In light of tough second week sales, it looks like some Japanese retailers are cutting the PS Vita’s sale price.
The PS Vita, as we mentioned earlier in the week, had a pretty rough second week. After opening strong with over 324,000 sales, the device tanked by 78% and was outsold by both the 3DS and the original PSP. The 3G model in particular isn’t moving well, with retailers reporting that only 56% of those units have been picked up compared to 85% of the WiFi only version.
The tough week has led many analysts to panic about the device’s future and clamor for a potential price drop, but Sony has remained mostly mute on the subject. Now, however, it looks like Japanese retailers are speaking for the software company, dropping prices of their own accord.
According to Edge, one retailer has dropped the price on the 3G Vita from ¥29,980 to ¥24,999, a drop of around 17%. While only one retailer appears to be engaged in the price drop, it may trigger a domino effect of discounts across the nation – either to stay competitive, or simply to entice more people to buy the device.
In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see how the events in Japan translate here in the west. Vita could do better and it could do worse ;most of the launch games have a bigger western following than they do in Japan.
What do you think will happen with Vita when it hits shelves in March?

The anger moves from the skies to the waters. Angry Birds spin-off game, Angry Fish, has gone live on Xbox Live Indie Games.
Developed and published by Frozen Software, Angry Fish is, shall we say, almost an exact copy of Rovio's hit title. Except, obviously, for the bit where instead of birds, there are fish.
Notwithstanding the obvious copy, it actually looks to be a pretty fun game in and of itself. I don't quite understand what the cat is doing underwater, but oh well. Whatever suits them.
Angry Fish is now out on the XBL Indie Games, and is available for 80MS Points. I kinda doubt it will achieve the success that Angry Birds has (definitely no movie rights are anywhere in sight for Angry Fish), but since Microsoft still hasn't got them birds on board, unlike the PSN, this will have to do for now.

While id Software's John Carmack is a fan of Apple's technology, he will not go so far as to concur with the claims that iPad 2's power is equal to that of consoles.
He says of Apple's mobile device, "We have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to mobile development." If it were up to him, though, he would much rather have developers bring in their games to consoles and rake in big bucks than pouring it all to iOS games. "We have more power than you can afford to take advantage of.
Regarding the "incorrect hyperbole" of iPad 2's power, "There's been incorrect hyperbole about the power of these devices, where people are saying that they have console-level performance. The iPad 2 has about half the performance power, and that's a ballpark estimate."
He still closes, though, with a positive word for mobile devices. "But that does mean that mobile devices coming out, certainly next year, will be flat out more powerful, and they'll probably be powerful enough where you don't even need the hyper-optimizing, that you could do a fairly easy port-over of your technology and assets."
Earlier last month, Electronic Arts dissed on the App Store, saying that its model is in "freefall".

I am sure all of us are aware of Geo-tagging. If you are not, then let us explain. Geotagging is when GPS coordinates are added to your photos. These tell you exactly where in the world your photo was taken. If you share these photos through Facebook and Twitter then there is every chance that your home locations coordinates are being displayed to everybody.

A few weeks ago, Comex- a developer of popular jailbreaking tools like JailbreakMe and Spirit had reported that he had found a way to successfully jailbreak iOS 4.3 on the iPad 2. On asking the developer about how he went about jailbreaking iOS 4.3 on the iPad 2, it has been found that he used a userland exploit. This means that this kind of a jailbreak can be applied directly from the iPad 2 very similar to JailbreakMe.

Previously, rumors came alive and kicking about a second Wii model coming to the market. Developer High Voltage Software wasted no time what they would want to see if the Wii 2 does come to fruition.
For the Wii developer, the first generation Wii is already "haggard". Eric Nofsinger, Chief Creative Officer, explains, "From a development standpiont and from a games perspective, really there's not much that it would need. The primary things that would really help out the system is more memory, of course - you always want more memory on whatever system you're working on - and HD output."
He furthers, "Having a fixed output resolution of 480p, even in widescreen, it's hard, because you make these assets and you know they look really great. Even if you show the same type of graphics but put it on a higher resolution output, it just immediately looks better on most modern televisions in the home."
"If they could just have a higher output resolution and more memory, really the system could do a lot. You also want a faster processor. Multi-core would be great. But even if they just did only those two things we'd be very excited about it as a developer. They'd be hard pressed not to do those two things."
Would they want certain improvements on their motion control? They were, after all, the first among the consoles to come out with motion controllers.
"I would love to see [motion control] transferred over. I think they were a trend leader with that. It works really well, especially with MotionPlus. I'd love to see them expand on that more. i'd like to see that incorporated into the hardware unit."
That's not to say, however, that they'd want a Kinect-style controller for the next Wii, if they do come out with one.
"It's an interesting piece of hardware but I still feel like no one has come out with that concept that makes me as a gamer want to reach out and go, I gotta get this! This is awesome!
It's cool. We like it. It's just I don't think anyone's come up with that idea yet. I'm waiting for that brilliant idea that only works because it's a Kinect thing.
Will Wright or somebody is going to come up with it and then everybody's goin to come up with a dozen knock-offs. Not having a button is such a huge risk, and it's a challenge as a design concept. Even iPhone has a button. Even they get you to have at least one button. It's hard. It's a really challenging thing.
I'm sure people are going to figure it out and there are going to be some really neat ideas."
With rumors kicking into high gear about Nintendo coming up with a Wii 2, developer High Voltage Software wasted no time saying what they would want to see in it if it does come to fruition.
