Xbox Live to host ESPN-based content

ESPN shows hit Xbox LIve - Image 1Online website Variety reports that a deal has been reached between Microsoft and ESPN, allowing the media company to show off various sports and television programs on the Xbox 360 through the Xbox Live system.

According to the news, ESPN will be offering various sports events and shows for download on the Xbox Live service. These include college football and basketball games, the X Games, and episodes of "World Series of Poker" and "Madden Nation".

Matt Murphy, Senior VP of digital video distribution for Disney and ESPN Media Network, had this to say about the new arrangement: "Establishing this relationship with Microsoft on Xbox 360 provides an innovative way to reach our target demographic."

No word on the specific date for the launch of the ESPN shows on the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, but you can certainly bet that ESPN and Microsoft won't be wasting any time bringing sports to gamers everywhere.
