This tandem is one that's sure to go down into the "Awesome" section of gaming history books. And to think it almost didn't happen!
Capcom confirmed that Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will be making an appearance at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show event later this week.
According to their schedule, Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright wil be taking the stage as part of the Capcom show on September 16th, from 1:40PM to 2:10PM, Tokyo time.
Since we all can't fly to Tokyo for the TGS and catch this appearance in person, here are the different times you can catch it if you're going to be tuning in via streaming or whatnot: 2:40PM, Sydney; 5:40Am BST; 12:40AM EDT, 9:40PM PDT, September 15th.
Ushering them onto the TGS stage are Capcom's Shu Takumi and Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino. It's expected that the duo will be divulging some more pertinent information about the outing of the professor and the Attorney on the 3DS.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that they will finally say something about a Western release for this game. All we have to hold on to is this old trailer from last year's Tokyo event.
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney was first confirmed last year. Keiji Inafune of Capcom revealed that time that he thought it would be "impossible" to get these two heavy-hitting franchises together, but we're glad they did make it happen.

We just might be seeing CyberConnect 2's upcoming title head over to the Wii U, this according to Capcom over at their official community page.
Said company representatives on their latest "Ask Capcom" episode, they could very well do exactly just that, if the fans ask for it. All they would require of their loyal followers is to make as much noise for it, and if there's enough demand for it, then they just might adhere to your requests.
So far, Asura's Wrath is confirmed only for the PS3 and Xbox 360, set to come out sometime next year. It was first unveiled and announced at last year's TGS.

If there's one thing you should be on the keen lookout for in the upcoming SSX title from EA Canada, it should be the avalanches.
Divulged producer Todd Batty in the latest OXM issue, "Our original thought for avalances was to create a big, awesome, scripted experience: player drops onto a certain mountain, player rides through invisible trigger volume and the game spawns an avalanche in a place where if the player takes the correct path or rides fast enough he narrowly escapes disaster."
However, they opted to ditch that kind of scripted adventure, and instead gunned for a more dynamic "snow system".
"With this type of scripted experience we can trigger different cameras and really pay off the big cinematic manner, and I'm certain it would have been very cool," he said. "The problem here is that this sort of design is not scalable, and there is very little replayability for the player.
It takes a tremendous amount of effort to create a single 'moment' that the player then experiences only once, on a single level. So, we instead opted to create a new snow 'system' whereby ona ny level in the game, every time the player carves a turn in deep enough snow, we are spawning a volume of physics particles proportional to the force that the rider is exerting on the terrain."
That does sound more complicated, doesn't it? SSX: Deadly Descents launched its first dev diary back in April, which should provide for a closer look at how the folks from EA Canada wove this magical, snowy treat. Also in the same month, they sent out the first ever gameplay trailer for the game, which should get fans all excited.

Super Street Fighter IV 3DS does not have a fan in game developer BlazBlue. Yoshimichi Mori, in a recent interview with the Official Nintendo Magazine, divulged that he doesn't find the game's controls to be too smart.
"Super Street Fighter IV 3D has easy special move buttons. As hardcore fighting fans we don't think that's right, so we chose to display a list of combos [for BlazBlue 3DS] instead of easy attack buttons."
Of course, there should be some adjustments to make when playing a fighting game with touchscreen buttons. But is it really all that bad? For more on Mori's interview with ONM, make sure to check out their June issue, which is now available in retail.

Blizzard's Battle.net is turning out to be quite the battle for its developer. Blizzard has recently admitted to Eurogamer that they are in fact running into problems making it, but are nonetheless fight their way through it just to make it available for the consumers.
They are definitely struggling, so much so that they're not even sure when they can be ready to launch it. While that does not sound good for awaiting fans, Blizzard was quick to reassure that they are working on the double to sort things out.
Said StarCraft II lead designer, Dustin Browder, "As you can imagine there is an immense number of challenges for us to overcome. We're trying to deal with those issues."
He furthered, "I don't know how we're going to solve some of the player rights issues. How do players protect their own maps so they don't get ripped off by other players? What are the rules of how much you're allowed to charge? There's just a ton of work for us to figure out."
And for all the trouble and controversy Battle.net has caused - and is causing - them, Browder insists that they will be surging ahead with this one. "We've cancelled whole games before. Warcraft Adventures never made it out and that game was basically done," he started.
"But we are working very hard on it. We have a bunch of people dedicated to it. I have every hope and belief and faith in its success and we're absolutely committed to getting it done."
What's for certain, though, is that you can certainly not expect it anytime soon. "It's definitely a distance down the road. It's not in the next month. It's going to be some distance before we get this in the hands of the fans."
We wish them all the luck in this endeavor, then. Hopefully, it will be worth all the trouble for them.
