Zephyr to debut in Australia this April? |

If you ever thought for once that the rumor concerning Xbox 360, HDMI, and behemoth hard drive is all over, well, think again. Because it looks like that the hushed talks are about to become louder and bolder.Gaming site Gamers Reports just re-opened the flood gates that lead to the existence of a newer Xbox 360 model, appropriately dubbed as Zephyr or Xbox 720 (take your pick).
According to the site, its sources have confirmed that Microsoft of Australia has told a retail chain named Myer to prepare its stores for a black X360 with a 120GB this April. Furthermore, Gamers Reports continued and said that,
Well day 2 of product knowledge today (Brisbane, Australia) featured Microsoft themselves and it's now 100% official that the Black 360, with black controller, 120GB hard drive and HDMI is due out in Australia for AU$ 749 (US$ 583) in April. They will try to push this forward to late March to deter buyers from the March 23 PS3 launch.
If this turns out to be true, shipments will also be sent to North America and the rest of Europe. But that is exactly the thing - if this turns out ot be true.

Well if it is true and it costs 583 US$ that will be amazing, that works out at around £295, even the Core owners could sell their systems and only have to pay another £200 or less to get this HDMI equipped 360 which also has a massive Double the size of the top PS3 drive. Although they will proberly get the choice of buying the 120 gig drive as an addon as well, the HDMI port well unless you have an HDTV why worry and anyway there is one BIG TRADOFF with HDTVS and that is normal TV looks TERRIBLE the picture is blocky the closer you get the worse it gets and no matter how much you pay for an HDTV you cannot change the quality of TV broadcasts and that will not be changing for years to come.
Your statement about all hdtvs looking like crap on standard tv is true for lcds and plasmas..those of us that have crt based hdtv have great quality on standard broadcasts and hdtv broadcast look just as good or better than plasma...they also cost less and dont burn out after a year or 2.
You could add the HD-DVD drive to the Zephyr and because it comes with double the size of the PS3 drive and has HDMI etc it would still work out around £50 cheaper than the top PS3.
The xbox360 with hd-dvd cost more than ps3. The ps3 is a one powerful box and not two. And the ps3 can have every SATA hard disk. The xbox360 want only Microsoft drive and it cost too much respect to the size. A modder place a 700GB in the ps3
Well the Xbox360 will finally have a bigger drive, thats one good thing.
Everyone knows that the price in one country wont reflect the same price in other countries.
Expect Microsoft to jack up the price of the 120GB drive add-on.
Er hang on you missed a couple of points, you mean it will have Double the size that the PS3 offers, it will have HDMI and can you can add an HD-DVD drive and will still be a LOT cheaper than the now well !, dated looking PS3 .
And also lets not forget about the 360s huge library of games oh its looking good for 360 now.
Oh Dear, look again we are talking about the NEW Zephyr do you not actually read the news first ?.
The new 360 has HDMI, and 120 GIG HARDDRIVE which is DOUBLE that of the PS3 and yet the Zephyr (if this news is true) will ONLY cost £295 or 583 US$, so add a HD-DVD drive which is around £130 and you get all the same as the PS3 BUT you also get DOUBLE the size standard Harddrive.
i wonder if they'll release a black HD-DVD add-on to match the black xbox

well if thsi is true, then thsi Zephyr thing is just microsoft confirming that they are 'afraid' of the ps3.
ps3 comes with:
- relatively big HD
- next-gen media device (blu-ray)
- high def output out of the box
none of wich the xbox360 has, change blu-ray to hd-dvd if you want.
so now that the ps3 is slowly making its way around the nextgen grounds, microsoft feels threathend and is plotting to release a new model with all of the old models shortcomings (compared to ps3) fixed.
gotta hand it to microsoft, they know how to say, 'oops, made some mistakes back then'.
the ps3 is still cheaper at least in the U.S. Zephyr is U.S. 583 dollars which no way is the exact price, it will either be 550 or 600 dollars. Add the hd-dvd for 200 dollars and your at 750 to 800. Ps3 still has wi-fi and multi card reader. Zephyr will only have the extra hard drive space.
How long did we know about the 360 before it even came out???

the fact that it's going to black is interesting. this makes this rumour a little more believable to me.
you see, a few months back, it was stated in xbox world 360 magazine that microsoft are going to release a new controller. the colour of this controller is black. it did seem a little strange at the time that the colour of this controller is black as standard when the 360 is actually white. i had an idea then that a black 360 would come out at that time.
the new controller has back lights on the 4 main buttons and boasts a better designed d-pad. i'm glad they have redesigned the d-pad as the the current one is complete crap. probably the worst d-pad on an official console controller ever.
anyway... if this news is true, then it means not only is the 360 console being improved, the controller is going to be improved as well, not to mention looking pretty cool with the back lights on all the buttons. ;)

i like the way you put in the multi card reader. for the 360 all you need to do is plug one in, but then again you can connect a PC to the 360 and play movies, pic. slide show and music. something that can't be done with the PS3. oh ya and you can play music while playing any game on the 360. and just in case you didn't know if you have the media control, universal control or the mini control that came with the 1st batch like i do then you can fast forward, rewind, pause, play and stop in game. tell me if you can do this with the PS3. i know you can't.
My media center PC has a 300 gig hdd plus an external 300 hdd, plus my 30 gig ipod + zune. so i already have all this space then i add a 120 gig hdd then thats a lot of space i have for my 360 to use.
so mr dangle. can you do all that with the PS3?
Australia is a lot more expensive then the US.
Xbox 360 Premium RRP: AU$649.95 (US$507.374)
RRP is only $399 in the US.
If the RRP of the Zepher 360 is true, it's only AU$100 (US$78) more then the premium 360.
I'm going to guess (if this is true) RRP US$450 for the US.
The PS3 RRP is AU$999! Which is US$779.86! What a rip off.
Why are all of you saying that the 360 would STILL be cheaper than Ps3. 0 + 200 for HD-DVD Drive is 0. The Ps3 is 600. And you can get the Hard Drives for dirt cheap on the net that are bigger than 120 GB for like bucks or less. I got one for my computer. I dont have any of the new consoles. But, I am seeing that some of you definately never went to math class.

i cant imagine that this would come out so soon after the initial launch.... it will not only confuse customers, but will also alienate the existing user base of the 360.

I allready have a 360. This shafts current owners. Thank but id rather spend that extra money on a ps3 and keep my current 360 :)
Why would it alienate anyone?,if you want the bigger drive then the option will proberly be there, just the same as original PS3 buyers who bought the 20 gig version they are now seeing the Europe etc launch as only 60 gig drive they must also feel alienated then so they going to get a buy back scheme to?.
Yer it will be so confusing EH ! you have a choice of basically if you want HDMI you can have it thats real confusing isnt it, in other words if you are getting or own an HDTV this is for you if you dont then you wont need an HDTV for years yet as the normal non HD broadcast is going nowhere and HD TV shows a poor quality standard broadcast picture.
Of course you own a 360 its so obvious and what EXTRA money?.

It will proberly have both the new drive and the smaller chipset, the low price is a telling sign that the new chip set is now inside, (this is not a new Xbox its an update). But I hope its true as the Zephur plus the opportunity to add HD DVD when I decide to get HD TV is ideal for me and coming in at a price which Equals the PS3 (deducting the far bigger Zephur hard drive size) and putting that money to buy the wireless connection which again is optional as I personally would NEVER use wireless on a console as it is never 100% relible whereas you can buy a FLAT CAT 6 cable 50ft/15m long for around £3 which is 100$ relible.

Not all that great. I own a 360 and the only reasons I got it was I like it's controller and Halo 3. Aside from that, the PS3 and 360 are same. Ok so PS3 has a small more power. This wont come in handy for years until games make use of it. 360 has more games, but this is due to the one year head start... honestly people think the PS3 and 360 were released at the same time and that 360 has more games because it's better but no, it's just the one year difference... 360 has in-game music/streaming. PS3 has web-browsing and free netplay. They both have things going for them, but this new 360 won't make me feel bad about my current one. Screw it, soon they will have mods so I can have larger HDD's anyway so... But yeah, I see this as Microsoft admitting that PS3 has an edge for waiting a year and they want to make a "quick fix". That's all this is... IMHO
looking at the numbers it really is hard to beleive the ps3 is going to have 60+% market share like analysts predicted. btw, to those who say this is m$'s way of saying 'oops, we screwed up, now we're scared of the ps3', i would like to say this. Xbox 360 has sold more than 7x as much as ps3. now that may be partly because its been out for so long, but thats exactly the reason x360 has nothing to be afraid of concerning ps3. my point: while ps3 has only barely been released, the xbox 360 is already getting a major upgrade. even more reason not to buy a ps3, the new and improved x360 which covers many of the x360's disadvantages compared to the ps3, is still hell of a lot cheaper than the PS3 itself. and who needs nextgen optical discs?

If you think about it just because the ps3 is more powerful and has more mini gadgets doesn't mean its gona be the favorate.Remember the ps2 vs xbox war sure xbox is more powerful and could do more but people still went for ps2 and this is the same case here ! I think the 360 isnt about quality its about the games released for it microsoft has Halo and gears of war and sony has Devil May Cry And Resitance fall of a man. As for the price tag £425 for ps3 is a joke xbox 360 is just about affordable for most people

i dont freaking care, there is been no such word of this NEW xbox either, my bro works at EB and they have had 0 word of it. and ALSO stop comparing it to ps3.. ITS ALL OPINION AND YOU WONT SEE A NEW ps3 in a YEAR, 360 was such a peice of crap hardware wise they have to revamp it to the point of new specs.. THATS sad imo....
