Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Gold Card for $36

Xbox live cardHere's another great offer for you from online retailer Amazon: They are offering a 12 month Xbox Live Gold card for a few cents under $36 with 1 month's free subscription, essentially giving you 13 months of Xbox Live Gold. This offer saves you $14.17 on the RRP for this product which still stands at $49.99 for 12 months. This item is sold by Amazon and not one of those dodgy marketplace affiliates, and will be delivered within 1-2 weeks. Here's a description of the Xbox Live Gold card according to online retailer:

Get online for intelligent matchmaking, leagues, ladders, tournaments and more
Use with Xbox Live starter kit
Features one 12-mo. subscription and 1 free month

This seems like a great deal, although after reading through the Amazon reviews we realised that Amazon have messed up, and this card actually contains Microsoft points up to the value of 12 months Xbox Live Gold (2000 points), and not an actual subscription. Of course, you can subscribe to Xbox Live using the Microsoft points on this card, but you must have an Xbox Live subscription first in order to connect to Xbox Live and buy more  months' subscription.

This is cheap for 12 months subscription, but only buy it if you already have an Xbox Live subscription. It's ideal if your subscription only lasts for 1 more month or so as you can renew it with this card.

No, the people in the comments on amazon don't know what they are talking about. It is an actual 13 months(12 + 1) subscription card. I bought one of these last year. It also shows on the card, 12+1 not xxxx points which you see on points cards. You still have to key in the ungodly amount of digits to use it.

It appears that some people who have bought the card have recieved points cards instead of subscription cards, which is why they have written those comments.

Isn't a year's worth of XBox Live Gold worth 4000 points, not 2000? After all, it's $5 for 400 points, and a year of XBL Gold is $50. If the cards coming to people are 2000 point cards, it's not the customer getting the good deal. I hope this was just a mistake in the article
