SimLife 2012! SimLife 2012! Make it happen, guys.
Man, how did companies market games and make announcements before Twitter? EA PR rep Erik Reynolds dropped a minor bomb on his Twitter feed early this month, hinting at a big Maxis reveal at this year’s Game Developer Conference in San Francisco. He followed the tweet by pointing fans to the Game Changers Facebook page, where more information will supposedly follow over time.
Naturally, the internet is already freaking out over what Maxis could be up to. Most people seem to agree that the company will announce a brand new SimCity title, and since that’s one of the company’s strongest franchises, there’s really no reason to doubt. However, Maxis has so many other great games in its past, it would be cool to see a revival of something else. SimLife, SimAnt, SimTower, SimCopter—all are long overdue for an HD remake or brand new edition.
We’ll just have to wait until GDC to find out. The conference runs March 5 through 9 – you can still register if you live in the area and want to stop by.
What do you think Maxis is up to? What would you like them to release?

Ben Heck, the famed Xbox 360 modder, has finally given in to incessant requests and demands that he do something about the problematic multiple disc problems on Microsoft's console.

We've seen it all before. New game comes out, turns out to be majorly massive in size, game can't fit in one Xbox 360 disc, publisher comes out with two or three discs. Player buys game, finds his game flow cut off by the signal to swap discs in order to continue. It's a little thing, really, but it's those little things that add up and turn out to be particularly annoying.
Well, the modder has had enough of that -- as well as fans' needy demands -- and so has set out to make his own homemade automatic disc changer for the Xbox 360. So how did he do it?
His crafty, resourceful self got a modified Sony CD changer, and placed it within the DVD drive of the Xbox 360. And then, disc selection is controlled by an Arduino microcontroller. The whole setup is then attached to the Xbox 360's motherboard, and voila! He now successfully has freed Xbox 360 gamers everywhere from the tedious task of swapping discs in the middle of the game!
Some of the games that had to come out in multiple discs for the Xbox 360 were Castlevia: Lords of Shadow, which was supposedly just a day long, and yet still came out in two discs; Rockstar Games' L.A. Noire, which came in threes; as well as Final Fantasy XIII, which also got squeezed in three discs.
There's certainly no chance that this mod will be going to retail, but you can check out its wonders via the link below.
