We've already had Halo action figures announced today, but now we have (in my eyes) a step up on the wish list; new, sexy and well-made stuff for you to blow your wad on.

IGN recently conducted a poll in which it asked its readers a variety of questions about shooters in general and what they thought was the best shooter of 2011. Not surprisingly, the two games that came out at the top of the poll were Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The fall/winter barrage of games continues at full speed. What game are you picking up next week?
Well, Modern Warfare 3 is out, Skyrim launches tomorrow and plenty of people have picked up Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3. But before you get too comfortable, it’s time to take note of even more games heading your way in this ridiculous 2011 holiday season. Next week we’ll visit a few old friends, including a sneaky assassin and plucky plumber. Also, you’ll get to hit people with a dildo.
Without further ado, here’s what’s on shelves this week:

ESRB Mature
THQ

Did I see a PS2 game in there? I guess people still have those, but I didn’t think game developers were spending any time on the platform.
So what’s your poison this week? I’m not buying anything, since I’ll be buried in Skyrim. But, if I had to choose, I think I’d go with Assassin’s Creed.

Despite a hugely successful launch, the game can’t top Black Ops or Modern Warfare 2 for weekly online play. At least, not this week.
Battlefield 3 sold over five million copies in its first week of launch. That’s a pretty successful release from the perspective of EA and DICE, but certainly not anything for Activision to lose sleep over. Now we have a bit more evidence that BF3 may not be quite the CoD killer EA hoped, in the form of the last week’s Xbox Live stats.
Battlefield 3 landed squarely in third place, behind 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops and 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. While it’s a bit unfair to compare the numbers for the release week, considering that Battlefield 3 launched on Tuesday and counting starts on Monday, it’s still stark reminder that as far as the imagined battle of the titan goes, Call of Duty is still the king of the roost.
Heres’ the top ten:
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield 3
Gears of War 3
FIFA 12
Halo: Reach
Batman: Arkham City
Madden NFL 12
Forza Motorsport 4
GTA IV
Naturally, these numbers are about to take a big hit with Modern Warfare 3 launching on the 8th, so it’s unclear what exactly will happen. My guess is that we’ll see MW3 take the top slot and BF3 take number two, with the other two titles falling considerably as more players pick up either of the new releases.
As for who is going to win the war between juggernauts? Who cares? Just get the game you like and play it. After all, this “competition” is really nothing more than a sharp marketing effort to send droves of people to either of the games – Activision and EA are very much in this together.
So, which of the top ten titles did you spend your time on this week?

The cinematic game franchise may be landing itself a big-budget movie adaptation, complete with 3D visuals.
Game to movie rumors are a dime a dozen, and for every one that comes to fruition it seems like there are ten that never go anywhere. Of course, this particular rumor is different, since we know for a fact that Assassin’s Creed developer Ubisoft is aggressively courting movie studios for a film adaptation of the game.
According to Variety, the film industry’s trade mag, Sony Pictures is on the cusp of closing a deal that will land them the AC franchise. Ubisoft is negotiating to retain creative control, which I think is a good move on their part considering how some of the more recent game adaptations have turned out. The AC franchise has an excellent story; it would be a shame to see a film studio destroy it and keeping it as an Ubisoft release my help prevent that from happening.
What’s also interesting is that Ubisoft is essentially demanding the film be produced in 3D. Ubisoft is approaching the film deal as a marketing opportunity and sees movies based on their games as a strong method for introducing franchises to people that may not have experienced them. Essentially, they’re hoping to capitalize on the potential surge of interest a film can generate in one of their games.
In addition to the AC franchise, Ubisoft is also shopping Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon – they’ve already made Prince of Persia (to very poor results). It’s obvious that Ubisoft considers game-based films to be a core part of their business model moving forward and they’ve started a studio, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, to handle the day-to-day.
Do you like the idea of an Assassin’s Creed film, or are you worried it will turn into a snooze fest like the last Ubisoft film (Jake Gyllenhaal, really)?

343 Industries feel they've got some explaining to do because of their decision to integrate the Halo: Reach engine to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary's multiplayer mode, despite the game keeping the same gameplay engine from Combat Evolved.
Frank O' Connor was put to task, starting out their explanation with the fact that "the most significant change was the multiplayer component."
He further expounded on this in their recent interview with Gamespot at Comic Con in San Diego.
"We had to do this in a fairly compressed time schedule. And we looked at the original Halo multiplayer engine, it wasn't built to do anything except system link and making the engine work across Xbox Live. It would have been possible but it would have been a massive undertaking."
He continued, "We also looked at the Reach player based and realized we didn't want to further fracture the existing player base so we decided to make the multiplayer in the Reach engine. Everything launches on one disk. Yo don't have to own Reach to play these seven new multiplayer maps."
Not only is the multiplayer mode confirmed to be getting the biggest change, but that the game will also be supported by Microsoft's Kinect. They've also sent out details on the pre-order incentives for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, so if you're having second thoughts about getting it, maybe the pre-order goods can push you in the right direction.
