Rumor: Outland, Beyond Good and Evil and From Dust Landing in a Bundle?

It appears that Ubisoft is planning a triple-pack box version of these games for release in stores.

The downloadable games market has never been stronger, with plenty of 2011’s best titles being delivered through Xbox Live Arcade, Steam and PSN. However, there’s always an argument for the in-store release of popular games – not everyone has a strong internet connection, and some gamers may be unaware of these exceptional titles.

It looks like Ubisoft feels the same way, as recent rumors indicate the existence of an Ubisoft Triple Pack that includes From Dust, Beyond Good & Evil HD and Outland. The Triple Pack is currently only showing up for European retailers and there’s no word from Ubisoft on whether they’re planning to bring the bundle to American gamers.

The Ubisoft Triple Pack is priced at £14.99 and apparently launches on March 23.

Do you think bundling downloadable titles and pushing them to stores is a good idea? I can definitely see a bonus when it comes to parents shopping for birthday or Christmas gifts – it’s not like a non-gaming family member would know where to find From Dust.

Starhawk Launches May 8

But if you’re a PS Plus subscriber, you can play the beta right now!

Starhawk, the upcoming PS3-exclusive, has an official release date. The game, which is in many ways a successor to Warhawk, will officially be hitting store shelves on May 8, 2012. But that’s not all! If you happen to be one of the many PS Plus subscribers, you can access the game right this very second via a public beta. Assuming, of course, that you’re not trapped at work.

If you’re not a PS Plus subscriber, you still have a couple of opportunities for accessing the game before release. Purchasers of Uncharted 3 will earn access on January 31, while regular PSN accounts can jump in February 21. Finally, GameStop and IGN will be hosting beta code giveaways – GameStop’s is scheduled for February 7, while IGN’s is set for February 14 (Valentine’s!).

Here’s what you can expect to see in the beta, straight from the PlayStation blog:

Classic Arcade Flight-Mode: Private Beta players asked for it and we’re happy to include the classic arcade flight from Warhawk.

Host Migration: When the host leaves the game, the hosting duties transfer to another player and gameplay will continue, provided the option is checked.

Language Support: European and Japanese languages are included. Korea, China, Latin America and Brazil will be in English…but these will include the appropriate languages for the full game.

Skills: Players will be able to collect unique Skills to use in gameplay based on their performance. Playstation Network Friend Integration: Friends status, messages, and friend requests.

Bug Fixes: Lots and lots of bugs have been addressed.

PC specs for NFS: The Run outed

PC players waiitng on the hardware requirements for Need for Speed: The Run need not wait any longer. Electronic Arts has just revealed the details you've been waiting for right here.

From what they've confirmed, the Frostbite 2-powered racing title for the PC will require some serious HDD qualifications. Oh, that on top of the whopping 18GB worth of disk space.

Resistance 3 beta updates: Matchmaking, patch 2.01

Insomniac games has sent out an update regarding the Resistance 3 beta, this time pertaining to the Matchmaking feature and Patch 2.01.

The note on their official website started out with the acknowledgment of the issues that R3's beta encountered last week. It then went on to reassure that they are continuing to swiftly act on the matter so that they will create "a world-class multiplayer experience", which is their top priority at Insomniac Games. The team is even going beyond office hours, bringing the work at home just so they can play the beta each night and continue to check for issues.

Now, as to the European Early Access, Inosmniac notes that it will be opened to the public by tomorrow, Wednesday, which will first be accessed by PlayStation Plus subscribers. "We've updated the package file on the PSN store to have the latest beta contents, meaning EU and future testers won't need to download the mega-patch that our US testers did. This also means that everyone needs a small patch to ensure compatibility. You'll see this patch required tonight or tomorrow, and it will be update 2.00."

Speaking of updates, Update 2.01 was also sent out by the team, and this should carry a fix for the matchmaking issues that presented itself in the recent day. If all goes according to schedule, then UK will be getting their hands on it by tomorrow night. "This should address the issues and allow you to use the matchmaking to find games again, while also addressing a few crashes."

There's a whole lot more that they discussed, such as the issue of stats coming down, and other bugs that thye're currently working on to fix. For the full dibs, check out the link below.

It should be no wonder that they're acting quickly on fixing as much bugs as they could for the multiplayer beta, considering that Resistance 3 has already gone gold. In fact, it will be bundled together with Sony's PlayStation 3D Display when it gets out.

Resistance 3 comes out exclusively for the PS3 on September 6th.
