Zynga is known for copy/pasting its games, but this time the original developer isn’t sitting idly by.

Zynga has quickly become a powerful force in the world of social and mobile gaming, though recent rumors indicate the company could be on shaky financial footing. Zynga is known for its massively popular casual games, but many gamers may not know that the company is also notorious for stealing those games from established indie developers.

Zynga has faced lawsuits for both FarmVille and Mafia Wars, which are Zynga’d-up clones of MyFarm and Mob Wars, respectively. And the company continues its copy/paste development strategy without shame, this time cloning the official 2011 iPhone Game of the Year, TinyTower.

NimbleBit called Zynga out with a passive-aggressive infographic, one that wishes the company luck but showcases the many ways in which their concept was ripped off. Check it out:

What do you think of Zynga’s cloning strategy? It works in terms of sales, but it isn’t earning them any support in the gaming community.

The Old Republic has two million testers

I'm sure only half of those are cloned stormtroopers.

Over the past fortnight, the new MMORPG, Star Wars The Old Republic has been going through beta tests and what a hell of a tests they were. With more than 2 million people playing on and off, there were a 250 000 users playing just over the Thanksgiving weekend and over half a million concurrently playing the week after that.

While these numbers are grand, amazing and fantastic if you were looking to be a purchaser of BioWare stock in the next 9 days, there is not guarantee of success for the guys at EA and Bioware. They were encouraged regardless to give the game some spin before the big release.

Eric Brown, EA's chief financial officer said that the game has an obviously large pre-existing fan base and that are around "2.4 million people registered" to the Star Wars fan site alone, so when figures start popping up that over 70% of that is playing your game...that might be a fantastic sign. Especially when the half a million users were playing at 12 hours a piece when logging on...

This MMO is going to be huge. EA said earlier this year that for The Old Republic to be profitable under a pay scale, they would need as few as half a million subscribers in their first year. Whils there has been little advertising and the game was closed beta...I would probably say that 2012 may have Old Republic slaughters WoW all over it.

The game finally comes out in your quandrant on December 20th and whilst not a fan of MMORPG's this game has got me incredibly excited.

Big Updates for Clone Wars Adventures

Sony Online Entertainment packs the small MMO with a bunch of new features including costumes, starting zones and mini-games. But is anyone playing?

Clone Wars Adventures is a strange game. It was released as part of the major media blitz for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and runs along the same freemium concepts as many of the small, popular MMOs you find around the web. With all the focus on Bioware’s The Old Republic, it’s easy to see why a small, browser-based MMO would go largely unnoticed except by its fanbase.

SOE seems to be trying to encourage players to stick around, and as of this last week has pushed a pretty big content pack directly to live servers. There’s a brand new min-game, new costumes for characters, new pets to collect and an all-new starting zone for new players.

Here’s what the game’s official site has to say about the starting zone:

“New Players will now start in the Ryloth Battle zone - an outdoor environment. There is a full scale battle taking place here with Republic troops and turrets versus Battle Droids. New players can run around and get up close with the participants in an ongoing battle. There's also a shuttle to port players to the Jedi Temple.”

If you’ve never played (or heard of) Clone Wars Adventures, now might be a good time to check it out. The game is free to play, for the most part, and with NYCC going on it’s going to be a fairly slow weekend for anyone that’s not attending the con.

Besides, everyone loves collecting pets, right?
