Sony is ready for the influx of new Vita users, but may have made a costly mistake.
As of this morning, the PlayStation Store was flush with content for the newly released PS Vita. Sony dropped a metric crap-ton of new content onto the store, most of which is engineered to interact with or be played on the Vita. You’ll find new games, new apps and a few demos—plenty of content to keep you busy for your first few hours with the device.
There are three “augmented-reality” games currently available; Cliff Diving, Fireworks and Table Soccer all use the Vita’s cameras to detect player movement, which then influences gameplay. New games include Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack and Touch My Katamari. There’s also a new Twitter app, full Flickr support and Netflix, all for the PS Vita.
One curious tidbit has been raised by attentive gamers, though: some of the PS Vita demos are labeled as “PS Vita Game” instead of as demos, and are the full size of the actual game. There is speculation that Sony may have pulled another “Undead Knights” and accidentally released full games as demos, which would mean that you can currently pick up Rayman Origins, Dungeon Hunter, Hustle Kings, Little Deviants and others free of charge.
If you picked up a Vita at launch, now would be the time to check out those demos to see if Sony screwed up. Let us know how it goes in the comments.

Thanks to Shuehei Yoshida of Sony, we now know that not only will the PSP Suite for the NGP be catering to full-length games, but also triple-A "short form games".
In fact, the two have both been in development since 2008. This was the information he revealed at a recent Q&A over on the UK PlayStation UK site.
"Short form games on PS Suite will on both PlayStation Certified Android devices and NGP. However, the true heroes on PS Suite will be small, independent developers, who are much more nible and have some creative ideas that have never been seen before. I'm very excited to see what kinds of games these small developers will provide via PS Suite later this year."
He did make mention of triple-A titles, and also went on to explain their development of it. "We are working on our popular series as well as brand new concepts, large games and short form games, augmented reality games, touch only games and network only games. We are alos looking to expand over time from hardcore to casual games, games for younger consumers and non-game applications as well.
We understand traditional games are not the only entertainment that people look for, and NGP allows us to develop various types of entertainment on the same hardware platform, which is very exciting."
So how does he think will the NGP open up the PSP experience to new genres? "Various uniue user interfaces and digital distribution will help developers experiment with many different types of games," he said, "whether they be intuitive, casual games using dual touch; augmented reality games; location based fun activities or network only, free to play, online games. The possibilities are endless for creative developers."
YOshida-san has got a lot more exciting things to say about the PS Suite and the NGP, so do click on the source link below for the rest of the interview, as well as the video.

Earlier this year, reports landed on the Internet, supposedly of Sony telling licensees "the device 'is as powerful as its big brother, the PS3." Fast forward to the ongoing Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, however, and here we have the company denying they made any claims of the sort.
"Some people in the press have said wow, this thing... could be as powerful as PS3," said David Coombes, platform research manager for SCEA. "Well, it's not going to run at 2GHz because the battery would last five minutes. And it would probably set fire to your pants."
Having disspelled that notion of the NGP being as powerful, or even rivaling the PS3, Sony then went on to present their demo of the NGP, as well as shed some more details about it.
The game cards, according to him, will be available in shops, in two sizes: 2GB and 4GB. Given these numbers, it's then very obvious that it does not even come close to the usual 9GB size of a game for the PS3, on Blu-ray.
He does, however, remained mum about just how much the internal memory of the NGP will actually have. "I can't talk about the actual numbers, but compared to the PSP we have a LOT of memory... we're closer to PS3 than PSP in terms of memory size."
The original PSP model (Phat/1000) had 32MB worth of memory. The successors -- Slim/2000, 3000 and PSP Go -- meanwhile, all had 64MB. As for the PS3, it has 256 MB system, and 256 MB video. Given these numbers, and his clue that the NGP's memory leans more towards that of the PS3's than the previous PSP models, it should probably be around... 150-200ish? That's just a wild guess from my part, though.
Apart from that, he also discussed the two versions that the NGP will be having. While both versions will have Wi-Fi, one edges out over the other because of the 3G network connectivity. The version with the 3G feature also will have GPS sensors. Those who will be getting the Wi-Fi only version need not feel left out, though. You can still rely on the wi-fi to "do quite accurate positioning." In fact, "in urban areas, it's more accurate than GPS," he said.
He then went on to talk about the hardware itself. As you now know, and have probably ogled at and scrutinized for every waking hour since it was officially unveiled, the NGP will be sporting a front touch screen, as well as a rear touch pad. Both of these touch-surfaces would be able to detect how much pressure you're putting on the handheld. It's what they call the "analogue strength reading". As to what it can do for you, well, let's just say at least now you can see for yourself how hard you're mashing those buttons -- or in this case, that screen.
Other details you must know about the NGP:
5-inch screen
960x544 resolution
anti-aliasing
Having done his part of the Sony presentation of the NGP, Tsutomu Horikawa, SCEI director of sotware interantional development partner in Tokyo, then took to the stage to show off what the NGP can actually do.
The augmented reality demonstration had the NGP "visualizing" a T-Rex in the theatre's aisle. Sounds cool, yes? Guess what. It looks even cooler. Just check it out in the embedded video below.
Now, the show did not end there. Sony had a lot of other goodies to show off. And why not? It's the perfect time to shut up the naysayers, to prove that Sony is still so in the handhelds race.
They had two other live demos featuring the NGP software, featuring some of the games that will be coming to it. There's Little Deviants and Uncharted Portable showing GDC attendees the hot stuff.
