packed with some classic Soul Calibur music. Each DLC pack is priced at 160 MS Points/ €1.99.
What do you think of day one DLC? It doesn’t seem so terrible when it’s purely aesthetic items.
Also, are you planning on buying any bikinis?

The caped crusader’s latest adventure landed to great reviews and high praise, but a problem with DLC has a few gamers angry and demanding action.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Batman: Arkham City one of the most beloved titles of the year. The game’s scores are excellent across the board, with many gaming outlets stopping just shy of calling it the best game ever made. But a polished story, great voice acting and pitch-perfect controls may not save the game from the scandal that’s currently brewing for some players, which revolves around the Robin and Catwoman downloadable packs.
Here’s the basics on the two content packages: The Robin content was offered to players that pre-ordered Arkham City at Best Buy, but can also be downloaded from PSN or Live. The Catwoman content is only available to people that purchase the game new, because it comes packed with a one-time use code. Basically, the DLC packs are Rocksteady’s method for ensuring gamers purchase their title brand new instead of used. This “new-only” ruse is becoming increasingly common for developers looking to encourage new purchases.
There are a couple of things going wrong here. First, some players are experiencing issues with the Robin DLC, receiving errors that the file is corrupt sometimes hours into the game. Rocksteady has apparently resolved this problem, and their Twitter account states:
“Robin DLC problems have been fixed: retry your code in 2 hours. Thankyou for your patience!” So if you were having problems, give it a go (Tweet is pretty old by now).
The Catwoman problem is completely different – apparently, some copies of the game shipped without the necessary code for accessing the Catwoman DLC. Rocksteady is still working on this one, here’s their update from Twitter:
“We are aware that some people did not receive the Catwoman code in their game. You will get to play as the sexy thief, stay tuned for update.”
There’s nothing new to report so far, as Rocksteady has mostly been tweeting about a fan meetup and giving away cool stuff to Twitter followers.
Did your Arkham City DLC work, or are you one of the few that are stuck waiting for some sort of fix? All these innovations are certainly great, but I can’t help feeling like we may have been better off in the Nintendo 64 days.

Ó

So, remember when Microsoft went on a banning spree over at the Xbox Live last week? They were pretty much secretive about the whole "Marketplace Theft" issue.
Apparently, though, it appears that one particular DLC is the root cause of all this drama. As reports would have it, a glitch present in the Rezurrection DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops is the one causing all the trouble for the gamers. What happens is that the glitch flags their Xbox 360 units as being stolen. The consequence for this is that the XBL account attached to the unit thereby gets banned.
The glitch seems to be pretty random, and so it doesn't really matter whether or not your unit is indeed stolen. Those banned were only so unfortunate as to download the game's add-on, and thereby is burdened with the banning consequence.
To make things more frustrating, Microsoft apparently wants to keep things under wraps until they are able to figure out a way to deal with the issue. This is rather surprising considering how swiftly and transparently they dealt with the previous security issue on their system. I just hope that this media blackout won't be for too long because really, the consumers are obviously on the losing end of this whole brouhaha. Meanwhile, if this be true, Activision should say something about the matter as well.
The CoD: Black Ops Rezurrection Pack came out for both the XBL and PSN back in September 23rd. The bannings commenced shortly after that for XBL subscribers.

It was supposed to be a secret, but apparently, one supposed designer of THQ couldn't help but spill the beans as to who the mystery superstar for WWE 12 is going to be.
The unnamed THQ designer said thus in the comments section of Captain Starball: "It is Razor Ramon. I am part of the design crew at THQ and have seen the finished roster. I am not revealing any other superstars or divas because that wouldn't be fun."
Of course, the natural reaction is for people to ask for proof. Challenged to provide a picture as evidence to his claim, the designer replied, "No, I don't, I am not allowed to release any images unless marketing allows me. Now there is a chance he is not the mystery superstar as I designed the game, not market it.
As far as I know he is in as either the ms (most likely since he fits the bill) or another dlc. However recently, they wanted us to design someone else other than the 14 hidden superstars/ divas as they said one of them is too buggy and glitchy. We the design team asked if we could just finish the one that is messed up, but they said no, it would not make a difference."
Okay, based on how that went, we're going to have to tag this as rumor. What's certain is Razor Ramon has been designed for WWE 12, we just don't know for sure if he's going to be marketed as the mystery superstar or not.
It definitely is very curious to have this guy claiming himself to be a THQ designer talk openly about what's supposed to be a secret. He does sound to know a whole lot about the project, but still, we're going to have to practice caution and take all that he's said with a grain of salt.
One thing's for sure, Goldberg will be skipping out on WWE 12. Just last week, THQ also confirmed WWE All Stars to be coming to the 3DS by November.

So a lot of people weren't all too impressed when Capcom announced the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Unfortunately, this news item here doesn't make it much better, particularly because it's about how it's coming out only in disc-form.
Yep, no upgrading for all you hoping to just do away with the extra cost of buying another copy. Most fans would have wanted to just get it in DLC form, but Capcom is having none of that.
Said producer Ryota Niitsuma, "Right now, we're only thinking about releasing a disc version." He furthered, "Given the development schedule, there wasn't enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route."
So how much are you going to have to shell out if you want this improved version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3? US$ 39.99 at retail. As most of our readers have pointed out, that was one heck of an expensive beta release you pulled back there, Capcom.
