Sony is ready for the influx of new Vita users, but may have made a costly mistake.
As of this morning, the PlayStation Store was flush with content for the newly released PS Vita. Sony dropped a metric crap-ton of new content onto the store, most of which is engineered to interact with or be played on the Vita. You’ll find new games, new apps and a few demos—plenty of content to keep you busy for your first few hours with the device.
There are three “augmented-reality” games currently available; Cliff Diving, Fireworks and Table Soccer all use the Vita’s cameras to detect player movement, which then influences gameplay. New games include Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack and Touch My Katamari. There’s also a new Twitter app, full Flickr support and Netflix, all for the PS Vita.
One curious tidbit has been raised by attentive gamers, though: some of the PS Vita demos are labeled as “PS Vita Game” instead of as demos, and are the full size of the actual game. There is speculation that Sony may have pulled another “Undead Knights” and accidentally released full games as demos, which would mean that you can currently pick up Rayman Origins, Dungeon Hunter, Hustle Kings, Little Deviants and others free of charge.
If you picked up a Vita at launch, now would be the time to check out those demos to see if Sony screwed up. Let us know how it goes in the comments.

ipad Apple can't even meet the demand for the iPad 2 here in the U.S., but they're still forging ahead with the international launch. Will this be a mistake?

From Korean BBQ to kick-ass ads in Times Square, THQ has been very creative thus far when it comes to marketing Homefront -- and then they went to the Bay area.

From Korean BBQ to kick-ass ads in Times Square, THQ has been very creative thus far when it comes to marketing Homefront. Unfortunately, it's not about to come out smoothly all the time.
Take for example this publicity stunt that they were supposed to do for the game. Earlier this week, 10,000 red balloons were released by THQ over the skies of San Francisco. As the laws of physics dictate, however, whatever comes up must come down. Even air-filled balloons. So when the 10,000 balloons lost air and dropped in the Bay itself, the environmentalists weren't all too happy about it, of course.
The stunt was orchestrated while the GDC event was going on in the area, giving it a guaranteed audience. They got more than the gaming audience they were aiming for though. As soon as the moody SanFo weather bogged down the balloons to the waters, littering the Bay, pictures of it surfaced on the Internet, accompanied by residents' angry rants.
Initially, the balloons were thought to be GameStop's, considering that they had their store name plastered all over the balloons. But the retail store had already denied this, saying in defense that they have no knowledge about the balloons.
The publisher of Homefront, THQ, had already released a statement addressing the issue. Said Julia MacMedan, VP of Corporate Communications:
"The balloons that were released are completely biodegradable. They start the process of biodegrading as soon as they're blown up with helium. There should not be any environmental concerns."
Still, it made quite the bloody mess on the San Francisco Bay, requiring THQ to send out their cleanup crew to get them out of the waters.

In an ideal world, there would be no wars. There would be no poverty, famine, ecological disasters that take lives of millions of people. There would also be no crime, and there would be no bugs in games. Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world, and so we have all of these and more. Yes, even the bugs in the games.
Treyarch's community manager Josh Olin recently spoke with Videogamer armed with this matter of fact. "It is unfortunate that those [bugs] have to exist at all," he said.
In an ideal world, we would love to ship a completely bug-proof game. I can't think of a single developer in the world, though, that could achieve that."
Treyarch, of course, is the developer of the highly-acclaimed CoD: Black Ops. However, even an AAA title like Black Ops is  not immune from those pesky bugs. The PS3 version, for one, has been so rife with them, that offers for a trade-in have even surfaced for the game.
Olin, for his part, has been very busy attempting to appease the fans at the forums, explaining their patch process, so that the fans may be enlightened why despite the numerous patches they've sent out thus far, players are still experiencing problems with the game.
Simply put, all Olin wanted to say in the interview was that Treyarch has got their hands full trying to please everybody. To put that thought into perspective, "just a single hour of gampeplay" from online gamers are so massive that it's way much more than the dev team "could put into quality assurance in a lifetime."
Add to that the issue of gamers getting very creative with the bugs, doing things they "could never predict or think of" and you've got a dev team being way over their heads.
So really, as you can see, the job of the devs don't stop upon the release of the game. In fact, they're just getting started. Some of you might think that it's too much for you to cut them some slack. After all, for your part, you're the consumer buying their product, and you shouldn't expect anything less from your purchase.
Had we lived in an ideal world, we wouldn't even have a concept of game bugs. But as we don't, they're here to bug us all for all eternity, I guess.
