Fans are foaming at the mouth for a PC port of this devastatingly difficult console title.
Dark Souls was one of the most interesting games of 2011, bringing difficulty back to the masses and causing the death of many a controller. However, PC players were miraculously spared from this destruction, left only to imagine Dark Souls’ horrors based on the hollow faces of their console-going friends.
PC players seem to be clamoring for a bit of punishment, as an online petition has amassed 50,000 signatures requesting that From Software make some sort of PC version of Dark Souls. We mentioned the petition last week, and since that time, it has landed additional 10-15,000 signatures. As petitions go, it seems to be a pretty good one.
It’s unclear whether developers respond to fan petitions, but I’m sure From Software is weighing the cost of building a PC port against the potential profits. If there’s money to be made, you can bet Dark Souls will eventually find its way to a gaming PC near you. There’s been no response from the developer as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
It’s worth noting that this whole thing was set off by an administrator post on the official forums, stating that an adaptation would be possible with the right amount of demand. Perhaps From was testing the waters?
Would you like to see Dark Souls on your PC?

The company is finally taking its first step into paid DLC content – let’s just hope it’s not with a pack of weapon skins.
The paid DLC market is raging onward, with every publisher and developer now incorporating long-term DLC releases into their design strategy. The one large company that’s stayed out of this fray, for the most part, is Nintendo. However, Nintendo looks primed to finally enter the DLC market with its upcoming 3DS RPG, Fire Emblem.
Nintendo wasn’t too specific when it comes to what the DLC will actually contain, but they did note that they would not release any DLC content that makes the game easier to navigate or gives some players an advantage over others. The first DLC pack is dated for March 2012 – fairly close to the estimated “spring” release of Fire Emblem.
The company also went on record as noting that paid DLC will be a part of the Wii U’s competitive strategy, so it looks like Nintendo fans had better prepare their wallets. With Nintendo onboard, we can assume that DLC is going to be a major part of the next console generation, with an even greater impact than in the current generation.
What do you think of Nintendo finally succumbing to DLC madness?

The maker of World of Warcraft is concerned over the potential security risks posed by the recent hacking of another popular MMO.
We reported last week that Rift, a very popular MMORPG published by Trion Worlds, had suffered a major security breach. The hackers assumedly didn’t get any credit card information, but user passwords may have been compromised. This led Trion to reset the Rift passwords for all users, just to be safe. They also awarded players a special item that awards players 10% more gold when looting, in case they had to take the realms down.
Today, Blizzard fired a message out to World of Warcraft subscribers via its official Twitter account, stating that if you use the same password for more than one game, it may be a good idea to change it. Since Rift password information has potentially been compromised, it’s safe to assume that clever hackers may try that information to access accounts in different games.
Blizzard didn’t call Rift out by name, referring only to “one of the more popular MMOs,” but the message is clear – if you play Rift, make sure your password is safe. If your Rift account and WoW account share similar information, both are at risk regardless of which developer is compromised.
This is an interesting moment for the world of gaming. No matter how amazing Blizzard’s internal security may be, they’re only as strong as their users and the other games those users play. Seems frustrating, from a security perspective.
Did you get caught up in the Rift hack? And do you use the same password across several sites/services?

The Aussie ratings board strikes again, blocking the game from release in Australia due to being unsuitable for minors.
Oh, Australia. Your ratings board, as we have discussed previously, is sort of a mess. Games and movies are rated on completely different scales, which results in some very weird happenings. One problem with the Aussie ratings system is that there’s no classification for games that are intended only for adults, meaning that Mature-type games can effectively be blocked from release in the country.
This is exactly what happened to Syndicate, which according to the ratings board was refused classification due to intense blood and gore. Because there’s no “grown-ups only,” rating in Australia, the game will not see an Aussie release unless it’s eventually accepted under the current classification system – despite the fact that the Aussie government is currently working on an R18+ rating.
The ratings board has banned a couple of high profile games over the last few years, most notably 2011’s Mortal Kombat and Fallout 3 (later accepted with edits). Other games, such as The Witcher 2, have come painfully close, requiring in-game changes to pass muster. There’s no word on whether EA will fight the decision or attempt to edit their game, but for now it looks like Aussie players may have to do without Syndicate.
What do you folks think of Australia’s games rating system? Dumb? Effective? Both?

Tomorrow’s 2GB Battlefield patch brings bug fixes, balance changes, and a few other goodies.
We knew that a Battlefield 3 patch was on the way, and we knew that it resolved a few glaring issues (like the tactical light – get it!? Glaring?!), but the full extent of the patch wasn’t really clear until the full patch notes went public. After a quick glance through, it’s obvious DICE is serious about keeping their game as balanced and fun as possible.
The bulk of the 2GB patch is content for the upcoming Back to Karkand DLC pack, but the rest is all adjustments to existing game mechanics. Among the fixes? A big nerf to mortars, a buff to jet cannons, spawn point adjustment and a ton of tiny tweaks to weapons. Here’s the full list of changes, courtesy of Battlelog:
Bugfixes
• Fixed a problem with spawn timer now showing blue border on startup and lost spawn point
• Fixed a problem where player who joined queuing on End of round got spawn screen stuck on screen, but unable to do anything with it until next round loaded
• Fixed a problem where camera would change to 3rd person on killcam when killcam was turned off in server settings
• Fixed stat references on several dogtags
• Fixed for surveillance ribbon not counting TUGS
• Fixed a missing combat area lines on the minimap for Grand Bazaar conquest small
• Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree
• Fixed a problem where placing C4 with the russians soldier was playing US faction VO
• Fixed a problem where TV guided missiles could be shot into its own helicopter and destroy it
• Fixed a problem when attempting to fire lock on weapons without a target
• Tweaked the chat, it should now be a bit easier to read
• Fixed several vehicles that did not properly shoot rockets and guns towards their predictive sights
• Fixed the G17 Supressed Laser not working properly
• Added alternate HUD colors to help colorblinds
• Added a network interpolation setting. This allows users with good bandwidth reduce latency, but might increase some stuttering. The user can find what works best for his connection by tweaking the slider.
• Increased the Spawn protection radius on TDM
• Fixed a problem with smoke on land vehicles, Missiles should now miss more often
• Fixed a problem where users could end up with IRNV scope in any vehicle
• Fixed a problem where player dies if vaulting over a ledge and into water while sprinting
• Fixed several crashes and increased general stability
• Fixed a problem where the user was unable to revive two players that have the bodies one over the other
• Fixed so you can assign an axis and use as a digital input. This makes it possible for the player (on pc) to assign one of the sticks on a gameped to be used for throttle/brake.
• Fixed a problem with the Kill camera acting up when suiciding from parachute

• Fixed a problem where you could get green flashes on screen
• You can now reassign cycle weapons
• Fixed so the weapon zooms automatically after bipod deploy is gone when using zoom toggle
• Fixed a problem where the parachute would stay stuck in air if the owner was killed
Balance Tweaks
• Fixed several weapons so they are properly suppressed and hide the player on the minimap when fired.
• Tweaked Tactical Light so it is not as blinding over longer ranges.
• Tweaked the IRNV scope so it is limited to usage only at close range.
• Reduced heat masking effectiveness of Spec Ops Camo.

• Slightly decreased the accuracy for all weapons on fully automatic, burst fire is now preferable at mid to long range.
• Increased the effective accuracy of long bursts for LMGs when using a bipod.
• Slightly increased the range of the 44magnum bullets.
• Increased the close range damage of 4.6x30mm and 5.7x28mm bullets.
• Increased the reload time of the Mortar from 3.5sec to 4.8sec and increased the time it takes before a shell hits the ground.
• Reduced the aimed accuracy bonus given by a Suppressor for the MP7, P90, PP2000, PP-19, and UMP45.
• Increased the range and FOV for designating targets with the SOFLAM and vehicle Laser Designators.

• Decreased the power of Miniguns against Jets and Helicopters.
• Increased the power of Stingers against Jets.
• Flares reload times for Jets and Helicopter Gunners have been increased.
• Tweaked the AN94 so its burst fire better conveys the real world advantage offered by this weapon.
• Added Single Shot to the AN94 as an available fire mode.
• Slightly increased the recoil on the M416 and removed the Burst Fire mode (this weapon incorrectly had burst fire, which was not authentic).
• Tweaked the spawns for TDM on Kharg Island, Grand Bazaar, Caspian Border, Seine Crossing, Operation Firestorm, Damavand Peak and Noshahar Canals
• Moved a tank spawn in US base on Caspian Border so it would not be destroyed by a falling tree
• Tweaked the Gas station Capture area on Conquest on Caspian Border
• Tweaked the max vehicle height on Noshahar Canals
So there’s that. See anything you like?

Oops! The massive retailer has apparently deleted or lost a huge stack of Old Republic pre-orders.
Walmart is a pretty big force in the world of retail, and it’s safe to assume that a fair number of gamers with Star Wars: The Old Republic pre-orders placed those orders at a Walmart counter. Unfortunately for them, it looks like the store is having a bit of an issue tracking down some of those orders, thanks to either a mistake, data loss, or just plain incompetence.
Some players that pre-ordered SWTOR through Walmart are receiving emails that state the pre-order has been canceled due to a “temporary shipping issue,” which frankly doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. There’s no official word on how many pre-orders have been affected, nor is their information on whether or not people with canceled orders will be getting their money back. However, all signs point to thousands of deletions at the very least, and the possibility that Walmart may have canceled every SWTOR pre-order for both the Standard and Collector’s editions of the game.
While it’s unclear if affected players will be able to pick up the edition of the game they originally ordered, there is one bit of good news – if you’ve already registered your pre-order code, you’ll still have early access to the game.
We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out. Reports right now are largely coming from the Bioware forums and upset players; Walmart’s response has been limited to automatic/mass emails. The last word indicated that players would have more information about their orders sometime before December 7.
Did you pre-order The Old Republic through Walmart? If so, is your order still in place?

Mojang and LEGO confirm that they’re working on Minecraft-themed LEGOS. Here’s hoping for some Creepers!
I played Minecraft very intensely for about two weeks, and when friends asked me what the game was all about, I explained it by saying, “Well, it’s like LEGOs, except it’s a game.” I’m sure there are plenty of Minecraft players that would agree with this statement – the simple block-building mechanics of the game are reminiscent of the block building we all did in our youths.
Which is why it’s no surprise to see that LEGO and Mojang are officially partnering up for a series of Minecraft-themed LEGOs. The whole thing is actually the result of a community outreach program put into motion by LEGO – they asked LEGO fans what brands they wanted to see next, and the response overwhelmingly favored Minecraft.
Mojang appears to be onboard, stating that the two brands were “meant to be together,” and also that they’ll be donating their part of the royalties to charity.
Everything is still in the design phase now, and you can see some proposed designs here: Lego Cuuso.

If you love playing the same game in different settings, head to the Android Market/iTunes Store and buy Angry Birds, again.
Angry Birds has long had a lock on the mobile gaming market, though it was recently dethroned by Scribblenauts. Still, no game has sold quite as well as the bird-flinging puzzler, possibly due to its simple but incredibly addictive gameplay. Sure, we’ve seen games like Angry Birds before, but Rovio seems to have distilled the experience into a fine solution that’s easy to drink and tasty to boot.
The game is ubiquitous, penetrating all layers of pop culture to the point where even your non-gaming parents have probably heard of it.
Christmas is almost here, which means it’s time for our obligatory Angry Birds update. Angry Birds Seasons: Wreck the Halls is now available for download on the Android Market and iTunes Store, boasting 25 new levels, with each one being made available day-by-day until the 25th. The final level promises a showdown with Big Pig, which I can only assume is the primary bad guy in the franchise (I never finished the original).
If Angry Birds is your game of choice, you may as well download Seasons. If you’ve never played the game and want to give it a shot, it’s better to stick with the original and then move on to the more niched versions. It’s the same game all around, but the seasonal versions feel pretty cheap compared to the much more robust original.
What do you think of seasonal Angry Birds updates? Fun way to celebrate, or sneaky way to cash in?

Saints Row the Third is celebrated for the freedom it gives players. If you want to wear a bear costume around and beat up pedestrians, that’s quite okay with Saints Row. In fact, there’s not much you can’t do in the games fictional city of Steelport.
THQ build an impressive stats-tracking mechanism directly into Saints Row the Third, which in addition to helping you show off to your friends, gives the developer the ability to aggregate information regarding player habits and actions.
In a recent post on the official Saints Row site, THQ shared some of the more interesting statistics with the gaming public. Namely:
5.8 billion citizens of the city have been killed
Players have spent two years running around naked
650 hot dog guys have been killed by flamethrowers
Oh, and let’s not overlook the weirdest stat – since launch, 2 million people have been killed by giant purple dildos.
I’m not sure what to make of all this, except that Saints Row players are apparently having a really, really good time. Carry on!
Have you killed anyone with a dildo yet? What are you waiting for?

Bethesda’s RPG epic knocks Call of Duty from its perch on one of the most popular services in PC gaming.
Sure, Modern Warfare 3 made a zillion dollars last week. Sure, it’s the biggest launch in history. But last night, gamers seemed to forget about Call of Duty for a few hours to focus on the new kid in town: Skyrim. Valve’s Steam tracker shows that Skyrim landed 231,583 users during the first 24 hours following its launch, while Modern Warfare 3 held the second place slot with 78,161.
Of course, these are only Steam numbers – sales tallies aren’t in and for the moment, there’s no real way to tell if this trend was reflected on consoles. But it’s still an impressive feat, and knocking the biggest game in history off the throne for even a few hours is an achievement Bethesda should celebrate. Skyrim is a hotly anticipated title so it’s no surprise to see it doing well; we’ll just have to wait and see how the numbers even out over the coming weeks.
Modern Warfare 3 will likely regain the top slot as the initial push of Skyrim players dissipates and things level out, especially once Skyward Sword hits shelves later this month. RPG fans can’t play both games at the same time, but shooter fans are pretty much done with choosing until next year’s inevitable Call of Duty sequel.
Which game are you spending your time with this weekend? Contrary to what the commenters on this post seem to believe, I’ll be playing Battlefield 3.

Nintendo is releasing a special wheel accessory for Mario Kart 7, but does it really make any sense?
Mario Kart Wii came boxed with a plastic wheel you could connect to your Wiimote for a more “realistic” driving experience. In other words, you could tilt the controller to steer instead of tapping the analog stick in one direction or the other. The wheel proved to be imprecise and I don’t know a single person that prefers it over the Wiimote, unless it’s as a rule for some obscure drinking game.
Nintendo’s wheel accessory makes sense in terms of fun and I’m sure there are plenty of people that enjoy using it, but for players serious about performance it’s never going to replace the analog stick. It’s just too sloppy for consistent performance. It looks like Mario Kart 7 will be no different, with Nintendo offering a wheel attachment for the Nintendo 3DS.
There are a few things that don’t add up here. Number one, anyone who’s played a 3DS knows that moving the screen even a little completely disrupts the 3D experience (and in my case, makes me want to hurl). Number two, even if you turn the 3D off, you’re still moving the screen all over the place when you steer. It works for Mario Kart Wii because you’re tiling a controller, not your television – with the 3DS you’ll have to tilt your head along with the wheel.
Nintendo is testing the wheel release in Japan, and I suspect they may try and drop it in North America as well. The question is, how many people want to tilt their 3DS all over the place just to get through a race? My guess is very few.
Do you think adding a wheel accessory to a handheld device can work?

The games giant talks about a special mode found in the latest title in the Resident Evil series, and why gamers will want to play it.
Resident Evil: Revelations is an important title for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s one of the few top-notch games that are headed to the device that aren’t also proprietary brands or based entirely on taking care of fake animals, so Capcom and Nintendo both need to get it right. Though the 3DS has been seeing better sales as of late, strong software choices will help to keep this improvement going.
Resident Evil: Revelations is very much a Resident Evil game, with zombies, monsters and a variety of survival horror traditions, but Capcom is also looking to make the game a little more flexible. They’ve officially announced what they’re calling “Raid Mode,” which is a special game mode in which one or two players are given a set of missions and objectives and graded on completion. The points earned in Raid mode are then used for weapon and character upgrades.
It sort of sounds like the Spec Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2 (and maybe Black Op? I didn’t play that one), where there are short, targeted missions with specific time and points goals.
Here’s what assistant producer had to say about it:
"The story mode in the game is something we created with the single-player experience in mind. I would like everyone to play the game in their bedroom with the lights off and headphones on. That's the way to experience the mode.
At the same time, these games we create, we know they're really enjoyable when you're able to share some of that experience with a friend. Multiplayer is very important and that communication is something that resonates with everyone. We felt putting Raid Mode in, in this kind of structure, allowed us to do that for this game as well.”
Raid mode will function via Wi-Fi and the web and borrows levels from the solo campaign, but we’ll just have to see if it’s a viable multiplayer experience. I think the hard part would likely be finding someone else with a 3DS.
How do you feel about multiplayer in Resident Evil? It’s worked okay in the past, but is it right for the 3DS?

Find out what games real gamers selected as the best of the year, from a contest that earned over two million votes.
GamesMaster’s Golden Joystick Awards are different from other award given out in the games industry, because the people who select the winners are the people that play the games. The Golden Joysticks compile their list of winners based exclusively on votes from players, which means there are not usually any big surprises when the winners list comes out.
One could note that since the votes really only represent the popular gaming mind, excellent but less-known games don’t have much of a chance of winning. Either way, the awards do help us get a pretty good idea of what gamers liked in the last few months, and what they’re still playing. You’ll notice a big wins for Mojang (Minecraft), Ubisoft (Assassin’s Creed) and Rovio (Angry Birds), but the year clearly belongs to Activision/Blizzard (StarCraft, World of Warcraft, Black Ops and Guitar Hero). It probably doesn’t hurt that most of the titles on the list seem to be available for more than one system.
Here’s the list, compiled by GamePro:
Action/Adventure Game of the Year: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Mobile Game of the Year: Angry Birds Rio
Roleplaying Game of the Year: Fallout: New Vegas
Massively Multiplayer Online Game of the Year: World of Warcraft
Fighting Game of the Year: Mortal Kombat
Racing Game of the Year: Gran Turismo 5
Sports Game of the Year: FIFA 11
Strategy Game of the Year: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Music Game of the Year: Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
Free to Play Game of the Year: League of Legends
Downloadable Game of the Year: Minecraft
Shooter Game of the Year: Call of Duty: Black Ops
One to Watch Award: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Innovation of the Year: Nintendo 3DS
Outstanding Contribution: Sonic the Hedgehog
Ultimate Game of the Year: Portal 2
I’m pretty surprised to see the 3DS on the list, since it gets a lot of flak from players and the press, but I guess there weren’t’ many other innovations to speak of.
Remember that winners are taken exclusively from games that game out within the last 12 months, so don’t throw a hissy fit if your favorite game isn’t there unless you’re sure it’s eligible.
That being said, do you see anything in this list worth throwing a hissy fit over?

Nintendo plans a live, online presentation to talk to fans about the future of their 3D handheld system.
The Nintendo 3DS got off to a rocky start, with far less demand from players than the company expected. After a pretty big price drop (and a few good title releases), the console finally started to get a little traction from the industry – but not much. The 3DS still sits on the edge of failure, with the upcoming holiday season likely deciding the fate of the system.
Hoping to build buzz for the system and address player concerns, Nintendo has scheduled a live online presentation for Friday, October 21st. It will occur at 8pm Japan time – 12-14 hours ahead of North America, depending on your time zone (7am Eastern time).
Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, is currently slated to host the event and viewers can expect to learn about the new 3DS firmware. Also on the table is the upcoming Mario Kart 7, though it’s unclear exactly what will or won’t be discussed. While you can certainly watch clips from the presentation later in the day (while you’re pretending to work), if you want to stream it live you’ll be able to pick it up on Ustream and Nico Nico Live.
The new 3DS firmware update is supposed to feature an updated version of the handheld’s Mii Plaza function in addition to giving gamers access to the 3DS’s 3D camera so they can make their own 3D videos. There will also be some minor tweaks and fixes to the system, but nothing major as the 3DS hasn’t really suffered from hacks and exploits. As always, think twice before upgrading your system if you use a flash card or homebrew software – you never know when it might get patched up.
It’s currently scheduled for November, but we may get an official date this Friday.

Nintendo continues its trend of multicolored handheld devices by announcing two new colors for the 3DS. Can this update bring new customers to the platform?
The Nintendo 3DS has experienced its fair share of issues since launch. Customers don’t seem to be in any hurry to purchase it, and the lack of demand has already caused Nintendo to drop the price substantially in the hopes of finding more players. Even hardcore Nintendo fans like myself have lamented the overall lack of titles and the sore eyes that accompany long-term 3D play.
Nintendo doesn’t seem to be dissuaded by these minor setbacks and instead has announced two new color additions to the 3DS line-up. Japanese consumers will be able to choose between “Misty Pink,” available on October 20th, and “Ice White,” available on November 3rd. This brings the total number of 3DS color variants to five: Ice White, Misty Pink, Aqua Blue, Cosmos Black and Red Flame.
As of right now, there is no confirmed release date for the color variants here in the States, but it’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing them soon enough.
While new color configurations are certainly one way to pull in new buyers, they don’t really solve any of the primary problems gamers currently experience with the 3DS. The drop in price is certainly agreeable to consumer wallets, but without a killer game, it’s unlikely that new color variants will bring too many more gamers into the 3DS fold.
The 3DS release schedule for the holiday season looks strong through, with “Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns,” “Super Mario 3D Land” and “Mario Kart 7” all set to hit shelves in the next couple of months.
Are you tempted to buy a 3DS when new colors arrive, or are you waiting until better games come along?

The newest entry in Capcom’s survival-horror franchise finally has an official release, as well as a limited-edition 3DS protective case.
“Resident Evil” set a standard for survival horror. Limited inventory space, scarce ammunition and non-linked storage boxes forced players to think through their actions; if you were reckless with ribbons and ammunition early on, the later part of the game would prove to be quite difficult. With a few exceptions, subsequent “Resident Evil” titles slowly shed the survival aspect of the game, each game focusing more on action than the last and forgoing many of the things that made the first one so challenging and engaging.
Capcom’s latest entry, “Resident Evil: Revelations,” promises a return to form. The game’s events take place in between those of “Resident Evil 4” and “Resident Evil 5” and center on old friend Jill Valentine who has been sent to investigate mysterious happenings on a cruise ship. It turns out that Chris Redfield, another classic character, somehow vanished from the ship without a trace. You’ll explore the ship and other locations as you work to unravel the mystery and, naturally, stay alive.
The game sticks to the original’s mechanics of limited item supply and puzzle solving, but adds a new feature in the form of the item scanner. This special device can help you locate items strewn about the environment – pretty handy considering all of the ribbons I basically never found the first time around.
“Resident Evil: Revelations” is officially set to launch on Nintendo’s 3DS system February 7, 2012. If you pre-order the game from GameStop, you’ll also receive a limited-edition protective case for your 3DS that changes designs based on whether it’s in the sun.
The pre-order bonus does feel gimmicky, but it’s nice to see a bonus that gives players something real rather than some nonsense costume or weapon skin.
Are you ready for another Umbrella-themed adventure in the dark? Do you prefer the limited ammunition and strategy of early “Resident Evil” titles, or did you enjoy the more fast-paced sequels?

The incredible and often hilarious two-dimensional adaptation of Valve’s “Team Fortress 2” is now out and available for free download.
This week is truly the week of the free game. First, “The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures” drops on the Nintendo eShop, then “Monster Trouble” goes free to play on iOs devices, and now we’re graced with yet another free way to waste our valuable time: “Team Fortress Arcade.”
“Team Fortress Arcade” is a simple reimagining of the super-popular and often incredibly frustrating “Team Fortress 2.” In the arcade version, however, instead of capping points, sapping sentries and (if you play like me) healing the other team’s spies, you play the role of hero in a two-dimensional, 8-bit side-scroller.
The game was developed by Eric Ruth, who Valve fans may recognize as the mastermind behind a similar remake of Left 4 Dead. You can play “Team Fortress Arcade” alone, or you can grab up to three friends to triple-tag team the game’s enemies and bosses. Players are able to choose any of the nine classes from the original “Team Fortress 2,” though I would wager you’re insane to plan anything but Heavy.
Every player serves the Blu team, fighting off minor red bad guys until facing off with a class-based villain. Each villain strives to capture the most annoying parts of his representative class, so be prepared to shout some obscenities while the Scout bounces all over the screen.
Check out “Team Fortress Arcade” and read an interview with Eric Ruth on Piki Geek.
Also, if you’ve never played “Team Fortress 2” (shame on you!) it’s also free to download and play via Steam. Silly hats, however, are not included. You can check that out right here: Team Fortress 2.

The official display boxes for Super Mario 3D land is pointing out a pertinent information about the game.
Apparently, it will be making use of the StreetPass feature, as well as Super Guide features. The StreetPass feature basically lets players "passing" each other by to trade in-game items. It's still not particularly clear, though, which specific items can be traded among players. At least not for now.
Meanwhile, the Super Guide or the P-Winged Assist Blocks should work at guiding players with special items that can help them perform better.
We've still got time anyway since Super Mario 3D Land won't be releasing till November 3rd in Japan, and 13th for North America.
Nintendo also previously dished out more information on the game, specifically on the adventures awaiting us in each particular World.

While all other publishers are dishing out raves for the yet-to-be-released PlayStation Vita, one developing studio, Heavy Iron, isn't mincing words about what they really think about it.
In an interview with Gamesindustry, president Lyle Hall gave some choice words on Sony's latest handheld.
"If people aren't willing to pay US$ 249 for a Nintendo 3DS why would they pay US$ 299 for Vita?" he started. "People don't want to carry more than one thing in their pocket, that's why Android and iPhone have done so well, they are devices of choice, they offer multiple functions outside of gaming. People don't want it."
Matthew Seymour chimes in, and says, "With all due respects to Sony and Vita, it's a car wreck. And how about Xperia Play? I'd love to pull up the numbers on that."
They did have something good to say about it, although that really, in the general picture, does not really help in their final conclusion.
"The technology is sweet," conceded Hall. "I'm a huge fan of mobile technology. But I just don't know there's a market out there any more for the hardware. I can't see why you would want to put a device out that only does games. The consumer has spoken. We wanted to see that world exist -- more players, more opportunities for us -- but at the same time people don't want that. Unless there's a super technology paradigm shift it's not going to shift back."
Forecasts for the future of the PlayStation Vita has been varied, with analysts believing in its good fortune, while critics saying it will have a hard time breaking into the market unless they lower the price.

Good news: 3DS sales have doubled in Japan! Bad news: the sales are for USED 3DS units.
Media Create's data reveal that more 3DS handhelds have been resold by owners. What makes it just a bit less alarming, though, is that they are actually being snatched right back up.
The increase in sales of second-hand unit may be explained by a variety of factors, including which may be the players' interest in participating in the Ambassador program. Said program promises the benefit of giving free games to early adopters before the official price drop becomes implemented.
On the other hand, however, brand new 3DS units experienced a drop in sales after the price drop was announced by Nintendo.
The company is still pretty much struggling to remedy this problem of slow sales for the 3DS, on top of the issue of what appears to be a lack in software. President Satoru Iwata recently divulged their plans of coming out with 3D-less games for the 3DS to fill in the void. According to him, third-party publishers can focus on the unit's other integral features, anyway.

Nintendo 3DS may not be enjoying as much popularity in retail as people expected. To this, Shigeru Miyamoto had something to say in an interview with French website Ecrans.
Admitting that the "sales curve could be better," he went on to expound on the probable reasons why it's not flying off stores shelves as its predecessors did. Here's his response to the issue, as translated from the French website:
"Obviously, we can consider that the sales curve could be better, especially when compared to those of our previous hardware, and we were hoping to better themselves. But we must take into account the overall context of the industry during this period, and a cooling global sales of hardware.
I also think that we have unfortunately not been able to present from the start a fairly comprehensive range of games. But this is no longer the case. New features online and a series of highly anticipated games will be there for the summer. The content that our players expect happens, do not worry."
And hopefully, they will have a strong lineup for this summer. Nintendo just announced their lineup for the Comic Con event, with quite a list of games coming in tow. Unfortunately, however, one of the more anticipated 3DS titles, Mega Man Legends 3, was just confirmed to have been canned by Capcom.
