Mortal Kombat Confirmed for Vita

The only thing better than performing bloody fatalities is performing them on the go.

Fans of fights to the death rejoice, for Mortal Kombat is coming to your PS Vitas. The game, developed by NetherRealm specifically for the Vita, doesn’t have an official street date quite yet, but all indications point to a spring release – Fatality!

Details are scarce on the upcoming fighter; what we know is that the Vita version of Mortal Kombat was built around portable gaming and features a few new game mechanics to take advantage of the Vita’s unique control scheme. Look for details over the next couple of months, as all we have to go on at the moment is the official announcement from NetherRealm.

Mortal Kombat is just the latest in a fairly long stream of fighters for the Vita – Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter x Tekken and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend are all expected in the first few months of the system’s western release.

Will you be compelled to buy a Vita now that Mortal Kombat is heading to the system?

Additional Vita Launch Games Surface

A leaked GameStop document hints that North America’s Vita launch may be accompanied by more games than previously thought.

We talked a couple of weeks ago about Vita’s confirmed launch titles, but it looks like a few games managed to slip through the radar. A leaked internal document from games retailer GameStop indicates that there are more titles hitting shelves than we were led to believe, chief among them Gravity Rush and Lumines.

Destructoid acquired an update launch list thanks to one of their clever readers, who likely scored the document from a friend or works at GameStop himself. Take a look at the list and see what you like:

Looks like when you strap a jetpack to a chicken amazing things can happen.

Our good friends at RatLoop games recently attended the video game trade show, Asia Game Show in beautiful Singapore. The

word from the lovely Sandra Pondaag was that the game really shone at the Sony booth.

I received an email from her and the guys at Ratloop about their success and time at the trade show saying "Asia Game Show

was terrific!" They were lucky enough to have their own booth next Uncharted and Gran Turismo. "Also, it was crazy because of

the PSVITA launch."

The launch was the main meal for Sony fans at the trade show and unfortunately they were sold out but thanks to the guys at

Sony, the Ratloop team "managed to get one". Sian Yue, the Ratloop producer, has been playing Uncharted and Sandra herself hs

been kicking some serious ass in Marvel vs Capcom. Sandra, herself says she's "blown away by the graphics."

Sony really went all out to promote the Hardboiuled game with creating some Rocketbirds door hangers as giveaways to visitors

so that was just a wonderful way to promote our game. Sandra did say that compared to last year, there were "less new games"

but that may have been due to the focus on the new console and the PSVITA launch.

Want to know what games are hitting shelves with the Vita when it drops here in the U.S.? Check out our list!

Today has been an interesting day for Vita news. First, we got an idea of how expensive the device’s memory cards were actually going to be (read: not very). Now, we have a confirmed and official list of every game that will be available at launch. And the list is pretty long, especially when compared to some other launches.

Some of the games are likely not going to be great, but the presence of Uncharted and Hot Shots Golf are enough to ensure Sony sells at least a few thousand devices. And hey, who doesn’t love Katamari?

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is all geared up for its Japanese release, at least insofar as its boxart is concerned.

Capcom has revealed the official art for the game's Japanese version cover, featuring practically every imaginable known character set to make an appearance in the fighting game.

Newcomers Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, Nova and Rocket Raccoon join in the band of Marvel folks, while on the side of the Capcom fighters are a variety of personalities in the formof Phoenix Wright, Firebrand, Galactus and Nemesis. Meanwhile, standing quietly behind all of the impending ruckus is Galactus. Smack in the middle, but outside, yes he is.

Amazon France lists Marvel vs. Capcom 3 also for PS Vita

Amazon France has listed Marvel vs. Capcom 3 up on their site. While that's nothing new, what's surprising is that they listed it for the PlayStation Vita as well.

Actually, there are about a couple other things that's suspect. We all know there's going to be a "revitalized" version of MvC3 in the form of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, so it is indeed curious why they would ship the old version out to Vita instead of the new one.

Unless of course Capcom's maintaining that MvC3 is a complete game in itself and is totally separate and different from Ultimate. In which case, Capcom succeeds in nothing except affirm that they are milking out this franchise dry despite the angry mob pounding on their doors.

Capcom still hasn't said anything official about this, however, so this remains to be pure speculation at best right now. Frankly, though, I wouldn't be surprised if that's Capcom's plan.

This kid here is eight years old. He's no noob gamer, as his achievement of winning the Marvel vs Capcom 3 Match at EVO.

The scene is enough to melt even the most jaded, cynical, ice-cold hearts, especially when the crowd rose up to give him a much-deserved standing ovation.

So a lot of people weren't all too impressed when Capcom announced the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Unfortunately, this news item here doesn't make it much better, particularly because it's about how it's coming out only in disc-form.

Yep, no upgrading for all you hoping to just do away with the extra cost of buying another copy. Most fans would have wanted to just get it in DLC form, but Capcom is having none of that.

Said producer Ryota Niitsuma, "Right now, we're only thinking about releasing a disc version." He furthered, "Given the development schedule, there wasn't enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route."

So how much are you going to have to shell out if you want this improved version of Marvel vs. Capcom 3? US$ 39.99 at retail. As most of our readers have pointed out, that was one heck of an expensive beta release you pulled back there, Capcom.

Yep, no upgrading for all you hoping to just do away with the extra cost of buying another copy.
