Xbox Live Arcade to get MAME and SEGA games? |

An anonymous Microsoft worker has revealed that MAME and SEGA games are making their way to the Xbox Live Arcade. The tipster stated that the XBLA is going to "smash Nintendo's Virtual Console to pieces" with the help of MAME. Microsoft might be releasing a legal MAME emulator where gamers can pay to get their favorite retro game packs. The source also mentioned that SEGA will be hopping on the XBLA bandwagon, although he didn't say what exactly they would be bringing. All of this is strictly rumors just for now, but it seems like it would be a great business move for all parties involved. The XBLA has brought in loads of money, especially from titles like Geometry Wars, so I don't see why SEGA or MAME would seem unreasonable.| This story sucks? This story rocks! |

If this happens that means the MAME development team are sellouts! I've been in the MAME scene for years and the team has never been in this for money. I don't see them selling out to Microsoft...

An arcade emulator along the lines of MAME is not out of the question either, as the whole idea of XBLA is bringing back old arcade games anyway. It does not nessesarily have to be the MAME emulator either. Microsoft could just produce their own emulator software. Heck they have already produced an Xbox Emulator, and that was probably a lot more difficult.

If Microsoft does something similar, they can't call it name. They'll just run a custom emulator and that's that.

There are more than 5000 games actually playable with MAME, a lot of them are made by companies that don't exist anymore. WHY SHOULD A COMPANY LIKE MS TRY TO GET ALL THESE LICENSES BACK?? Remember: They wanna present there own system in a good light by showing the technical quality of there product with NEW games! Not with 25-30 year old stuff!

If it is not MAME then what are these 'exact' arcade emulations running?
