Ó

Xbox Live MarketplaceMajor Nelson is giving major props to the folks over at Achieve360Points.com.

Apparently, the site has a new section called the A360P Live Marketplace Map. This allows you to see a list of all of the content currently on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Also, they have compiled some wild "Marketplace Statistics". Currently, there are 56 downloads on Xbox Live Arcade costing 13,980 Microsoft Points ($174.75). There are 654 downloads for Xbox 360 Games costing 54,030 Microsoft Points ($675.38). 223 downloads for "everything else" cost 3,780 Microsoft Points ($47.25).

So, if you add up these numbers, there are 933 downloads available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and to buy all of them would cost 71,790 Microsoft Points ($897.38). Cool huh?

The Xbox Live Marketplace is one of the reasons a lot of people see Microsoft as a leader in the next-gen console wars. I can see why.

I think people see the 360 as the best next gen console because, well, it's the only one released.

Maybe because it has more than 4 decent looking games coming to it, and that were actually at E3?

I love my 360, I've had way more than $400 worth of fun on it, with friends, and C4ing teammates in the BF2 demo. Seriously, if anyone hasn't tried that, you need to, most fun I've had in videogames in a long while.

Hopefully the 360 will win, and we'll get even more good games.

I can see why xbox live arcade games cost money, most of them offer good value. I have bought one so far and i have had my moneys worth, thats for sure.

On the other hand, it costs money to by a picture. A buck for a 30k jpeg file, dont think so, its just a huge scam.

Then theres content updates for games. I like the idea as it adds more to the game, but then again, why should be pay for it when we have already paid £50 for the game? Games have never been so expensive, but yet we're still being faced with games that could offer so much more and to get that little bit more we have to pay more. Its a good idea if your business minded, but what about the consumers?

Its about time things change. Often products come down in price over time, not go up! i thought we were heading in the right direction with ps2/xbox games being released at £30 a shot , but obviously developers like going back in time.

It all makes piracy seem worth while. Power to the consumer i say, lets drive those rip off charges/extra payments into oblivion!

Ever so true, and you cant even pick one out of the five, so you have to pay for all five for some you might not even use.

ms is not responsible fo most of the content or prices, the game devs are. Also the stuff on the marketplace are EXTRAS that you dont need so it is not a rip off as you say. just because you dont think its worth the price doesnt mean its wrong to offer you the CHOICE.
