In Major Nelson's big Spring Update talking about new features in the dashboard and such, he interviewed a revealing individual in his podcast. A man he talked to announced that the Xbox 360 webcam, known as Xbox Live Vision, is set for release on September 19th in America and Europe. This will certainly encourage some developers to create some innovative titles, and hopefully we'll see some creative ways this will play into the Xbox Live scene later this year.Via Major Nelson

Sry to say, but you are a litle bit slow on this, Microsoft Annuced the date 3 weeks back and the cam will be released for the rest of the world on Febuary 10th.
But atleast keep up the good work ;)
I'm glad the live avatars are very small....I can barely imagine how many *****s n balls are going to be posted on live......worst would be if any game company decides to post a little video of what is playing on your camera when you talk in your oponents corner of the screen (all futuristic style) man oh man, the horrors....
They also talked about face mapping, like in the new rainbow six, so I can't wait
All the immature people on XBL (i.e. 80% of the users) will just take pics of their testes and use it as their gamerpic. Hopefully feedback will get them banned fast.

it would be really cool if you could record video on it. i was thinkin it would be really cool to set it up whenever i have parties to see if anything gets stolen, or just to watch and laugh at all the dumb sh*t that happens... if you could, i would definately get the (rumored) 100gb HD, too. anyone know anything about what you can do with this cam?

The spring update supports two different gamer pictures. Gamer pics created using the camera will only be visible to people in your friends list (the personal gamer pic) every one else will see a standard gamer pic.
i bet that after the first few weeks they will do something gay to make it where u will be limited to the camera because of complaints for little kids being exposed to STUFF. Im am calling the shot right now that microsoft will get so many complaints and to the point where u can only see each other in private chat.
that's why they are there, to stop kids from being exposed to negative stuff. In the podcast they state there will be additional controls for childrens accounts that have to do with both seeing and using the camera
yea hes exactly right so if you do see a gamer picture with someones nuts or whatever lol, then it will be because he is your friend
