Posted Oct 31, 2011 at 3:09PM EST by Listed in: Xbox 360 Tags: bad company 2, battlefield 3, battlefield 3 multiplayer issues, DICE
Ó

Let’s talk about some of the issues with Battlefield 3’s multiplayer, and why it sometimes feel like DICE may have released the game a pinch too soon.
I’m not a huge Battlefield fan. When I say that, what I mean is that I didn’t play the older games and don’t have any extreme allegiance to the brand. I do prefer Battlefield to Call of Duty due to the more realistic sniping mechanics and a greater focus on team play, but I’m not the sort of person that runs around preaching about which game is superior. I like Battlefield games, but I wouldn’t call them my favorites.
I picked up Battlefield 3 on launch day and have since been playing multiplayer whenever I have some down time. I should probably note that I have the Xbox 360 version, so some of the things I’m talking about may or may not be applicable to your personal experiences with the game. I’ve never put the campaign disc in the tray and I doubt I ever will, so I can’t really say much about the single player.
For the most part, multiplayer feels like a well-oiled machine. Most maps seem well planned and I’m getting a fair amount of fun from earning unlocks and capturing points. Though I’m focusing on complaints in this post, I do want to mention that I’ve had a good experience with the game overall.
Except for the following:
Origin/EA/Battlelog/Online Pass
I understand that creating loyalty is one of the key elements of managing a player base, but I play on a console. Having to create an EA account link it to an Origin, and then register an Online Pass via a website getting slammed by new players was a frustrating and unnecessary experience. I pay for Xbox Live – let me put my game in and play. I must say that I do really like Battelog, but the upfront inconvenience in getting started was pretty lame (and seems to be worse for PC players).
Scope Glare
Look, I play Recon. In fact, I play almost exclusively Recon. But, I play Recon – not “Camping sniper.” I spot targets, paint vehicles with the SOFLAM, capture points when I can and drop Radio Beacons. Anyway, in BF3 certain riflescopes have been given a glare effect to help limit the potential for camping. While I understand the mechanic, the glare is ridiculously bright, even in low-light situations. When I’m charging through a pitch black tunnel and I see something that looks like the north star shining out of the darkness, it shouldn’t turn out to be a scope. Needs to be toned down a bit.
Operation Metro CQ
If anyone out there has played Operation Metro in Conquest mode, you’ve probably noticed that the map is insanely unbalanced. Due to the map’s linear design and lack of flank routes, it’s much easier for the Russian team to capture point B and hold it. I would say that the majority of games I join for CQ end with Russia winning and the US losing – getting up and into point B can be quite a difficult feat. It’s also, for some reason, the only map that requires you to pass through one point to cap another – you can’t simply run around B to cap point A and put some pressure on, you have to go through point B first. Needs a little love for the US.
Jets
Jets are cool, I get it. But when I’m in a level with jets, it often seems like they’re playing a completely different game. I’m sure this is a failing of my teammates somewhere along the line, but all I ever see jets do is chase each other around and ignore everything that’s happening on the ground. Somewhere, someone has to have made a tutorial on how jets can apply to the ground game, so please watch it before you jump in the cockpit.
Technical issues
While the release version of Battlefield 3 is nowhere near as buggy as the beta, there are still a significant number of minor glitches and bugs. Texture pop, screen tear and a variety of weird clipping issues have shown up in my matches, with one in particular getting me killed (a two-inch step that has to be jumped over, since the character apparently can’t step). Also, the game often “forgets” which pistol I have equipped. Oh, and let’s not overlook the server issues – I always get a failed connection the first time I try and join.
So that’s a brief rundown of the common Battlefield issues I’m noticing. The list certainly isn’t comprehensive, but it’s made up of what has stood out to me as a player. Like I said before, they’re having a relatively minor impact on my play, but it’s still quite a few issues for a game that was supposed to be one of the best FPS experiences of all time.
If you’re playing Battlefield 3, what problems have you noticed that didn’t make the list?

For the first time since it was announced, we will now be getting to see a glimpse of what awaits us in the final three years of Harry Potter and the gang's Lego-fied adventure, thanks to this very first trailer for the LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-
Of course we all know how the story went. A lot of important characters died in the book, and shown in the movie as well, of course, such as Dumbledore and Snape. Heck, even Harry died. But he did go back to life and in the end defeeated Voldemort.
Oh, you didn't finish all the way to the end of the series? Come on, even the movie is finished already, and that's after the book came out some couple of years back! I suggest you go finish it before this game version comes out.
Not that it's going to matter in how you play the game, but am guessing it's just going to be more fun seeing the words from the book, and the scenes from the movie, transformed into these adorable building blocks.
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 comes out for all platforms conceivable (really!). As in, for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PS Vita, PSP, NDS and 3DS later this holiday season.

A new Kinecxt title is looking to bring to life on video game the infamous mercenary company, Blackwater.
Under the tutelage of Zombie Studios, the mercenary game was crafted in partnership with no less than Blackwater founder, Erik Prince.
Curiously enoug, though, when you talk of a mercenary game, one would think that it's going to be full of blood and gore. Not quite the scenario here in Blackwater, though. Zombie Studios said that they have in fact turned those elements down, instead going for sub-human enemies for  players to hunt and shoot down.
Blackwater is expected to come out for Kinect by next month, October. In the meantime, do check out this video of the game in action below.

We just might be seeing CyberConnect 2's upcoming title head over to the Wii U, this according to Capcom over at their official community page.
Said company representatives on their latest "Ask Capcom" episode, they could very well do exactly just that, if the fans ask for it. All they would require of their loyal followers is to make as much noise for it, and if there's enough demand for it, then they just might adhere to your requests.
So far, Asura's Wrath is confirmed only for the PS3 and Xbox 360, set to come out sometime next year. It was first unveiled and announced at last year's TGS.

This cinematic trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken packs a whopping punch. It's just one of the many soon to be epic showdowns in this PS3-Xbox 360 title, that's for sure.
This trailer fetures King and Murdock going up against Hugo and Poison. It runs for just a little under two and a half minutes, but that's all you'll need at this point to get you geared up for this fight.
Street Fighter X Tekken is so far expected to come out on Q1 of 2012. Making a special appearance, too, is none other than Cole McGrath of inFamous.

Ever since Street Fighter X Tekken was announced at last year's Comic Con, lost of speculations surrounded it, especially insofar as the character line-up is concerned. Probably sticking out like a sore thumb is Cole MacGrath of the famous inFamous franchise. He's no Street Fighter, nor is he from Tekken. So how did he land the gig?
Capcom's Strategic Marketing Director of Online & Community, Seth Killian, explained how it happened.
"Discussions between Sony and Capcom came to it. They were looking for a character and Capcom got excited about Cole. It seemed like the timing was right with inFamous 2 coming out around this time and it seemed a character that had lots of possibilities, in terms of gameplay.
Obviously, there is a big range of moves and I think we fell in love with the electric tornado like everyone else should have. There was his shockwave in inFamous 2 and we liked that as well."
Cole is confirmed to make his appearance on both the PS3 and PS Vita versions, which was only recently confirmed to have connectivity. As to whether or not he will be joining the Xbox 360 cast as well: "We don't have any information on what's happening on Xbox yet."
The full cast line-up of Street Fighter X Tekken still isn't absolutely complete yet, and as recent as back in May, Capcom and Namco Bandai confessed that they haven't even started developing the game yet. For sure now, though, they've already started working on it already.

The friendly neighborhood zombies and monsters are back, and Capcom's even thrown in some comparison footage with Biohazard 4.
Resident Evil Revival Selection was announced back in March, and features a remake of both RE 4 and Code: Veronica. Both titles have been HD-fied for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and up until Capcom sent out this debut trailer, nothing much has been said about it.
It's confirmed for a Japan release, albeit still with a TBA window. We're still waiting for word if they'll be bringing this over to other regions, but in the meantime, Resident Evil fans in the West can look forward to Resident Evil: Revelations, or Resident Evil Racoon City.
