System update - Image 1

Microsoft has completed another system update, and those connected to Xbox Live should be prompted to accept the mandatory update any time now, if they haven't gotten it already. Hold yer horses, though, young'un, this ranch ain't ridin' them fancy Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, and Zune features just yet.

That's right, whipper-snapper. Keep your pants on, those features are scheduled for late November. This update simply adds WPA2 support for the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter.

» Copying Sony?

What is this? Making the same steps as Sony? Constant updates, and more concerned with piracy, there's already several liteon models. Just go with the flow and remove the online payed service. That you don't wanna do, do ya?

payed service is what keeps live as good as it is id rather pay for my live and have a good service that works well. rather than a free service that dont work very well and drops every 5 mins not to mention the lag

PSN drops every 5 mins? Lag compared to Xbox Live when both use P2P method of hosting games rather than a dedicated server? Keep believing yourself and what Microsoft got you to believe in order to get your money. Only things good about Xbox Live is all the additional features like cross game chat and the such which Sony is rumored to get. Also constant updates are a good thing means that you get new stuff more often unless of course the updates are to fix the problems of the last update like Sony does with every .01 firmware

» yeah

Live may be a little better, but you better check your router or network settings, the PSN is just as stable, and i'm sure everyone agrees that the price difference doesn't compensate.

» PSN Vs XBL

I have both and I don't notice a difference. The only thing I notice XBL has is exclusive demos and everything mentioned in this article I don't use. I would like to see WPA2 Enterprise though.

So if you're a 16 year old kid who's glued to FaceBook all day then this is probably why you like XBL more. For me, I only play games on line so for on line gaming XBL and PSN are 100% equal.

psn always drops out on me and live hardly if ever does and i agree with you phiyuku that updates are a good thing

» Huh?

wtf i have all that? then again i guess its cause im in the preview program. From the stuff i do the facebook and twitter thing are useless tho. The last fm is nice but i wish it was integrated into custom soundtracks.

by martin447 - 2009-10-28 08:42
» Well, Facebook and Last.fm is indeed on XBL, just not for everyone :P

I however have no idea if it's a very select few from the preview program (doubt it though) or if it's the BETA program - perhaps someone who has once before been in a BETA (signing up for the program isn't sufficient, you have to have had a test once before) could clarifiy?

by martin447 - 2009-10-28 08:44
» Oh, nice, the guy above me has it

and according to himself ( ) he's only a Previewer

-_-' wouldn't have written my comment if he was just a few seconds faster

It still sounds like an end user error. I've played Warhawk on PSN for as long as it has been out and I've seldom seen any lag issues. Perhaps you live out in a rural area that has crappy routing to PSN.

Something tells me that people complaining about PSN just aren't being honest, or have no idea how to troubleshoot their issue.

So you can't listen to last fm while playing a game?

by Uplink - 2009-10-28 09:41
» No

sadly its just an app like twitter and facebook you havta log in and only listen to it there not in game :-(

by Uplink - 2009-10-28 09:47
» I have

been doing pretty much all the Microsoft betas lately win7 office plus xbox ect im pretty sure the beta chances are tied to your live account i could be wrong but so far i havent missed one. But yes the new facebook twitter ect is all up and running its just very underwhelming. Basicly dont think your going to get to tweet while in a game or post on facebook while in game. They are separate apps that havta be launched like a game. For me personally that makes them useless.

by martin447 - 2009-10-28 09:56
» Oh - i see :(

That's a shame - i guess i could've lived with atleast being able to use the apps directly from the dashboard, but if they all have to be launched like any other game... well - there went my excitement -_-'

But as always, i am "excited" by new updates and as far as i understood the E3 show, i will now save 3$ a month on subscribtion to last.fm - pretty sure they said Gold Members could use it for free. however, only from the 360... hmm - might keep the subscribtion on then... and why am i discussing with myself?! -_-'

by Uplink - 2009-10-28 11:15
» im not sure

but if premium removes adds then the xbox dont. I dont have a subscription to last fm but i do have gold and ever now and again get ads kinda like i do on pc dunno the diff between the two services tho.

I've played Killzone 2 Online on my PS3 constantly! and for long hours with my friends, and it rarely drops connection or we get some lag. I get drop connections bcz of my Router which I can't still setup right yet. lolz and the Lag is minimum tho, it rarely happens when you got like over 32 peopls that are shooting like krazy right next to each other, that is when it can rarely happen. but sitll for being a rapid shooting game, it plays great online!!

by DarkDragonAn - 2009-10-28 17:11
» I already have these Features on my 360.

Microsoft gave me all these features last week and the best one last.fm I had a problem with the twitter app. the Facebook is very cool but nothing special.

by trigger_ftu - 2009-10-28 21:39
» the update is cool not for those with the datel drives

hey i got approved for this stuff i like the facebook b/c i have family on there. as for the zune well i will say it is b-e-a-u-tiful never any lag from the video play or quality distortion and if ya don't have room on the harddrive ya will over the stream. (i have alot of family guy and the guid downloaded so the stream featres help a ton) as for the update it might have something to do with that tv stream they got goin on in the pal region the skytv. sadly us in the NTSC-U won't b getting it.
