Dev studio Firaxis has finally released the delayed update for Civilization V in preparation for the launch of the game's Polynesia DLC later this week. The update, which patches Civilization V up to version 1.0.1.217, brings some improvements to the game's engine and user interface as well as a few important balance and bug fixes.

We're a week into February and Major Nelson has the goods on what's coming to Xbox Live for this week and the next. There are quite a lot of shooters out there, but if the retro sort is what you're feeling right now, better take a look at what the Marketplace has in store for you.

We're still a day away from this week's PlayStation Store update, but that doesn't mean you can't get a heads up on what's coming. For one, Plants vs. Zombies will finally make its way to the PlayStation Store, so will Explodemon, Tales from Space: About a Blob, and a number of other downloadable titles.

Drop rates can be a very annoying game mechanic, especially when they start going down to single-digits. What makes them even more frustrrating is when the enemy you're killing has the item you want displayed prominently while you're fighting yet you don't get the drop even after hundreds of tries.
