From the looks of things, Microsoft really did have a new Wi-Fi adapter planned for the Xbox 360. GameStop has now listed an Xbox 360 Wireless N adapter for use with online play, designed for versatility and ease of use.

According to the GameStop listing:

Designed for versatility and ease, the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter ‘N’ enhances your Xbox 360 experience in the digital home, seamlessly synchronizing with the Xbox 360 system with the newest Wireless N standard. Wireless N offers increased speed, coverage and reliability and can easily stream media-intensive applications such as ‘Games on Demand’, HD movies, videos and music to your Xbox 360 system from Xbox LIVE® or your Media Center PC.

This Wi-Fi adapter carries the same price tag as its predecessor - US$ 99.99.

I thought it'd be at least $150, but it's the same as the old one. Still a ripoff tho

With a wireless N router, the xbox can now be further from the router, the signal will be stronger, less lag, faster downloads.

Please provide a link. For the crappy brands, the cheapest Wireless N adapter I found was $30.

For the actually _good_ Linksys/Dlink, the cheapest I've found is $80.

It would appear I was half-correct. You can get a wireless DRAFT-N adapter for $15 (not exactly highly rated, but still works for some people). There are others too (that are possibly not draft but full n).

Like you said, these are $30. AND if you look at the ratings and customer reviews, they are PERFECTLY FINE and work like they should. I wouldn't consider these "crappy brands."

So, the cheapest you can find that is a RELIABLE card or dongle is $30..... which is still $70 less than the Xbox360

If anyone wants to follow the links, you'll have to replace the + signs with the equals sign.

Sorry about that.

Compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges.

Must be: USB 2.0, Wireless N (not Draft), and External antenna. And being Wireless N, a 300 mbps transfer rate.

That leave 1 thing one the NewEgg website: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item+N82E16833166027

$74.99. And it's ugly.
