mas3Mass Effect 3 undoubtedly has been in the center of criticism since its launch. From the game's ending to the various bugs encountered, Bioware is doing the best it can to keep us gamers happy. Unfortunately, they haven't patched the "Black Hole" glitch, which has prevented several gamers from playing the game. Not to worry though, the community is looking out for one another.

main_ps3_image_345wThe PS3 scene has a plethora of tools available to get your console running custom firmware or dongles, if that is your thing. Unfortunately, there's always a bad bunch of people who just aim to release tools with the intent of bricking consoles. HwapX and Overx fall into this category with the recent release of their Venix GUI downgrader app.

If you’re playing Arkham City on the Xbox 360 console, you may be at risk of losing your data.
Batman: Arkham City is one of the most well received games of the year and millions of gamers have spent considerable time tracking down Riddler trophies and beating up thugs, but those gamers that chose to play the game on Xbox may find that their hours of work have been instantly destroyed by a strange bug. Whew, long sentence. Short version: your Arkham City saves are at risk.
For some reason unbeknownst to Rocksteady, the game’s developer, certain Xbox 360 users are loading Arkham City (the hardest game name to type) only to discover that their save data is completely inaccessible.
Stories started rolling in a few weeks ago of players unable to access save data, and it looks like the problem has become more than a few isolated incidents. Here’s a basic rundown of what’s happening: while the save file seems intact on the console hard drive, the game can’t read or write to it. This effectively makes it useless. Users have reported the problem coming up at random times, with some players far into the games and others just beginning.
The bad news is that Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have no idea what’s causing the problem, but the good news is that they’re working on it. You can help them suss it out by emailing support@wbgames.com with the following information, assuming you’ve experienced the problem yourself:
Which XBOX 360 are you using?
How are you storing the save file?
Which version of the 360 software do you have?
Are you running a Beta of the new dashboard?
Did the issue come up before/after installing DLC? Which DLC?
Did the issue come up before/after the two patches pushed to the game?
I’m sure they’ll get it figured out, but we’ll have to wait and see if those saves are just gone forever or recoverable. In the meantime, it may be safer to play on PS3.
What do you think of this whole mess? Are the players that lost their files entitled to some sort of compensation? Free DLC would be nice!

Because if there’s one thing the industry needs right now, it’s another high-profile FPS game.
Rumors of a new Rainbow 6 game have been swirling around for months, but there wasn’t too much concrete evidence to grab onto. It was generally understood that a sequel would have to come eventually, but no one really knew when.
The last game in the series, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, was released in 2008 and things have been pretty quiet on Ubisoft’s end ever sense. Until today, of course, when Ubisoft officially confirmed that a new game, Rainbow Six: Patriots, is headed your way in 2013.
The game revolves around the Rainbow team’s efforts to stop a group of terrorists called the True Patriots, who in typical Tom Clancy style have determined that the government is corrupt and no longer serves the best interests of the people. You’ll play as different characters throughout the campaign and the game will feature a robust co-op mode.
David Sears, creative director for the game, had this to say in an interview with OXM (hits shelves later this month):
"Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction. This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience."
There aren’t many details besides what’s been revealed in the brief interview snippet, so you’ll have to wait until the issue hits shelves November 30th if you want the full scoop. For now, just know that a new Rainbow Six is coming, and you can expect it in 2013.
Are you a Rainbow Six fan? Or are you suffering from shooter overload?

The caped crusader’s latest adventure landed to great reviews and high praise, but a problem with DLC has a few gamers angry and demanding action.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Batman: Arkham City one of the most beloved titles of the year. The game’s scores are excellent across the board, with many gaming outlets stopping just shy of calling it the best game ever made. But a polished story, great voice acting and pitch-perfect controls may not save the game from the scandal that’s currently brewing for some players, which revolves around the Robin and Catwoman downloadable packs.
Here’s the basics on the two content packages: The Robin content was offered to players that pre-ordered Arkham City at Best Buy, but can also be downloaded from PSN or Live. The Catwoman content is only available to people that purchase the game new, because it comes packed with a one-time use code. Basically, the DLC packs are Rocksteady’s method for ensuring gamers purchase their title brand new instead of used. This “new-only” ruse is becoming increasingly common for developers looking to encourage new purchases.
There are a couple of things going wrong here. First, some players are experiencing issues with the Robin DLC, receiving errors that the file is corrupt sometimes hours into the game. Rocksteady has apparently resolved this problem, and their Twitter account states:
“Robin DLC problems have been fixed: retry your code in 2 hours. Thankyou for your patience!” So if you were having problems, give it a go (Tweet is pretty old by now).
The Catwoman problem is completely different – apparently, some copies of the game shipped without the necessary code for accessing the Catwoman DLC. Rocksteady is still working on this one, here’s their update from Twitter:
“We are aware that some people did not receive the Catwoman code in their game. You will get to play as the sexy thief, stay tuned for update.”
There’s nothing new to report so far, as Rocksteady has mostly been tweeting about a fan meetup and giving away cool stuff to Twitter followers.
Did your Arkham City DLC work, or are you one of the few that are stuck waiting for some sort of fix? All these innovations are certainly great, but I can’t help feeling like we may have been better off in the Nintendo 64 days.

It allowed players to choose how they progress through the game's story with a variety of gameplay mechanics, ultimately shaping the overall outcome of the adventure. Dues Ex: Human Revolution, developed by Eidos-Montreal and published by Square-Enix, takes place 25 years before the events of the first title, but can the team at Eidos re-create the original's magic without its creator?
