Bethesda releases full patch notes for their latest Skyrim update, now in the certification testing.
It seems like it’s been forever since the launch of Skyrim, but millions of gamers are still spending their free time slaying dragons and “accidentally” murdering their followers. And, as is customary with Bethesda games, Skyrim still has a fair few issues interfering with players’ ability to fully enjoy the game.
The company is more than aware of Skyrim’s issues and has been working non-stop to get them fixed –especially the ever-present PS3 bug that makes the game nearly unplayable for some users. I’ll skip the analysis and go straight to the patch notes. If you’re a Skyrim fan, you’ll want to read through these:
NEW FEATURES
Skyrim launcher support for Steam Workshop (PC)
BUG FIXES
General optimizations for memory and performance
Fixed occasional issue with armour and clothing not displaying properly when placed on mannequins in player’s house.(PS3)
Improved compiler optimisation settings (PC)

Fixed issue where Galmar would not complete Joining the Stormcloaks properly if “Season Unending” was an active quest
Fixed issue where starting “Season Unending” after finishing “Joining the Stormcloaks” would prevent “The Jagged Crown” from starting properly.

In “Arniel’s Endeavor”, fixed issue where a quest journal would trigger multiple times
In “Forbidden Legend”, the amulet fragment can no longer disappear after player leaves a dungeon without taking it
Fixed rare issue in “Forbidden Legend” where killing Mikrul Gauldurson while sneaking would make his corpse unaccessible

Fixed issue in “Pieces of the Past” where Mehrunes Dagon’s Razor will not trigger properly if player leaves the cell for extended period of time before activating it
“Blood’s Honor” will start properly if you visited and completed Driftshade and an extended period of time passes before starting the quest.
Fixed rare issue where “Dampened Spirits” would not start properly
Fixed issue where player would be unable to become Thane of Riften if they purchased a home first
Fixed issue where killing guards in Cidhna Mine woud block progression for “No One Escapes Cidhna Mine”
Fixed numerous issues with “Blood on the Ice” not triggering properly
In “Blood on the Ice”, Calixto can now be killed if player owns a house in Windhelm

Clearing Knifepoint Ridge before starting “Boethiah’s Champion” no longer prevents quest from starting.
That’s quite a few fixes for one patch – Bethesda hopes to have 1.4 submitted for certification early next week.

Ó

Despite the Wii’s lack of a patching mechanism, Nintendo has come up with a way to solve the game-breaking bug that’s leaving some Zelda players stranded mid-story.
We talked a bit about the Skyward Sword bug last week. If this is the first you’ve heard of it, here’s what’s been going on: completing certain events in the game may cause it to accidentally lock off the rest of the story, forcing you to start the whole thing over. Last week it was revealed that Nintendo is accepting Wii consoles for repair in Japan, but it looks like the games developer has actually come up with a method for patching their title.
In Japan, Nintendo has just added a channel to the Wii home screen titled the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Restoration Channel. The entire goal of this new channel is fixing the bug and making your save playable again, and reports indicate that it’s been working.
Unfortunately, for some users, the special restoration channel only repairs files on the main Wii memory. Players that saved their Skyward Sword data to an SD card will still have to send the card in for restoration, unless Nintendo finds some way to update the patch channel.
There’s still no word on how Nintendo is going to address this issue in the west, but if the restoration channel proves successful, it’s very likely it will be hitting a Wii near you very soon. Not too shabby for a company that up until now had no way to update or patch a game.
Let’s just hope they learn from this mistake and build the Wii U with these types of issues in mind.

The latest game in the Elder Scrolls franchise is a certifiable hit, but not everyone that picked up the game is completely satisfied.
We all knew that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was going to be a big deal, but initial sales numbers have far outstripped expert predictions. In the first two days of the games launch, it landed an impressive 3.5 million copies sold – not counting Steam sales. That lands the game in Battlefield 3 territory, though not quite at MW3 levels.
For reference, the last game in the franchise opened with 490,000 sales. That’s quite a bounce from one game to the next.
The launch hasn’t been without issue though, and Xbox, PS3 and PC owners have all reported a myriad of strange and annoying bugs. The Xbox 360 is having issues reading saved textures, PS3 systems aren’t streaming textures correctly and PC systems are reporting random freezes and crashes.
It wouldn’t be a Bethesda game without a few bugs, and the company is aware of the issues. In fact, they’re more than aware, as evidenced by this hilarious tweet form Pet Hines, Bethesda’s VP of PR:
“Patches/updates take a little time. We can't turn it around quite that fast. It's been three days. Calm down. We're working on it.”
Also this:
“We will fix as much as we can for your platform. I don't know if it will fix "your" bug. Takes a while to test/fix/regress. Hang in there.”
Honestly, people do need to calm down. Bethesda delivered a 300-hour epic; it’s not surprising that it has a few issues. They’re working on it and that’s pretty much all they can do, so if you’re experiencing issues in Skyrim, rest assured that Bethesda is on the ball.
In the meantime, how awesome is that horse?!

Grab your lasso and find the nearest train crossing, because Rockstar’s western epic is now available with enhanced features and extra content.
Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. This special edition of the game comes with the original title, all of the previously released downloadable content and a brand-new “hardcore” difficulty setting.
The original Red Dead Redemption, according to Rockstar, raked in a whopping 160 Game of the Year awards. There’s no doubt that the game was well received, and if you haven’t had a chance to play it there’s no better time like the present. The GOTY edition will run you $49.99, but with all the added content you’re getting a pretty fair discount compared to what early-adopters paid.
In the meantime, it still looks like PC gamers are out of luck when it comes to Red Dead Redemption, as Rockstar has gone on the record as feeling that releasing the title to PC systems isn’t financially viable at the moment. While I’m not sure what that means, since there’s an obvious demand for the title, we’ll still have to wait and see if Rockstar decides to change their minds.
The events of Red Dead Redemption revolve around former gang member John Marston and his attempts to track down his wife and daughter. After participating in a bust gone bad, he’s left wounded and is only saved by the kindness of Bonnie MacFarlane. From there, he slowly builds his health back and tracks down gang members one by one until he can live in peace with his family. Then, zombies show up (DLC), as usual.
Are you planning on picking up this new and improved version of Red Dead Redemption?

It's not supposed to be out this early, but oh well, I guess it's the best time to come out with it. Yes, the official soundtrack for Gears of War 3 is already out on iTunes.
Gears of War 3 launched with much fanfare from Epic Games and Microsoft, and why not? The hype has been steadily building the past months, and today culminates all those days and nights of anticipating.
Prior to the launch this midnight, Epic Games sent out a title update for compliance, which, however, threatened to affect saved date for those who got the game early.
Anyway, the Gears of War 3 soundtrack is available now on the iTunes for US$ 9.99. Get it now so you can enjoy the game while you plow your way through the action of Marcus and friends.

Wii homebrew game developer HunterZ brings us a revival of Crack dot Com's 1995 game, Abuse. The 2D side-scrolling platform title brings us a dark adventure, ironically set against the backdrop of "beautiful lighting, realistic animation" and, not so ironically, "nasty alien-like creatures to destroy."
The Wii port of course had to adopt console-specific adjustments to cater to the Wii's technology. There are a couple of ways to install Abuse Wii on your console: by SD/USB or via Dolphin 3.0.
By Wii:
Abuse Wii can run from either SD or USB. Just copy the abuse folder to /apps/, and the game will detect the game path by determining where boot.dol was launched from. Note that the data/ subfolder must be present for the game to work, and the save/ subfolder must be present if you want to allow settings and saved game files to be created.
After installing on the Wii, the Abuse icon should show up under the Homebrew Channel. Just click it and select Load.
By Dolphin 3.0:
Abuse Wii can also run under Dolphin 3.0, although it doesn't seem to run very well. In order to do this, you must first run the emulator once to create User/Wii/sd.raw. Then, close Dolphin and use a tool like Winimage to inject an /apps/ folder and a copy of the abuse/ folder tree inside of that.
Running
After installing to User/Wii/sd.raw, select Config->Wii->Insert SD Card and Graphics->External Frame Buffer->Real. Then, select Open and browse to a copy of the game's boot.dol file. Finally, select Play to run the game.
For the controls:
Abuse was originally designed for keyboard + mouse on the PC. For the Wii port, these have been replaced with Nunchuk (or Classic Controller Pro held in left hand) + Wiimote.

Gears of War 3's launch is just around the corner, and Epic Games, in anticipation of it, has launched its first ever title update.
It's now available in both North America and Europe, but it does come with a warning. This title update is actually just a compliance update, which basically means those who already have their copies through pre-orders, and who were in the beta testing phase, can now start redeeming their in-game bonuses.
Thing is, it seems that this udpate might result to having your campaign progress deleted if you had already been playing it before you got the update. The saving grace to this news, though, is that it's only going to be the data from the latest checkpoint you passed which could be affected.
When we said Gears of War 3's launch is just around the corner, it literally is just around the corner as it comes out on September 20th, exclusively for the Xbox 360 platform. Microsoft and Epic sure are going all out for its launch on Tuesday, regardless of the news that it's already been street-broken in Norway.

ThatOtherPerson offers his apologies for not being too active as of late, but he reassures us that he's still working on his Wii homebrew game, Cubicle Shooter. What better way to appease his fans than to prove it with a new release for it, bringing it to version 0.2.
Cubicle Shooter is a Wii FPS, designed witha  fully destructible 3D environment right on your Wii. Here's what he's been working on Cubicle Shooter thus far.
Changelog:
You can now shoot and hurt the people. They get pushed back when shot.
When the people get too close to you they push you and hurt you.
Both you and the other people bleed when hurt and the blood paints the ground and walls.
Your health regenerates (up to one hundred) but if it ever drops to zero then the game will reset.
There is a scoring system which rewards you with 25 points every time you shoot one of the people and an additional 100 when you kill one of them (they die after four hits).
You can now save the game and load a previously saved game. Saving and loading is extremely slow on Wii.
There have been changes to the controls.
There have been some bug fixes.
As for the controls:
Wii controls:
Nunchuck analog stick = Move
A button = Stop turning
B button = Shoot
C button = Jump
Z button = Crouch
- button = Load
+ button = Save

What better way to appease Cubicle Shooter fans that development is going along nicely than to prove it with a new release, bringing it to version 0.2.
