Xbox 360Takahashi Sensui, general manager for Xbox 360 Japan, has declared that the PlayStation3 is "too expensive" - and that Microsoft's next-gen console is "in no way inferior to any other console."

After slamming the PS3's high price tag, Sensui then went on to discussing the Xbox's retail price. Speaking to the Mainichi Daily News, Sensui confirmed that Microsoft does not plan to cut the price of the Xbox 360 in Japan. This, despite the fact that the console has failed to take off in the territory. Six months after launch, it was still lagging behind the Nintendo DS, the PlayStation2, and even the GameBoy Advance.

Sensui also announced that there are currently no plans to release an HD-DVD-ready 360 in Japan. However, if the standalone player performs well, Microsoft may reconsider.

it won't sell anyway so why lower the price. They realize that Japan is a loss and are quietly allowing it to fail.

Microsoft will fail in Japan no matter what they do. Also, the 360 is inferior to the PS3. Nobody can't deny that fact the PS3 is more powerful and as usual the only argument he has is the PS3's price tag and no concern if people will buy it or not, and they will, high price tag or not. Microsoft keeps underestimating the fanbase of their rival consoles and that will hurt them in the long run.

# Consoles are EqualGuest 2006-07-31 20:04
The consoles are very much equal in performance. In fact the 360 has more texture memory available and therefore can have more detailed graphics. The PS3 can do 1080p. So what! If you actually worked in the industry you would realise that developers are going to use the exact same content on both consoles. They are not going to go out of their way to develop unique content on one console or the other, its just not feasible.

The extra 10 MB of memory is really just a buffer. The Xenos processor has to use the Xbox 360's GPU memory controller to access RAM. PS3 is actually better and devs will realise it when they understand how to use PS3's SIMD capabilities.

I see...

Let me summarize that, Microsoft is basically saying, "Sony's PS3 price is too expensive, which is why we will never drop our prices."

Lol. And Microsoft screws it's customers once again. How long will the Xbox fans take these kind of cr*p before they start maning up and saying something?

The creator of MGS4 "Guns of the Partioits" said that game would run on the 360 with no problems and would fit on the DVD's that M$ is using now with the 360.

PPL are so hooked on Sony's PS systems that they refuse to even look at the other consules. If you look at the tech specs of both systems both are about the same. The 360 is better balanced and easier to program for. Plus the cost is a big concern. If both systems can do the same things. why would you spend $600 on a PS3 that has a 1st generation Blu ray DVD Player ?

Cost is another big factor, if the PS# stays at the $600 mark here in the US, ppl are not going to buy it. Maybe the Sony fan boys but after that, not much. If cost of the system is too much for ppl to purchase it, devlopers are not going to produce for it. Also, devolopers (sp) are expressing concerns that the PS3 games are going to cost millions to produce.....

Just read the book by Dean Tackahashi about the 360. I love sony products but lost faith after the "Emotion Engine".
