We're just about to make your weekend so much more fun with the return of the Weekend Warriors! You're in the Xbox 360 page, and you bet we've got a nifty little roundup for all the big things that happened to your favorite green console.

We'll cease the chitchat now so we can go down straight to business.

From inside the Green

Here's how Microsoft's week started:  Aaron Greenberg released a statement proudly claiming that they've "put the worst behind them", referring to the now-legendary Red Ring of Death afflicting their consoles. While he did not explicitly state what was that "worst problem", he maintained his confidence in saying that their current systems are much stronger now. Isaac C. was not exactly a straight out believer, how about you?

Red Xbox 360 - not the actual unit - Image 1Speaking of all that is red, Microsoft seems to want to change the word affiliation of "red" to the Xbox 360. Now they want people to ooohh and aaahh when they think of "red" and their Xbox 360s. As in, their Red Xbox 360s.

It was a pretty whirlwind weekend as well for Microsoft because of this, first with a retail listing "confirming" the existence of the new model. Then there was the "accidental confirmation" of the same, though still not from Microsoft, but from a Halo Wars press release rather. And then finally, just a couple of days ago, the existence of the said Red Xbox 360 was officially confirmed, and revealed to be on its way to New Zealand, too!

Them lucky hobbitses! But what about the other parts of the world? Surely they wouldn't be so mean as to keep it far away from us forever? Ooohhh, but I know a lot are surely turning a heavy shade of green.

There was also something eye-popping in the form of the Eye Toy-like technology that Microsoft is supposedly interested in. It's sort of like the PS3's Eye Toy, but only more advanced. 3DV is developing the said motion-sensing camera tech, and it looks like it will also be taking a page out of the Nintendo Wii's Wiimote, only this time, you won't even have to hold a controller or anything. Interesting, eh?

Teeing off

Games were just as noisy on the Xbox 360, particularly The Lost and Damned, GTA IV Xbox 360 - Image 1the exclusive DLC content of Grand Theft Auto IV. At the beginning of the week, Rockstar gave out a statement proclaiming that The Lost and Damned DLC is a full game in itself, further stoking the excitement of the fans awaiting it. Yes, it was looking to be a really sweet deal at 20 bucks.

But then, just right after the release of the DLC, an anomaly was found. Well, fans found that something was missing from their game: blood and gore. Apparently, crime scenes were "cleaned up", leaving no trace of blood after a supposed kill. Some weren't all too happy with that, of course.

Good thing Rockstar did address the issue later that day, appeasing the worried fans of gore that they will be releasing a quick fix for that "error". Also, they clarified that it wasn't because of the DLC, rather it was because of  a separate patch.

On other games, Mass Effect has been announced to be a Classic Xbox 360 game for UK gamers come March. Along with a marked down price tag are some pretty cool addition stuff as well, like the documentary included in the double-disc offering.

Well the Red Xbox 360 is looking gorgeous, eh? It would surely make a nice pair with the Red Ring of Death that's coming along with it. I kid, I kid. Hopefully Aaron Greenberg wasn't just being his fanboy self when he said that their systems are much stronger now. It's about time, after all. But yeah, that new color scheme would do wonders for the X360. I imagine it would make his eyes stand out more. T_T

As for the whole gore-removal hullaballoo in GTA IV, hopefully you guys got your gore just right where you want them to be.

That's it for this week's Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior. Do come back next week, cos we're back for good.

» RROD real reason

The real reason the 360 doesnt get the RROD anymore is they've removed that error code. You will still get the same problem but the lights wont flash.

As soon as the lawyers hear about this I think Micro$oft will be in for 1 huge bill. As soon as I get that error I will be sueing them if they dont fix it.

Its a 360. All the good games have already been released on PS3.

But the 360 only games are a handful. I like Tenchu Z, Fable 2, Gears Of War 1+2, FarCar Predator and Forsa 2. I also think Splinter Cell Double Agent does look a LOT better in 360.

My source is a repair centre. He spoke to the actual M$ repair centre and they told him.

So I've leaked it as I'm pissed at M$ and they deserve to get a huge lawsuit against them for this coverup.

In the 3 RROD what happened? black screen and 3 red lights flashed. Now remove the lights.... thats the error you will get.

Wait till you get that error and tell me they've got rid of it. It's total BS. Do you really think Micro$oft would fix the error or hide it?

» Yep

Most of the best games are multiplatform, but on top of those games Faerie mentioned, check out Dead Rising. One of my fav games ever. Mass Effect and Condemned are also amazing. And Call of Duty 2 if you don't have it for PC, its like $5 and the single player is great. Prey is also a good game

Tho I'd stay away from or rent Tenchu Z. To each their own, but I thought that was one of the worst games I've ever played. Far Cry Predator is also a pretty bad game IMO

Well guess what I spoke to your mother and she wishes she had an abortion. Now which is more likely - the RROD won't do the lights or your parents wish you were dead?
