IndiaAfter hearing how successful India has been doing economically, Microsoft has decided to launch their Xbox 360 gaming console there later this year. The estimated 1.6 million gaming fans in India will be able to pre-order the system as early as next month, and Microsoft guarantees that the 360 will be in India before any of their competitors release their consoles anywhere in the world. In addition, Microsoft is also going to strongly support third-party game developers there as well, and they especially hope to see an increase in the number of XBLA titles. The console will be launched sometime before the Indian festival of lights known as Diwali for the price of 19,990 rupees ($439 USD). Microsoft is definitely trying to spread their means worldwide to take an early lead in the next generation race.

I love how the 360 is everywhere, and you get to play with all these people in all these countries. One time I got on the BF2 demo, and when I went to check my players list, there were 2 French players, a Canadian player, a Swedish player, two UK players, a German player, a Mexican player, and another guy from some country I can't remember (European). Now I get to meet some Indians, woot!

Lol French players are so fun to confuse the heck out of.

What is microsoft thinking....

Even teenagers there dont work.... they all depend on their parents for daily living....

Indian culture is not at all like European culture... it is totally different... to get one, the child or teenager has to be either from a rich parent and spoilt or has to beg their middle class parents to buy them one... we are looking at probably 2-3 years convincing time period before the parents agree to buy one...

20,000 rupees is a very big amount for people there...

I am not looking at a lot of sales in india...

Lets looks at some of my (from my point of view)

Population- ~1.25- 1.5 billion

Poor percentage- ~50%

Middle Class percentage- ~45% (~0.5% of them probably buy the 360 in a year from launch)

High Class percentage- ~5% (.5% of them may buy the 360 in a year from launch)

It still may add up to a lot of consoles sold but i am not going to gurantee that....

All these facts i am presenting with one thing in mind.... parents there are very strict and want their children to just study all the time and top their respective classes...

A thing like videogames is considered a waste of time; especially if that videogame is Rs.20,000, a whole month's work pay for majority of the middle class parents..

This expensive hobby is just thrown out of the window....

Bottomline, MS will not be able to sell many consoles...

umm, no, this is isnt going to do good. if they released it in an arab country like dubai, then maybe because there are more rich folks living there.

glad to see you have such great thoughts about us and by the way 20 grand is not a big deal for us i have a xbox360 already and people that i have a talk with on the mic have no problem understanding me surprisingly ppl from the u.k. dont have a problem understanding me and a marketing genius like microsoft had no hopes of selling many consoles would not have bothered to release it in india but they are still doing it and teenagers do work im 15 and i work and most of the richest people in dubai are indian immigrants and we study hard and get good marks and do play video games and get your jobs in your countries!! and our culture however it is is recognised and appreciated around the globe and even americans and europeans do yoga and people please learn some english. Its their not thier and its hear not here so you people should improve your english and then think about insulting indians.

I believe if 1% of 5% of India gets XB360, that would cross the sales in Japan....
