BT Games accidentally a game announcement.
Hey, remember the God of War series? You know, the one that’s made a bazillion dollars but hasn’t been heard from in a while? Well, it turns out that there’s a new God of War coming your way, though you wouldn’t know it by talking to Sony.
Despite the company’s best efforts to keep the title under wraps, everyone pretty much knows that God of War 4 is happening. First, we had an accidental slip of the resume from the composer that worked on the game; now we have BT Games, a South African games store, taking pre-orders for the game despite the fact that it hasn’t been confirmed to exist.
Oops! Apparently, this isn’t the first time BT Games has dropped the bomb on an unannounced games. Anyway, it’s not like the existence of God of War 4 is some sort of huge mystery—anyone that knows the industry would guess that the thing is coming out sooner or later. Still, it’s a pretty big slip-up on the part of the retailer, especially after the Black Ops 2 debacle that unfolded last week.
What do you think about a new God of War?

It’s no secret that God of War IV is coming eventually, but now there’s a bit more credence to the rumors thanks to an errant resume credit.
Timothy Williams, composer for films and video games alike, has revealed an interesting title on his resume. It seems that he’s been working on God of War IV, the long awaited but as of yet unannounced title for Sony’s PlayStation 3 console. In theory, you could qualify this as a leak, but since the game is practically inevitable, it’s not exactly earth-shattering news. Sony is probably pretty miffed, though.
The company has of course refused to comment, stating that they do not respond to rumors regarding their upcoming products. Williams confirmed to Joystiq that the listing was accurate, and clarified that he was not working as the primary composer (that honor goes to Tyler Bates). God of War IV has been hinted at by previous job listings by Sony, but hilariously the whole thing is still unconfirmed.
For now, you’ll just have to accept that yes, there is a God of War IV and yes, it’s coming out eventually. Sony will certainly make an announcement soon – they’re running out of time in the current console cycle.
Are you ready for another GoW?

Witcher 2 wants to settle with pirates
So I got the game, didn't pay for the game and now you want me to pay 900 pounds?
I wrote earlier this month about how the guys over at CD Projekt were unhappy but a bit understanding about this whole pirate business.
Lawyers acting on behalf of Polish developer CD Projekt Red are demanding cash settlements from alleged pirates of The Witcher 2.
The story initially broke last week, when TorrentFreak published a report claiming that "thousands" of German BitTorrent users were asked to pay €911.80 or face further legal action.
The article also suggests that, by ignoring the factors like "Wi-fi piggybacking" or multiple parties using a single IP address, CD Projekt's lawyers are, "wrongfully accusing people who have never even heard of the game."
Yesterday, CD Projekt issued a statement to the press explaining that its decision not to include DRM in its products should not be confused for, "giving a green light to piracy."
"We will never approve of [piracy], since it doesn't only affect us but has a negative impact on the whole game industry."
"We've seen some of the concern online about our efforts to thwart piracy, and we can assure you that we only take legal actions against users who we are 100 per cent sure have downloaded our game illegally."
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski estimated that 4.5 million copies of The Witcher 2 had been illegally downloaded since the game launched earlier this year.

The social games giant previews the sequel to the massively popular Facebook title with a new trailer and a breakdown of what players can expect in the future.
If you have a Facebook account, you’re probably familiar with “Mafia Wars.” For the brief period of time that I used Facebook, “Mafia Wars” was responsible for about 50% of the messages I received, and I doubt this was a unique experience. The game was a huge success, with millions of players working to run their own successful mob families, composed primarily of casual friends and high school acquaintances.
Looking to cash in on the success of the first game, Zynga has long been at work on a follow-up. We’ve known about “Mafia Wars 2” for a while, but information was relatively scarce. Beyond a game trailer released early last month and a few pieces of concept art, there wasn’t much available in the way of details. Luckily, Zynga has finally revealed a few more details about the game, and it seems like a big departure from the point-and-click roots of the original.
Here’s what we know now:
The game takes place in a fictionalized version of Las Vegas
“Mafia Wars 2” has a fully-realized 3D environment
Gameplay revolves around building casinos and other institutions
You can set fire to and damage other players’ buildings
There are missions, storylines and bosses for solo players
Players have access to various bits of weapons and armor
So far, the sequel to “Mafia Wars” sounds only vaguely like “Mafia Wars,” keeping intact the cutthroat spirit but getting rid of a lot of the menu management. Zynga hasn’t offered a release date, so we’ll just have to wait and see what features are announced next.
Are you going to play the new “Mafia Wars” game? Are you still playing the old one?

After much ado about something, Square Enix finally makes it official. Dragon Quest X is indeed coming to the Wii, this after its announcement way back in 2007.
Apart from the Wii, however, the latest console of Nintendo, the Wii U, is also reported to be getting a piece of the Dragon Quest X pie. The confirmation was made at the publisher's press conference held in Tokyo early this morning, also revealing that the game will feature online components.
Although Level-5 is no longer working on the development of the latest installment for the famed videogame series, Square Enix is said to be taking care of it internally in the meantime.
So waht's going to be in store for you in Dragon Quest X? Well, according to game producer Yosuke Saito, DQ X will be set in the world of Astortia, composed of five continents and five races. That's all they're ready to divulge at this point, however, so we're just going to have to wait for other details to trickle in regarding the story.
As for the gameplay features, the following are confirmed: a job system, in-game events reflecting the current season (ie. Halloween, New Year's), and character creation.
No date has been set as of yet, but for now, it's definitely confirmed for a Japan outing sometime next year. You can also check out some footage that's been packaged in discreetly within Dragon Quest Collection, which comes out next week, September 15th, again in Japan.

Grasshopper Manufacture is coming out with a soundtrack for Shadows of the Damned, this despite the game not actually selling all too well on shelves.
It seems that the publishers are still hoping to hit gold with this new venture, banking on the reputation of the game's musical composer, Akira Yamaoka. The price, however, leaves a lot to be desired, with the price being tagged at a pretty hefty US$ 30.
From the looks of it, though, there is quite the interest in the soundtrack as the limited first 100 copies, donning the autograph of Yamaoka himself, have already been sold out.
Said Yamaoka, "I wanted to craft a soundtrack that was more than just a collection of the most popular songs from Damned. I set out to create an experience that would take players back to the game, as if they were 'watching' a movie."
If you want one for yourself, then you better hurry, because Grasshopper is only coming out with a very limited 1,000 copies. Yamaoka is also famed for his work on the Silent Hill series.
Shadows of the Damned launched just last June, so there should still be time for them to spark up interest for it. Suda 51 was also quoted as saying that their version of hell in Damned is definitely more fun than the one depicted in Dante's Inferno.

Dontnod is a new Paris-based independent studio, composed of former Criterion and Ubisoft employees. They've banded together, and is reportedly coming out with a PS3-exclusive, AAa sci-fi action RPG title, currently known only as 'Adrift'.
Their attendance is now being reported for this year's E3, of course racking up the speculation that Adrift will be making its big reveal in L.A. Adrift has been said to be in development for the past three years, and maybe, just maybe, it's ready to make its big debut in a mere couple of weeks.
The game is also said to be powered by Unreal Engine 3, and has in fact already been shown behind closed doors at the GDC.
